The Mighty Morphing Birthday Trip - Thread 2 - COMPLETE!! - UPDATED 12/1 - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry about those kids ruining the atmosphere for you. I wouldn't be surprised if their parents were still in their room at the time. Glad they finally gave you some peace! Hurry back!

Maybe the parents were enjoying some 'romantic atmosphere' on their own somewhere else? I don't understand some parents though - if they were there with the kids - completely oblivious!

Once we got to Epcot I paused to pout over the changes that had been made since yesterday...
Then we made our usual bee line for England. First on the birthday night list... hit up the pub ! Andy and I both grabbed a drink, my usual Harp, his usual Guiness. Then we walked over and got in place for the British Invasion.
I LOVE this picture!! Check out Eye Love back there behind me!! (If you don't know what I'm referring to with Eye Love I'm going to quote from my Blowing my Bonus Check Before it's Cashed Christmas Trip (last Dec.)
Quote:
Andy said that the guy there on the left was making "eye love" with the girls in the audience b/c I told him that I made eye contact with him while he was up there.
I have to post this next picture b/c I think it's hilarious. Andy called it "Fake Paul's deer in the headlight's picture"
And then I had to have my picture made with the "eye love" guy...
We laughed about "eye love" the rest of the trip! I bet Andy has forgotten so when he reads this I hope he gets a good giggle
Anyyhoooo... we still get a good laugh when we talk about Eye Love.
After all that silliness the Harp and Guiness and gotten to us, maybe it was the heat, maybe it was the fact that we split a sandwich for lunch, maybe it was both?? So what better to do when you're feeling a little fuzzy than to go shopping?? We hit the shops in England and we both bought ourselves a Beatles tshirt. I swear, the only time Andy buys anything for himself at WDW it's in England and it's Beatles related. Last summer he bought a book, last Dec. he bought a shirt, and this year he bought another shirt and a lunchbox (I think that's right....he bought the lunchbox but now I can't remember if he got it in the summer or last Dec.....) Anyway....my fuzzy state decided to take a really crappy picture of him making his purchase...
Once our alcohol induced shopping crave was satisfied we headed over towards Canada for #2 on the birthday night list, dinner at my (and Andy's) favorite, Le Cellier. We had a few minutes so I took a few photos outside...
We checked in and were seated rather quickly. I can't remember which province, it's been too long, but our waiter was outstanding! He was so friendly and personable and easy to talk to. We had a good time chatting with him. He helped us pick out this....
The unibroue - FAB! I had the Maudite and Andy had the La Fin Du Monde. Our waiter made a big presentation out of it when he brought it to the table. Each unibroue has a story behind it so he told both stories for ours. Andy says he wants to try and purchase one of those glasses when we go back.
We started with appetizers of course... Andy had the duck two ways. In my best Janice voice... "Oh My God" it was fab! He was kind enough to share a few bites with me. I of course had the cheddar cheese soup. And the bread.....ohhhh the bread. Man I love that place......And our waiter was nice enough to give me the recipe for the soup with a nice birthday note on the back
Here's Andy getting ready to dig into one of the ways of the duck....
For our main courses Andy of course had a steak dish. I don't remember exactly which one, but that boy is a firm believer in getting steak at Le Cellier. I think he thinks its blasphemous to get anything else. Oh well, I guess I am a sinner because I have to get a seafood dish when I go..... so I opted for the shrimp and scallop bouillabaisse which was AB FAB!
A hammy picture of Andy ready to dig in....
I tried to be a little more civil....
Our waiter brought me a birthday mousse dessert which was wonderful!
I honestly can't remember what we ordered for dessert. Andy had a chocolate cake of some sort (he always goes for the chocolate cake) and I may have had the creme brulee b/c I love creme brulee but I really can't remember.... might have had something to do with 9% unibroue.....
I mean, I think this looks like a nice happy unibroue birthday face...
What do you think?
After our wonderful dinner we stumbled (not really but it sounds good) out and wandered some more around England...
A few pics along the way..
We walked on towards France, stopped and had our picture made by a photopass guy. It was the first time I'd seen one around in that area. He was positioned so he got the Eiffel Tower in the background. We also stopped and grabbed our EMH wristbands because that was #4 on the birthday night list. And I know I skipped #3, it's coming up....
Once we crossed over into France we set up camp right off the bridge for.... thing #3 on the list...Illuminations. I took a few pictures while we waited for the show to begin...
It wasn't the most prime spot for watching Illuminations if you're trying to video or take pictures, but that didn't matter to us at that moment. We had already done the pictures and video earlier in the trip. This was just a relax and enjoy the moment kind of moment....
Perhaps Andy was relaxing a little too much....
I mean, he didn't have that much unibroue
I did snap a few shots of the show...
After Illuminations we hung around and waited for some crowds to clear so we could enjoy thing #4 on the birthday list....Epcot PM EMH....and that will be coming up next.....
Mary Devall and I had fun summer before last swimming against the strong current in WL pool - - you aren't kidding about it being hard to stay in one place!
You two always do Epcot up right! I loved reading every second of it!
What a great evening Melissa Glad you had a great meal at LeCellier I love your Unibroue face And that birthday dessert looks delish !! And love the picture of Andy sleeping waiting for IllumiNations
Wonderful updates Melissa - your meal at Le Cellier sounds divine and I love the photos while you were waiting for Illuminations, especially that one of Andy "relaxing"...
