Family, friends, and a Baby!! 8 is definitely enough!! POFQ 8/11-8/15 **Updated 9/21** COMPLETE - Page 27 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks so much Melissa and Crissy for posting the live updates!!! Hope ya'll enjoyed. . . . . .
We had a good time. I won't say great only because it was much more crowded than I would have liked! The kids down there start school tomorrow and if I'd have known that, we may have gone this week instead of last . . . . . .
Other than the crowds, I really can't complain about much. It was really great getting to meet Melissa and Andy, although I would have liked for it to have been longer. The night we were supposed to meet for FAB's, my group really had to get on some lines at Epcot, because they were really long and the FastPasses were all gone
I'm hoping to upload the pictures tonight or tomorrow and have the first update up by tomorrow night.
Okay, so I know all my loyal followers are dying for me to get started already BUT . . . . . I just had to share a breakthrough I made today.
I was on disneyworld.com (I know, shocking ) and I looked for some room only rates for 3 nights in December. All Star Music actually had a rate of $278!!!! I thought that was REALLY good and it will be even cheaper with the AAA discount!!
So I text Danny (DH) and told him about it via text. I figured this was the best way since I wouldn't be subjected to his eye rolling or stunned exclamation of "You want to go back already!" Blah, blah. He is always really busy at work, so I wasn't surprised when he didn't respond. . . .
Then when I get home from my walk, I'm in the kitchen starting dinner, and he says . . . . . wait for it . . . . . . "So did ya book it?" WHAT ????
I said "no" . . . . then I said "would you have been mad if I did?" He responded with a look of "yea, obviously" . . . . I left it at that. I don't want to push it, because that's what throws him totally into "no way" mode.
Baby steps, people. I am making progress. I think it can be done, it just needs to be done very cautiously . . . . .
I think you could use a weekend just you and Danny after all that planning you did for everyone else this year! I actually thought about it while you were away... I thought you too should have stayed a few days later on your own just to relax and enjoy the lovey dovey part of Disney!
PS- $278 is really good! When we were looking to go in December originally I remember it being something like $440 for Pop! Good luck! I loved Winter in the World and I know you guys did too!
And just wondering...
How much does AAA cost per year? Does it pay for itself with the Disney discounts? I always get stuff in the mail from them and throw it away and say "Who needs triple A when I have Rob?!" lol!

I think we saved around $140 for this trip. I personally pay almost $200 for our AAA, because we have 2 people (therefore 2 memberships ) and they also have motorcycle on the membership because of Danny's bike. If you just had one membership with one vehicle, I'm sure the savings would pay for it. You also get free maps and books. This was good for us, because I got some stuff for when we went to Vegas. Check out how much it costs and then ask Suzy to tell you what the savings is between Disney rates and AAA rates.
Also, for my Mom's Disney trip in May - For 5 nights she is saving $144. I know the membership does not cost that much for her.
Looks like I missed out on quite a few live updates but glad you had a good time nonetheless. Time always flies by while at the World-it's just not fair!
I truly hope you are able to get back in December-if I were you I'd make a room-only ressie and quietly slip them one night's charge just to be safe. You know how insanely popular Disney is during that time so I'd rather be safe than sorry & keep a room aside.......you just never know what could happen!!
Can't wait to hear more about your trip......so get on with it girl!!
And away we go . . . . . .
Day 1 - Arrival Day 8/11/08
Today was an early day. How can it not be when you are leaving for Disney ? It was another vacation where Danny worked the night shift, came home at 5am then straight to the airport. No sleep, poor guy. Not that I was too concerned about it - we were leaving for Disney!!!
We loaded the car as soon as he got home, then went to pick up the Beltran's. They only live about 5 blocks away and when we arrived, they were beyond ready to go We loaded the car with their stuff and off to my in-laws. They live 10 minutes from the airport, so this is a really good deal for us, since Danny's dad is always more than willing to drop us off.
We got to the airport a little before 7am. We checked in (Danny and I got exit row!! Woo hoo), went through security, and headed towards the gate. We stopped at the food court so the 7 year old and pregnant one could eat . After that, it was off to the gate to wait for our 8:30am flight. . . .
We took off pretty much on time (we have NEVER left Newark on time). We landed at around 11:30 after a relatively uneventful flight. The Desimones were already there by the DME desk patiently waiting our arrival. It was great to see they got there safely and navigated their way to DME and even checked in, all by themselves
Me and Marilyn went to check in with DME (the line was actually the shortest I've ever seen it!) and off we went to POFQ . . . . . Here are the guys on the DME bus, can't you tell they are excited?? 2008_0815Image0022.jpg
Jimmy
We stopped at OKW first then FQ. It was nice only having to make one stop. By the time we arrived it was just about 1pm. We all headed off to our rooms - we got building 4, which was good, because it's close to the main building. All three of us were next to each other, with our room adjoining Mary and Jimmy's. This was great - we kept the door open alot and just treated it like one big room!! Here are some pics of our room with the un-made bed

We went to the food court to eat lunch before heading out to MK for the rest of our day. The food court here is pretty good, IMO. Danny and I both had chicken quesadillas with rice and beans. Pretty impressive for a food court meal.
I went to the front desk to ensure that Betsy's wonderful baskets would be delivered. They were and everyone absolutely adored them. They couldn't stop thanking us!! That made me really happy. I just wish I could have got pictures of them, but I didn't even think about it
We finally headed off to MK to see how much we could accomplish before our 6:30pm ADR at Chef Mickey's. . . . . . . .
Great start!
I know how you feel with airports-- we don't fly out of NYC anymore as we can't stand the 30-40 minutes late we left twice! We go for smaller, more local airports now! I love how you said your FIL is more than happy to take you everytime-- that is SO my dad! He doesn't even wait for us to ask, he just assumes! lol!
More please?!?!!
Great start, Amanda! Thanks for the room pictures and mini-review of the food court... we are staying at FQ in October and have pretty much decided to eat at the food court our first night.
I'm sure you've thought of this little angle... but... in case you haven't... Christmas in Orlando is way warmer than NJ... it's like "lounge by the pool nice" ... it was last year, anyway. (I was just trying to think of what might sway me... if Brenda brought it up).... I'm just sayin'...

This doesn't sound right to me, Amanda. We have a premium membership for approximately $79/year - we are both on the same membership and have 2 vehicles & a pop-up trailer. We don't have a motorcycle. Not sure how much different the memberships are between regions, but you may want to check on that!
