Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Also congrats on the weight loss...that is a great accomplishment and I am sure with all the running around you will be doing then other 10 - 15 will be a breeze.
Love the silver from the tuxes and the green of the dresses, the combo is fantastic, can't wait until we get to see the actual pictures of all of you on the wedding day.

WOW!! Great tax returns! What a weight off your shoulders! I'm so glad of that!
I am impressed and proud of you for the weight loss!
The mock-up wedding party looks great... it makes me know the real thing will be sooo much better!
Everything sounds wonderful, Mel!
Just got all caught up Melissa and was glad to read that your tax check was big enough to pay off so many things!!!! That must have been such a relief! Sounds like you're extremely busy. I saw Mary Poppins on Broadway and absolutely loved it! There was so much going on stage that you didn't know where to look first. Can't wait to hear more of your plans.
Love the mock up...but agree with Amanda...you will look 100times BETTER!
I'm glad everything is mostly paid and you don't have that stress anymore.
CONGRATS on the WEIGHT LOSS!!! 32lbs is AMAZING!!! You are going to look soo HOT!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! It means a lot to hear from you guys!

Unless you gained a lot of weight between when I saw you in the summer and when you started dieting, I'm sure you don't need to. You must be skinny-minnie by now! Love the virtual briday party. That's really cool! Enjoy MP. I really want to see it, so I can't wait to hear what you think of it.

That cake from your engagement party – WOW! You’re mom is amazing! How did she have time to do all those things?! LOVE your cake topper! (Little jealous I didn’t have it for my ‘Cinderella’ twist wedding. J)
You’re dress is gorgeous and I’m sure you’ll be just as gorgeous in it.
You’re honeymoon destination looks spectacular.
WOW! On the price for the photographer, but if that’s something important to you I think it’ll be well worth it. The pictures were pretty much the most important thing to me for my wedding – beyond getting married of course. J
Congrats on getting so many things paid off! I’m sure that’s a big relief.

Really enjoying reading about all of your wedding plans! Everthing sounds wonderful. Love the cake!!!!! And your dress!
Have you heard "Cinderella" by Steven Curtis Chapman? I think that would make a great song for your father/daughter dance.

CONGRATS~~~~can't wait to hear more!!!
I had never even heard of that song. But let me tell you-- I just listened to it and CRIED MY EYES OUT! So beautiful. It really is adorable. Thank you so much!
Having given two daughters away in my lifetime, I vote for Cinderella. I had not heard of it either, but just watched the youtube... and no, I am NOT crying... my eyes just water a bit, that's all...

My dad voted for Cinderella too!
I sent him the YouTube with a note that said-- Im torn between this and Butterfly Kisses with Daughters in 3rd. He wrote back and said "OUTSTANDING! .............. clearly the best of the three ..... by far....not even close"

It took me 2 days at work (I know, I know...I should be working) But, I'm so glad I read the entire post!!
Here goes...
First off, Congratulations on your engagement and you and Rob are absolutely adorable!!
I LOVE the cake your mother did. That is Amazing!!! She is quite talented.
I, like so many others on this post, also watched P.S. I Love You and cried my eyes out. (Of course the main reason I wanted to see it in the first place was because of Gerard Butler...)
The dresses you picked are gorgeous. I love the detail on your dresses and I also went with almost the same color green for my bridesmaids...10 years ago! Time does fly when you are having fun!!
My DH and I went to Sandals in Negril, Jamaica when we were dating. We loved it. I love the all inclusive and the choices of restaurants. I looked at the site for the one you will be staying in and it is beautiful!! I love all the pastel colors. How fun!! And please tell me you are planning on having a couples massage under that thatched roof thing at the beach. The picture made it look Fabulous!! You are going to have an awesome time!
For all the times I have been to NY, I still have not gotten to WOD. But, it sounds from your posts that it is closing soon?? I will have to get my boys in there before that happens. We're planning on taking them when the weather gets nicer to the Museum of Natural History so maybe we'll make a side trip to WOD. Of course they may never get me out of there.
The Mickey earrings for the girls are adorable! I may have to order myself a pair.
Too bad you couldn't come on the 5k run. I'm hoping that Crissy and I will be able to do it this fall. I just have to wait until it is a little bit warmer before I get out there to start training.
I haven't heard the Cinderella song...I'll have to wait until I get home to see that...but I love the Elvis song. I like that you chose that. We wanted something classic also and went with "It Had To Be You". I've got the Harry Connick version from When Harry Met Sally as my ringtone for Craig when he calls. My dad left when I was 4, but I grew up dancing in my living room with my family and when I got married, my mother and it jitter-bugged to big band music. That was my mother-daughter dance.
I took my mother to see MP on Broadway for Christmas last year...I think that was when we went . I LOVED it.
That mock-up of your bridal party is so cool . And congratulations on the 32 pounds. I know how hard it is, and you're doing awesome.
Okay...I think I covered everything...Now I can keep up and not bombard you with such huge responses in the future.

Their current store is due to close, but as I understand it, they'll be locating elsewhere in Manhatten.
