The Trip that Almost had No Memories! Nov. at WL! - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After our tummies were full, we thought now would be a good time to check out WDW Railroad and ride over to Toontown to ride the Barnstormer. This was a nice ride and sometime I might just ride it all around the park! We first went to Minnie’s House as if the very pink building was just drawing Kylie into it. We took a lot of pictures (too bad Kylie’s hair was crazy then ) and enjoyed all the different things in there. Kylie was especially fascinated in the kitchen with the fridge full of cheese (and other dairy products), cake baking in the oven and the popcorn in the microwave (If I remember correctly). After that we went out into the yard and I knew her gazebo make a great photo op and no one was around but that was the problem, no one was around to take a picture for us . We took turns taking pictures but I wanted one with Terry and me in the heart shaped gazebo. So we gave the camera to DD5, with good coaching (do you see us in the middle of the screen?) and hoped for the best. She actually did fairly well for her first attempt at a real picture !
We headed next to Goofy’s Barnstormer. Wow, what a line! Unfortunately our nifty Dream FP didn’t help us out here so we decided to forego this “baby” ride, we rationalized.
We ambled back towards the castle and rode Pooh this time using our FPs from earlier. Since Mickey’s Philharmagic was right beside it, we went in there next. They weren’t even using the FP line since there was no wait in the stand-by line. This surprised me that more people weren’t going in there as this was one of my most favorite attractions of the day ! Donald was so funny!
We saw the Sword in the Stone by the Carousel so I told Kylie to go see if she was strong enough to pull it out. I had this feeling that the man in the blue shirt and hat just hanging out there watching might be a blueberry but wasn’t quite sure . She tried with all her might to pull it out and then called her Daddy up there to try. I’m taking pictures of all of this laughing out loud, making fun of them and saying that it would be real funny if I was able to pull it out after they couldn’t (hint, hint). So DH took over the camera duty and Kylie came up by me to supervise my efforts and low and behold, the “Momma” is stronger than all and the sword came up ! Quite a little crowd was gathering now to see the sword come out of the stone! I kept thinking maybe we would get a magical moment certificate or something but the man just stood there smiling for a bit and walked away. I did get some pictures of my proud magical moment!
Kylie wanted to ride Cinderella’s Carousel again so we got in the short line to do that and was able to find Cinderella’s horse again. This time my DD5 was so generous and let me ride it while she rode an outside horse. We stationed DH outside to take pictures.
Next up....Tomorrowland

I tryed to pull it there last time and at Disneyland but I think it just part of a sword on a stone. I never seen any one at lest pull it up partly. I could picture in my mind you guys making faces trying to pull lol I would be laughing hard.

It was time to head to Tomorrowland. We had so much energy, we never even felt the need to go rest! Plus with our Dream FP, we wanted to see and do everything ! Besides we had ADRs at Liberty Tree Tavern at 5:45 so we didn’t want to waste any precious time.
We parked our stroller in a central location by the TTA, Tomorrowland Transit Authority ride and went ahead and got on it. Very peaceful ride, fun to go through Space Mountain. I wonder if we’ll see it with the lights on during the refurb next year ? After this we headed to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and used our dream FP to get on. I almost think this was better than Toy Story Mania at DHS but don’t ask me why. They were fairly close. After that, we went to Monster’s Inc. Laugh Floor and I actually got in trouble for trying to take pictures in here. Gee, I didn’t have the flash on or anything ? Oh well, I was good and put away my coveted, saved my vacation, blue camera.
As we headed towards Space Mountain, Kylie decided that it was time for a Mickey Bar. Since we were having to child swap for this ride, I agreed that it was the perfect time. Terry stayed with her outside the ride while I went. I was excited that we didn’t miss this ride because I had read that it was going to be soon shut down for an extensive refurbishment in the near future. I wanted to be cool like many of the other veterans that could make claims like, “remember how the old Space Mountain was…? ” It was fun but it somehow rubbed my elbows while jostling me around. Maybe I just had them in the wrong spot.
When I came out, DH took his turn. Kylie by now was done with her Mickey Bar and as I was cleaning her up, she spotted a cart with various hats on it. She excitedly exclaimed that they had the Dale Chipmunk hat so we went to try it on. She was so cute and I asked her if she really wanted to get it . Of course she did and wore it proudly the rest of our trip. You want attention while you’re there? Buy a Dale hat .
We waited for Daddy to come off the ride and bought us some Mickey jewelry in the gift shop at Space Mountain.
After all of this, it was getting about time to head to our ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. I was excited about his character meal. Being a history buff, the setting sounded like a lot of fun and it would be our first time to meet Chip and Dale (my favorites). Also I knew they were doing away with this character dining meal the next year so again, I wanted to catch it while it still existed (why are they doing away with this, it was our favorite!!!) Kylie proudly wore her Dale hat and took her picture in front of the Christmas tree on display and soon we were called to our table. They had sprinkled it with Mickey confetti in honor of celebrating Kylie’s birthday.
We loved the glass steins there and wanted to buy one to take home but apparently they were out of these. The waitress explain upon us inquiring, that she had allowed some previous diners to pay and keep the ones that they used during their meal and had gotten in trouble for it. That bummed me out ! I later asked to speak with the manager and took it up with him that we were on our trip of a lifetime and that we had been looking forward to getting a mug from there and could we just get one. He obliged and we were able to take one home! See, it never hurts to ask a higher authority! The food here was incredible!! We were practically fighting over the last piece of roast beef . Kylie was too excited to eat (again). She was sitting on her knees in her chair, looking very much like a little chipmunk, eyes darting around in pursuit of the characters. As soon as one would come in our general vicinity she would practically fall out of her chair, exclaiming, “look, there’s Goofy or Minnie etc.”.
When Dale came out, he showed so much excitement to see his Mini Me and pointed to her hat! Kylie just grinned ear to ear. She got them to sign her autograph book and we got lots of good pictures of this whole event. DH and I even had a “conversation” with Minnie about Mickey just turning 80 years old and how sad we were that they were doing away with the character dining there. So sad! This was one of the most exciting times for Kylie during our whole trip. It was interesting that she seemed to be way more excited for these guys than the Princesses. She used to love the Princesses but I guess she’s outgrown them. Sigh.
And our day at the MK isn't even over yet!
