As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great pictures at DHS...glad you enjoyed your breakfast, looks like you made a new friend in Goliath (I must agree we are not rally into the characters as the girls are older but they do serve a wonderful breakfast and Goliath is just too cute )
Great shot of the GMR, I don't know what it is but I love that ride, maybe it is just the atmosphere thing but I can never tire of it...
For some reason I could only see your Photopass pictures in this update, and they were very nice. But I can't see yours or Marks pictures. I hope that this doesn't continue as I am really looking forward to seeing the rest of your pictures.
Glad you enjoyed your meal at H&V. I love the Muppets and The Great Movie Ride. The protein spill is actually pretty funny!

Saturday 18 October – part three: are you sure it’s Mr. Frozone?
We wandered through the Streets of America set and thought about going on the Backlot Tour, but as we got close to the entrance, the wait time went up from 15 to 20 minutes and, to be honest, it looked busier than that, so we passed.
Unfortunately, we were still 20 minutes away from our Fastpass time for Toy Story Mania, so we went into One Man’s Dream. We didn’t look around for long, as we were told that the film would be starting in one minute, so in we went to see that and it really did make me fill up. I’ve said this before. Every Disney fan should see this. It’s a great tribute to the wonderful man who started all of this that we enjoy so much today.
As we were in that area, we decided to go in and get some more characters at the Magic of Disney Animation and we found Frozone. Looking at him, I wasn’t convinced that he was Mr. Frozone, if you know what I mean.
The next stop was Sorceror Mickey, who now has a lovely set up in here. There’s also plenty for the kids to do during the wait to see the Big Cheese.
Then it was back to Toy Story Mania and we were boarding our vehicle in about five minutes. It was a shame to go through the waiting area so quickly, but by now, with a 110 minute wait there was no way I wanted to stand in the other line. :
OK, this ride is amazing. It’s as simple as that. It just absolutely blows Buzz Lightyear’s Space Rangers Spin out of the water and it’s so much easier to see where you’re firing at. Despite that, sadly I was still the worst of our group of four with 63,000, although I did get an accuracy score of 44%, which was way better than Mark’s – he came in with 29%, although he scored a lot more than me. I guess at least that was something. We both loved this and agreed that we would try and ride this again during our stay.
We headed out of the park, stopping for a Photopass picture on the way. I felt like a superstar every time we got one of these done, as the World of Disney New York City Photopass are different to the ones you get at Walt Disney World (and Disneyland for that matter!) They’re red, rather than blue, which meant a lot of the photographers would look at them and say “neat” when they saw it. Some would ask where we got it from, although a few were familiar with them.
We got a few bits in Disney and Company, a holiday beanie of Chip and Dale (nice to see some more merchandise of them appearing in the parks at long last!), a T-shirt for Mark with Chip, Dale and Donald on it. Again, it’s a pleasant change to see Donald appearing on more merchandise.
From there, it was back to the car and back to the Beach Club. They had called us just before 11am on the call to say that our room was ready, which I was very impressed with, as usually it’s never ready before mid afternoon and we were both just saying how cool it would be to have the room ready early for once. Disney answered our wish!

I love your updates, Cheryl! Toy Story Mania looks AMAZING, I can't wait to go on it. And I'm with you on the Chip and Dale merchandise. They are my favorite characters and I've always found it hard to get stuff with them on. I even went to Fort Wilderness just to check out their store and see if they have more Chip and Dale stuff I'm really looking forward to more pictures of the Beach Club Villas as we'll be staying there for the first time next April.
I do know and understand what you mean about "One Man's Dream." We were lucky enough to go and see it while we were there and DS just loved all the things he was able to learn about the "MAN." It was incredible to watch my son learn about him.

You must be right about Photobucket being the problem as I was able to see these pictures fine! TSMM looks great! Glad your room was ready early, I can't wait to see pictures of it. Now I'm off to see yesterdays pics!
