As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We saw Danny Divito, Rhea Pearlman and their kids at Splash Mountain. They came in the exit and went on the ride from there. They were really nice, they talked to people and did a few autographs. People kinda just said hi and nice to met you and left them alone. I was impressed with how they handled it all and their kids were great to.
Oh so not fair.... I am a celebrity lover.... but not stalker status ((haha)) We go every year and i havent seen anyone. I must not be going at the right time of the year... The next time you see a celebrity tell them to come back in June, so i can see them too!! The funny thing is I would act totally normal about it, but would love to see them... Especially Reese Witherspoon would top my list & Johnny Depp!!!!
It wasn't exactly at WDW, but in 2003 I saw Doug Flutie at the Orlando airport as he and his family were heading home from WDW. I was on the same flight as them, and I was upgraded to first class, so I was all excited thinking I'd be sitting in first class with Doug Flutie. But nope, he and his family were in coach.
Does DCA count? We were there a few years back, and a little boy (maybe 5 yo) almost ran me down. Then his dad chased after him, also almost running me down. That time I didn't mind, as dad was Pierce Brosnan! I wanted to turn around and follow him, but I didn't think my family would like that.
We saw Kyle Massey (Disney Channel That's So Raven and Corey in the House). He was hanging out during EMH at MK and was nice enough to pose for a picture with the kids. He was really kind and very down to earth. The kids were thrilled. The funny part is that is was DH (who is so NOT into the tween scene) that recognized him!

When I was younger, we saw the cast of Boy Meets World while they were there shooting an episode. Last time we were on the cruise (4th of July 2005). Dikembe Mutombo (NBA player) was on it. Although we never noticed him until after our stop in Nassau (which is hard to do when he is over 7' tall) and then he was every where we went; a couple of rows behind us in shows and a couple of tables over from us at dinner. At deembarkation, he stood right beside me. The tip of my head came up to the tip of his elbow!! He had a ton of family with him. Every couple of trips or so I will see the VIP guides with NFL players.
Last April we heard that while we would be at WDW all the Disney Stars would be there filming the "Disney Channel Games". My 16 year old daughter laughingly said "cool" and that she would just tell all her friends she met Corbin Bleu of HSM. Imagine her suprise when she and her dad rode Mission Space and Corbin and his dad (another Disney Channel actor) were on the ride accompanied by a CM. Corbin was sweet and said hello and she was over the moon! It made a great trip even more magical!! Then the next day we saw Brenda Song (London from the Ste Life of Zach and Cody) being interviewed for a segment of the Disney Channel.

That's awesome! If I were on the same plane with Doug Flutie, I'd probably pass out...I've had a crush on him since the mid-'80s Fortunately, my DH is very understanding and even got me a Flutie jersey for Christmas when he was with the Patriots a few years ago!

Laurie (aka LeapDayBaby) having a blast with Mickey and Goofy at Epcot, August 2006
Seven trips to WDW (1975, 1982, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2013, 2014)! Next trip: Soon, I hope!
I've been jingled! Thanks Sandy!
We had dinner at the California Grill Xmas 2001. We were seated next to Micheal Eisner and two tables away from Regis Philbin. Walking around Epcot the next day we saw Marion Jones, the sprinter and the comedian Wayne Brady.
I walked down the hall of Animal Kingdom Lodge with Chris Rock. He had his daughter on his back. He looked at me and said good morning. Now, if it was someone that I really liked(not that I don't really like him, I haven't really seen anything with him, just know who he is), I would've been dumbfounded!!
Chris Rock helped me write my wedding speech! I'm not kidding! Well, he and some other comics, anyway. He didn't actually sit down with me and write it... well, its a long story. Suffice to say he helped me write it!
I have seen all kinds of celebs in NYC and never, not once, I have seen a celeb at WDW! And you know what that means, don't you??? I am the celebrity when I visit Walt Disney World!

We saw Vincent D'Onofrio (I think one of those Law and Order shows) while standing in line waiting for the Gingerbread house to open at GF. He was about 20 people in front of us

I have a "thing" for spotting famous people, especially in Manhattan, which is sometimes hard because everyone just blends. I see the famous all over the place, yet I have NEVER seen anyone in WDW. I think I'm so preoccupied with my own MAGIC that I don't pay attention! I did see Martha Plimpton in DL. My sister and her best friend went on an Alan Thicke Quest when they were 15 and he was hosting the Easter Parade. They ended up on the key-only suite floor of the GF just wandering around. Think Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz....
Ok, a celeb could come up and hit me in the face and I wouldn't know who they were! So many times my DH will say "hey, that is So and So!" and 15 minutes later I am like who?? "What did they play on? Oh, they were on a sports team? And at the ESPN Club next door to our resort?? That soooooo means nothing to me, but thanks for sharing hunny!"
To answer your question, no, I have not seen famous people at DW or at DL. I did see Tom Skeritt at LAX and that was after Top Gun. Bet that doesn't count huh! Oh, i so just dated myself! In my defense, i was only 12!
