As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Grace Galvan (named for both of my grandmothers) would have been Celeborn Tiberius (her dad's pick) if she had been a boy. Thank goodness she was born a girl!!!! Although he also made an argument for Galadriel Cae as a girl's name, but since we found out we were pregnant with Grace just a week after my grandmother passed away. (BTW did you notice his theme with the names???? Yes, he is a big Tolkien freak.)
My dad often joked that my name was going to be Gertrude Florinel just to get a rise out of my aunt. I am soooooooooo glad he and mom decided that I was to be named Pamela Renee.
For DD1 I didn't have an alternate name chosen if she had been a boy. But up until she was born she was either going to be Madeline Rose or Ainslie Rose. We went with Madeline. For DD2 we chose Victoria Helen as soon as we knew it was a girl, but Ainslie was our second choice for her as well. DD3 was almost Jennifer Ainslie, but we switched the names around instead and she is Ainslie Jennifer (DH likes to call her AJ). We finally got our Ainslie and sometimes I wonder why we waited to use the name because I love it. If either DD2 or DD3 had been a boy we had chosen Joseph Lane as the name. No need to use it though.

"When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable." ~ Walt Disney
DS1 was always to be Joshua David (I don't remember if we picked a girl name?)
DS2 would have been Sara Catherine if he was a girl, but ended up being Jeffrey William
DD2 HAD to have a "J" name at this point and it was hard - there are so many girl "J" names that I just didn't want for different reasons but DH liked Jamie (I really didn't) and we couldn't agree on a boy "J" name either believe it or not!
Thankfully, at the point she needed a name, I didn't care too much and I guess Jamie grew on me, so she is Jamie Cathereine (neither of us wanted Sara anymore).
The dog was named by Josh when he was 4 - he wanted to call her Batman, I wanted to call her Indiana/Indy (then she would be Indiana Jones!) but somehow she ended up being Shelby Woo (it used to be a show on Nick he watched sometimes I think).
The cat (Necco Wafer) was before kids and that's what I picked, period.
Stefanie was always Alyss (now her middle name) from the beginning, but it took us several months to decide on Stefanie. If she had been a boy, she would have been Mark Andrew.
Cute thread. I was suppose to be a "Lisa", but my mom's brother "stole" the name for his daughter. My daughter, Alexandria (Lexi) Kay, if a boy would have been Jackson Lance. We had three girl names picked out (Jordyn Kay, Lindsey Kay and Alexandria Kay), but it took two days for us to choose a name. We asked three very important people in our lives to help us choose and they all chose a different name...finally we asked the nurse and she picked Alexandria Kay...so Alexandria Kay it was!

Andrew was going to be Megan Catherine if he was a girl. My ex-husband wanted Charles Francis II but I quickly put down that suggestion.
I was going to be Eric if I had been a boy.
My first dd boy name was Aidan Paul. Her girl names were Ava or Avery but when she was born she looked like a Halle as in Halle Berry. My dh wanted to change the e to and i so she became Halli Danielle (Danielle after me ).
My second dd boy name was Aidan Paul. Her girl name was Karis Elizabeth from the word go though we did not tell anyone. We did throw around other girl names but we were set on Karis.
My ds boy name was/is Aidan Paul! We did talk about Wyatt but obviously we love the name Aidan. His girl name was Gemma, though my dh did not know this. I knew Aidan was a boy just as I knew my girls would be girls - a mommy instinct.
I would love to have another girl and name her Gemma! I love that name. I should not have anymore babies as I almost died from having Aidan. So unless we adopt a child I suppose I will need to get a dog or cat.
Oh, yeah, my name would have been Colin had I been a boy.
Danielle

I was going to be named Scott Alan if I was boy but I came out a girl and they named after my father. Dad is Dennis Dawson and I am Dawn Denise. My mom didn't have a boy named picked out when she had my sister.
I already posted DD's almost name, but I have to share the Twilight Zone almost name story from DH's family.
When I was pregnant, DMIL found the baby name book they'd used. Written inside the back cover were their top choices. They had three boys - Richard, James and Donald. But their top three girl names were Joan, Linda and Carol.
Their daughters in law are -- Joanne, Linda and Carolyn.
my DS1 would have been Pauline Samantha (my grams name and nickname), and DS2 would have been Ashley Rose (a combo of my DSis middle name and DSIL middle name). with the DS1,Devin Micheal, I got to name him....DS2,Thomas Joseph, we opted for family names (combo of DFIL 1st name and DBro middle mame).

That is reeaaalllllyyyy creepy! But kinda cool too!
Nick would have been Kayley Rose which is kind of funny because Dh's cousin named his daughter that and she was born 3 weeks after Nick (we did not tell each other names either). I didn't have another boy name picked out, Nicholas was my first choice. I had also thought of Isabella for a girl, until my brother heard it and wouldn't stop making comments.
For pets, my cat was originally called Dexter (my stepson was in to Dexter's Laboratory) until we found out that HE was actually a SHE so we called her DeeDee (Dexters annoying sister)
I don't know what I would have been called if I was a boy. Probably the family name: Rocco. I did have other names before my parents decided on Jennifer. I remember that they were toying around with Carrie or Jessica for me. My middle name is my moms middle name: Ann. I know my husband's other name would have been Randy Joseph instead of Ricky Joseph. Thankfully he's a Ricky. Our cat was tough to name. DH wanted to name her Sunshine. I named her Rosie. She's orange and was just so cute. We do have our kids names picked out, at least their first names, if we ever get the chance to have a baby anyways.
