A Marriage Proposal, a Little Gustav and a Whole Lot of Magic! TR - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I loved your TR so far and can't wait to read the rest. My fiance was going to propose to me in Disney but after hearing warnings from friends and family about what could happen (lose the ring, i find it since i pack, get detained at airport etc) he did it on the mountain we had our first date on
ANXIOUS FOR MORE!

Getting ready for our own Disneymoon September 14-26th!
Karyn, what a thread, and how awesome of Craig to propose to you at WDW! Lucky you and Craig get to share your Wedding Month with DH and I (Our Wedding was June 1, 2007). Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip and hope the Wedding Planning isn't stressing you out too much. I'm actually a Wedding Planning Major and love it Congratulations to you and Craig on your Engagement and can't wait to hear how your Wedding Goes Best of luck to you both and your ring is gorgeous
Oh my goodness how time flies by! Thank you for all your comments and I apologize for not finishing earlier. After writing my last final paper EVER (other than the thesis that I NEED to get working on) I decided I would treat myself and reminisce about the last day and a half of our trip
Ok, so a few of you thought you might have guessed why we had such sad faces in our last picture. If you guessed because we were stuck on the monorail, you would be right! Haha, for a trip with so few mishaps there were certainly no complaints, but we were on the monorail for about an hour because the "car" (or whatever they call them) in front of us was stuck at the Polynesian. Although I was a bit sad that an hours worth of playing in the park was gone...it ended up being just fine because we had a great conversation with a lady and her granddaughter
We didn't have much time to spare at the MK because of the delay and also because we were going to the California Grill that evening and I really wanted to get all dolled up! It was our big dinner of the trip. I recently found out that Craig's original plan was to propose at the dinner during the fireworks, but apparently a comment I had made probably a month earlier changed that plan. We were watching an episode of Whose Wedding is it Anyway and the groom had proposed the last day of the trip - I guess I said "well that's silly, he should have proposed on the first day so they could have celebrated for the entire vacation." This is a testament to Craig being a great listener and a great man to watch such a girly show with me! Anyway, I'm glad everything worked out the way it did!
Craig took some amazing pictures at the MK. And of course we had a bit of fun playing dress up at POTC! We only did a few rides because of the time limitations. Philharmagic, Splash Mountain, Pirates, Haunted Mansion and the Railroad (in all the times I had gone to the MK I don't think I ever went on the Railroad! Crazy, I know but it was the last ride we went on because we rode it back to the entrance ). At this point we headed back to the room to get ready for the big dinner!
(We later found out that this was the day Michael Phelps was at the MK to celebrate his gold medals. Ok, I love Disney, but couldn't they have advertised a little! We had NO idea and we were infatuated with Michael Phelps. We were there 2 hours after he was and there was no sign of him or the parade, oh well!)
Craig's pictures:
When we were sitting in the room, I thought - you know we have plenty of time to go back to the MK so we can get some pictures of us with the castle all dressed up! It was a great idea, I'm so glad we took the time to get some professional pics. Before we left we took some pictures at POFQ

Photopass Pics!
Waiting for the Monorail at the Polynesian
On the monorail and it was moving!!!
(I'll finish the update by tomorrow afternoon at the latest! I need to drop off that paper I was talking about earlier )

Awww...Karyn, at least you have a FH who listened quite well when watching the girley bridal show with you (p.s. that's my guilty pleasure, some of those are an absolute riot-"Bridezillas!", but it has to do with my area of study). I'm so sorry to hear you got stuck on the Mnorail for an hour and missed Michael Phelps. That would have been awesome to see. My, my you and Craig look all snazzy all dressed up. I love your pictures. Good luck with your paper.
Great update, Karyn! to hear you were stuck on the monorail and lost some park time. the photos of the two of you dressed up! That Dumbo photo is pretty incredible too. Looking forward to hearing more
