As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Have you ever watched a Cirque du Soleil show in Vegas? Which one did you see and was it good? They have a new show called "Believe". It stars Criss Angel, the guy from Mind Freak. Anyone heard about this?

It depends on how avant garde you are. I saw a clip of "Believe" on So You Think You Can Dance this summer and it's super freaky. The show is choreographed by Wade Robeson, who's freaky in his own right. I didn't think it was a Cirque show, but that doesn't mean it isn't....
Regarding the Cirque shows, there are so many to chose from. The 'original' is "Mystere" at Treasure Island (at least, I think it's still there) which is classis Cirque. Then you have "O" (the French word for water - eau - is pronounced "O") at Bellagio which is fabulous but pricey. You have "Ka" at MGM which I've heard OK things about and "Zumanity" at New York New York, which is very VERY adult themed (I believe children under 18 aren't allowed). "Le Reve" (the dream), at Wynn, is not specifically "Cirque" but is by the creator of the company, so it is reminscent.
My personal favorite is "LOVE" at Mirage. I'm not a huge fan of Cirque, though I appreciate it, so this one, which is all Beatles music, is great. One of the younger boys in the show is the grandson of the owner of my kids' gym, so he works out there the day that my kids are in their classes. He's was also on the Grammys when they did the Beatles stuff last year, so that's really cool!
I have seen Mystère at Treasure Island and KÀ at the MGM Grand. Both were wonderful shows but I preferred KÀ because of the music and the storyline. I recommend KÀ for new Cirque viewers because of that storyline; most other Cirque shows revolve around a theme instead of an actual story. My in-laws have been to both LOVE at the Mirage and O at the Bellagio. F-I-L liked LOVE more, but I think you might have to be a Beatles fan to really love it (and my F-I-L is). My M-I-L seemed to prefer O.
Personally I am not terribly interested in the Criss Angel Cirque show. The theme looks a bit creepy to me and his magic shows always seem so fake. But I will probably see it one of these times I go to Vegas anyway.

We saw Ka, Zumanity and O the last time we were in Vegas. Of the three, O was our favourite - it was just outstanding. We'll be seeing it again in a few weeks time and will also be seeing Love and Mystere. I toyed with going to see Criss Angel as well, but we don't really have time while we're there and, like others, I thought it looked a bit freaky as well.
I've never been to Vegas so I haven't seen the Cirque shows there, but I just have to recommend the Cris Angel show. We saw him at a tiny theater in Times Square a few years ago, before he actually made it big. It was one of the most incredible shows I've ever, ever seen. The stuff he did was unbelievable... literally jaw-dropping and insane! His TV show was nothing compared to his live show, and I can only imagine what he'll be able to do in such a huge theater. I highly recommend his shows if you get a chance!
We loved it. Whatever Cirque show you pick will be expensive, but after seeing the technology involved in "O" I felt better about the price I had paid. The water tank is amazing! Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.
I've only seen O in Vegas, but DH got us tickets in the 3rd row and I think my mouth was open in amazement the entire show. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. About 2 years later we saw La Numba and we weren't nearly as impressed with that show as we were with O.

Mystere - Is the most traditional Cirque show and my personal favorite. I've seen it twice and it's one of those shows I could see many times and would notice something new each time. I the overall feeling of the show. If you've seen La Nouba and enjoyed it - you also love Mystere. It's also the least expensive of all of the Cirque shows in Las Vegas.
'O' - Definitely the most technological of the 3. You will be amazed at how the pools of water appear and disappear as if by magic. It is amazing, but to me it lost some of the charm of the other Cirques shows I've seen. I've gone twice and enjoyed it, but it's not calling me back like the others.
Love - If like me you're a child of this era and enjoy Beatle's music - I highly recommend this show. It's done in the round and incorporates many Cirque principles with the music of John, Paul, George and Ringo. I've only seen this show once, but would like to go again.
I really want to see Ka and have no desire to see Zumanity. I know several people who have gone and the opinions tend to be running 2 to 1 against the show. For a Cirque show that's not very good.
Going to Vegas in May I want to see the Criss Angel one......saw him a few years ago and am interested in what his show is like in Vegas at the Luxor.....if I can talk my mom into going......lol
I'm going to see Penn & Teller tonight (for free, even!) so, if you like, I can report on how their show is. I know they're a little bit much to take and their humor is very off....

This is what happens when Cirque tries to go "Vegas" and I predict that it will be the first one to close, if they close any down. I've heard a rumor that Vegas is looking at families again and ways to draw them in (they feel the economy will affect the crowd that's been coming recently). We tried it once and it didn't work that well (catering to families, that is), so I'm not sure how it will go over a second time.
Though, if Vegas really wanted families, they'd get rid of the flyers on The Strip and the billboards for all of the "gentlemen's clubs".
Trivia - did you know that The Strip is technically not in Las Vegas? Nor is McCarran Airport. The actual city limits end around Charleston, which is about a mile north of the Sahara Hotel. The rest is "Unincorporated Clark County".
I've seen Mystere and O. Mystere was wonderful, but O was my favorite by far! We were four rows up, some of the magic might be lost further away...but if you can get good tickets I would definitely recommend O. I definitely want to see Love at some point - I haven't heard glowing reviews about Ka, so I would probably pass on that one. Zumanity sounds interesting, but again the reviews have been so-so. I'm not aware of the one you mentioned....good luck with your choice! You can't really go wrong with Cirque du Soleil
I've seen several Cirque shows but I've only seen one in Vegas. In fact, I planned my whole trip around the Beatles: Love show! Love was fantastic! Here's my review from yelp:
"The best Cirque show I have ever seen! Then again I am a die hard Beatles fan (even going so far as taking a pilgrimage to Liverpool and London) With that being said, this show is a MUST SEE for ANY BEATLES fan who steps foot on the strip. It was such a beautiful experience that I found myself tearing up!! Really it was that amazing!
For those of you who are a casual Beatles listener or not really into Rock take note: I took my cousin along with me (who isn't really into the Beatles (more of a r&b / dance/ Hip hop lover) At first she was complaining about the seats and the price of the tickets saying I hope it worth it..bla..bla...bla ( you get the drill) So anyway after a short break in one of the songs she turned to me and with complete sincerity said, "Oh, my god. I am speechless. This is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen" ) Well you couldn't get her to stop raving about it afterward!!!!
We had upper level seats, but the view was still amazing. As many others say there is not a bad seat in the house. At first we thought we were going to have an obstructed view because of large white curtains that were hanging near us but that turned out to be part of a stunning effect!
*honestly, if I flew out to Vegas, saw the show and flew back that same night. I would be completely happy. That's how passionate I feel about this amazingly beautiful show!"
I saw Penn & Teller last night at the Rio Hotel. It actually wasn't as "off" in humor as I expected. It was entertaining and lighthearted. DH was a little disappointed that it wasn't as much as he expected and he has a favorite trick of theirs (Trap Door) that they didn't do. Overall, if money isn't an object, I'd say stick with the Cirque shows. But for a little break, or if Criss Angel is a little too much, then it's a nice show to catch.
