Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Eeek....We've returned..from Disney TR - UPDATED 11/1

I know that I have posted a PTR before but with things changing figured I would go ahead and write another one. In case anyone missed it before.

Cast of Characters:
Me (Kim) 36 - should be a member of Disney Overplanners Annonymous. Have over 20 trips to the World under my belt..and I never get tired...just crazy I tell ya.....

DF (Judy) My roommate...if you can call her that..she stays in the other trailer on the property...this will be her 2nd trip to Disney..but her 1st MNSSHP, Sea World and Arabian Nights.

DD (Jessica) my 17 year old minime (not so mini as she is taller than me) Will be her 2nd trip to the World, she has also been to Disneyland 4 times. Will be her 2nd MNSSHP...last one will be almost 10 years to the day. Wasn't planning on her going, but decided to ask her dad if she could go, he said yes, and I told her on her birthday back in Aug that she is going to DISNEYWORLD! So this is a belated birthday gift for her. But YEA!! for her being 17 still, she got the childs rate when it came to the room and MYW tickets.

Started planning this trip on the return from the Jan 08 trip, wanted to go back cause 5 days was just too hectic, no real down time. Reservation started out at the Contemporary, but then got to thinking, wouldn't it be nice if we could have more room (even though staying in the A frame (tower) has always been a dream of mine. But this gives me a reason for another trip, as if I need another reason

So it was settled, Ft Wilderness Cabins, never stayed there before, so why not. It does have a boat to the MK ( love riding the monorail, so easy access once across the water)

Then got to thinking about the 10:45 am flight, since I am almost 1 1/2 hours away from DFW thought should get a hotel the night before we leave, somewhere near the airport. So my vacation actually started Oct 22, we don't arrive at Disney till the 23rd.

Oct 23rd - Arrival day! - Leave DFW at 10:45am....arrive MCO at 2:15pm Head on down to the ME...hopefully not a long delay with leaving..cause I need to pick up the golf cart by 5pm. Nothing planned just relax and prefer for a very late dinner and show at the Hoop De Do Revue at 9:15pm

Oct 24th - 1st full day - EPCOT - sleep in and then head to the park - it is EM Evening Hours - We have ADRs at Biergarten at 6:25 then hopefully will find a good spot for Illuminations.

Oct 25th - get up semi early and head to Sea World - then Arabian Nights dinner show that evening.

Oct 26th - Hollywood Studios - also EM Evening Hours - ADRs are at Hollywood and Vine at 6:10. Have decided on catching the late 9pm show of Fantasmic. Hopefully it won't be so busy at that time.

Oct 27th - Nothing planned for this day - maybe DTD - I would like to head over to the MK in the evening - to catch Spectromagic and Wishes - also EM Evening at the MK

Oct 28th - No plans during the day - maybe head over to the MK about 1pm or so - ADRs are at 6:45pm at LTT - the MNSSHP - looking forward to the Boo to you Parade (headless horseman is my hero!! )

Oct 29th - Nothing planned - maybe a little AK just to ride EE - ADRs are Spirit of Aloha at 5:45pm.

Oct 30th - Go back home - flight leaves at 5:40pm

This group is the best....putting up with tons of questions etc...and always offering the best advice....at least y'all didn't jump down my throught for a mistake I made in the report as another disney web community did.

Meant to type.....since DD daughter is 17 she gets childs rate on room.......which helps. And they were all in an uproar about me posting that she also got childs MYW tickets........

Off my soap box now.............

The day we left for Dallas

It Begins, Oct 22, 2008. Had to get up early because the brakes of the car were acting funny (kept smelling burning brakes). Got that fixed, went to the store to get more dog food for the ever growing Bloodhound "Dixie" and the German Shephard "Dozer" puppies.

Got the car packed and were finally off to DFW to the Grand Hyatt. On the way got lost in Dallas, ended up near Love Field, stopped got directions and finally got going the right way. Arrived at the hotel about 4pm, checked in, the room had a view of the runway, absolutely beautiful at night (sorry didn't get any pictures of this day/ night)

About 5pm called downstairs for them to hail me a cab so we could go to Rainforest Cafe for dinner. The cab was so I wouldn't get lost again...lol..

Dinner was alright, but since I go for the scenery, I had fun just the same. After dinner, headed back to the hotel, to get some sleep so we could be up in the morning for the flight to Disney.

Will be continueing this later..along with pictures........

Flight there, the Cabin and Hoop

The day started very quietly. Woke up around 8am. Got our showers. Checked out of the hotel. Had to get the car out of valet and repark the car. Then the fun started again. After I parked the car I got lost finding my way back to the security area of the airport. In getting myself turned around I ended up at the very 1st floor of the airport which is where baggage claim is. I had left the roommate "Judy" on the level we needed to be on, she was waiting with our luggage. So I had to ask a nice policeman, who I will just mention right here, was very very good looking, how do I get back to the main entrance for the Grand Hyatt.

After returning to where I was supposed to be we headed through the security checkpoint and had no other problems from then on out. Met my daughter at her gate, then we all headed over to the gate that we would leave out from to head to Orlando. Flight was very smooth, except one complaint, they now charge for snacks..ugh I had no idea they did that.

Arrived at Orlando, headed on down to the ME area. Got right on the bus and left about 10 min after that. Arrived at Ft Wilderness (3rd stop) waited about 15 min in line. Recieved the golf cart and headed to the cabin.

The cabins were awesome. Golf Cart is a must unless you are near the Settlement area.
