The Third Time’s the Charm! Fourth (Third) Annual Mom and Me Trip--Updated twice on 10/21--now COMPLETE - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Mable’s Sweet Tip: Never skip dessert. Especially at breakfast.
I was up before the wake up call this morning. Since DM was getting up with me, I put on speakerphone when Stitch and Mickey called. It was the first time DM has ever heard the wakeup call (she usually hangs right up without listening Blasphemy!).
I volunteered to get ready first so DM could rest a bit more (and then I’d have some balcony time waiting for her ). Once we were both ready, we strolled over to the Beach Club for our breakfast. Before we checked in, I looked to see if Art was on duty, but he wasn’t.
When we checked in, the CM told us that Donald was making his debut at Cape May Café that morning. And then our server told us. And then the CM with Donald told us. It was BIG NEWS! I was happy, especially considering we would be eating at LTT that night, with almost the same lineup. This gave me a lot more variety.
There weren’t any characters near us, so we got up and filled our plates. The food was tasty, and I was happy to get a Mickey waffle to start my day. DM enjoyed everything she ate too. The first to visit the table was Donald.
Did you know this was the first day Donald was at Cape May Café? But what you probably didn’t know was Donald replaced Chip & Dale (so I was happy that I’d get to see them at dinner).
I told Donald I was thrilled to see him and he gave me lots of kisses in return. Next to our table was Minnie. I just love her outfit!
And finally, Goofy. I’d worn a Goofy t-shirt just for him, and when I told him so, I got lots of love!
Goofy danced with DM, but it took her a long time to figure out what he was trying to do, which is why she has kind of a strange look on her face. It was early.
After our breakfast, we were totally stuffed, so we both said we wouldn’t be eating anything until our dinner that night at 5:00. Any guesses who eats something first?
We looked for Art again, but he still wasn’t there. We were heading to the Studios today and as we walked out, you guessed it, a boat was arriving. I walked fast to make sure we’d make it, but I didn’t really have to. We made it to the Studios shortly after opening and headed straight for Pixar Place.
I wanted to get this out of the way first thing, before things got too crazy. I decided that we’d use the standby line and then I’d get 2 FPs for TOT and single ride RNRC. The standby was posted at 45 minutes, but we only waited 30.
Another reason I wanted to go the standby route is because this was DM’s first time on TSM. We had fun checking out the queue and she got to see Mr. Potato Head. They’ve adjusted the volume so you don’t have to hear his jokes before you can see him. DM really got a kick out of Mr. Potato Head, and she loved the game!
She really had fun, but was slightly embarrassed by her score. I think she did great for someone who’s never played video games before. After the ride, we looked around in the shop for a bit. The last time I’d been here, this part of the street had been behind walls, so it was cool to finally get a look at it.
There’s a meet & greet area, a little spot to stage fun photos and a merchandise shop, along with a little food kiosk.
We walked over to Sunset Boulevard and a Photopass CM offered to take our picture. DM wanted to, since my favorite ride would be in the background. The CM also took one with my camera.
DM had to go to the bathroom, so I gave her my AP with instructions to go and then pick up 2 FPs for me for the TOT while I went and used the SR entrance over at RNRC.
There was one person ahead of me in the SR line (the standby was only 30 minutes). I noticed in the little holding area there are a bunch of t-shirts, which seemed new to me. Were there always t-shirts as well as posters?
I ended up near the back of the limo, and I had a clip in my hair, which made for quite a bumpy ride. I didn’t feel like riding it again after that, so I went out and found my DM. The FPs she’d picked up for me were about 10 minutes from being ripe, so I used the standby line, which was 20 minutes. This was one of my favorite rides of the trip because the guy sitting next to me was screaming like a 6-year-old girl. I looked over at him and he was making a face that led me to believe he was honestly frightened. He was a big strapping guy, too, so I (unkind soul that I am) found this to be stinkin’ hilarious! I even took a picture of our ride photo, just to remember it.
He’s the big guy in the yellow shirt
When I found DM checking out the gift shop, I had to tell her about him, and then I pointed him out since he was just coming out. While we were in the gift shop, I did some shopping myself and bought the HTH robe that I’ve had my eye on for like the last 7 trips. DM got a few things too and we had them all sent back to the BWI.
My FPs were ready to use, so I left DM on a bench and headed in. On my second drop there was a large group of teens and I thought about Andy (Brit Invader) and his “This is it!” I would’ve ripped him off (I mean, done a tribute ) but I felt kinda dorky to do it being all alone.
On my third time through, there was a really odd man in the elevator. He kept making monkey noises. You know, like ooo-ooo-ooo. STRANGE! But I found it slightly hilarious because I have the sense of humor of a 12-year-old boy.
When I exited, I found DM on a bench.
Busted!!
So much for being too full to eat anything until dinner. She lasted a good two hours! I’d done everything that I wanted to do at the Studios, so I asked DM what she wanted to do. She thought the GMR might be fun, so that’s where we headed.
I noticed that both sides of the queue were open, so I asked a CM if they were operating both versions of the ride and she said they were. I was prepared to ask for the cowboy version, but we got it without asking. I talked to Mom about Cyd Charisse blowing smoke out of her nose like a bull and she laughed and told me that was sexy back in the day. Can you imagine? Even she laughed at the thought.
We were lucky enough to be sitting next to a know-it-all who talked through most of the ride. Anyway, as I said, we got the cowboy version, which I like better because of the bank going up in flames. When you go through this in the gangster version, there’s just a crispy black bank with no explanation. I got some pictures.
When we stopped in the Wizard of Oz room, I was right next to a certain munchkin that gave me one of my patented giggle fits.
What’s so funny about that? Well nothing! At least not to normal people. I, on the other hand, am completely strange and find the Lollipop Guild scene from The Wizard of Oz to be one of the funniest things EVAH!!! Stinkin’ hilarious, I tells ya! It makes me wonder what they were going for, because it comes off as weird and kinda creepy. And stinking hilarious. See for yourself! Click here -> Lollipop Guild on You Tube.
Now, see, I went and clicked on the stupid link and have the giggles all over again. Give me a moment to contain myself. OK. Moving on. I did take one more photo before the end of the ride.
During the film at the end (which I really enjoy), Mr. Know It All proved his vast knowledge by shouting out the titles of the films. Except he really didn’t know that many. He would only call out every 3rd or 4th movie. Not a very good know-it-all at all. DM even said something about him.
We were done at DHS, so we decided to head back to the BWI to rest for a bit since this was our MNSSHP night. But first…
Hey, DM started it! And besides, she got something too!
When we got to the boat dock a boat was waiting for us. Back at the BWI, we decided to take a little peek in Seashore Sweets. I really loved their Captain Jack Sparrow cookies!
DM and I both got some fudge for later. Any bets on how long the fudge lasted? I wanted to take a swim, so we headed up to our room. And the Mousekeeper was there! Second day in a row! I was actually glad to see her because she hadn’t taken the mousekeeping envelope I’d left the day before, and now I was sure I could give her double.
I quickly changed into my bathing suit and came out to find DM cutting herself a piece of fudge. It didn't last 5 minutes! DM and I headed down to the Luna Park pool. I really loved the look of the pool!
And since I was at the pool bar, I needed to get a Sour Apple Freeze.
It wasn’t as good as before, but that’s possibly because they were pre-made. Once I’d finished, I figured I’d take a dip in the hot tub. Unfortunately, the hot tub wasn’t hot. It was cool. Not working at all. So I went to the regular pool. Which was frigid. I still got in for a while, but decided not to go down the slide, because I didn’t want to get out and have to get back in again.
After I’d had my fill of the cold pool, I collected DM and we headed up to our room. We relaxed there for a bit on the balcony, where we got to see Breathless taking a spin.
Then we changed for the party.
Up Next: “I Got a Rock.”

Your mom sounds like me with her sweet tooth. I am always saying that I just need a bite of something sweet! Anyway, great updates and I look forward to more!
This update had me crackin' up! Ok, I always thought when the munchkins were singing they were saying "the lollipop KID"... I know totally doesn't make sense! THanks for putting me straight and making me laugh hysterically!
Great update. I knew the fudge wouldn't last to long. I'm glad to hear Donald is at Cape May, we may have to do breakfast there again since he is one of my sons favorites. Can't wait to hear about MNSSHP.

You two crack me up narcing out each other! Now that chocolate shake looked right down my alley! Do you purchase that at Eileen's famous "pretzel place"?
And I cracked up I tell ya at the picture of that big strapping guy grabbing hold of anything or anyone to save him from ToT! Wait . . . that will probably be me if I ever get the nerve to ride it again!
What a wonderful morning! And I love the idea of Donald at CMC!
Great update. I love the picture of the guy with the yellow shirt on TOT. He looks terrified. What is that chocolatey drink you have in your hand? It looks so good. Your TR is definitely making me hungry, lol. I need to go to WDW with your DM. My sweet tooth is almost as bad as hers.
Great updates Sharon - looks like Chris and I made the right decision not to go to AC that night - I wanted him to see it - not the outside of it... so as much as I will miss it - I am glad we did not go that last night.
We saw the breathless that afternoon on the waterway in front of MGM - must have been right after you saw it from your balcony.
That was one awesome day....and ya haven't even hit the party yet!
Glad you girls could get your fill of breakfast goodies and sweet treats at CMC. I don't know Sharon, you seem to be a um ~magnet~ for some interesting characters in your day at MGM!
Sorry the pool was a bit on the chilly side.
