As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The \"Twisted Arm, Broken Toe, US & WDW TR 8/1-8/14\" - THREAD 2 - VIDEO Update 12/15
This is THREAD 2 of my trip report.
If you would like to start at the first episode, here is THREAD 1
On with the show.....

Monday, August 7, 2006 – Day 7 – Part 1
Now playing: Puddle jumping through the Magic Kingdom
Stitch & Mickey woke me up at 6:30am and, again, I didn’t roll out of bed until 7:15am or so. Ryan arrived at 7:45am, while I was finishing up in the shower. Again, Kyle had to roll out of bed to let Ryan in, which got both Kyle & Jeffrey moving this morning. I was beginning to think we needed to have Ryan dropped off at our resort every trip to WDW, just for the added convenience of having a human alarm clock other than me!

We were all ready fairly quickly. Jeffrey insisted that I should ditch the medical boot and wear a sneaker, so I put it on. That lasted about 3 seconds. I couldn’t even walk. Point proven!! Bad idea! Why he won’t just take my word on things like this is beyond me! Medical boot back on, we walked to the bus stop & were on a bus to the Magic Kingdom in time to make it just after park opening.
To save time, we had decided to have breakfast at the Magic Kingdom, so we stopped at the Main Street Bakery. Jeffrey had a croissant, Ryan had a Danish and Kyle & I had cinnamon buns. Everyone was happy. Kyle & I thought our cinnamon buns were delish! While sitting there we watched the Main Street Trolley make it’s way down Main Street….”Ding, ding, ding, went the trolley…” We also had a visit from a 2 legged feathered friend. We called him Donald, even though we knew from the markings it was probably a Daisy.
After our breakfast, we ventured over to Tomorrowland for the first time with Ryan. We experienced Stitch’s Great Escape, where he bleched his chili dog blech much to the delight of Kyle & Ryan. Why is it that boys enjoy such grossness?? Actually, it doesn’t bother me much. (I'm used to my boys producing smells that rank pretty high on the grossness scale!)

Once we saved Earth from 626, we split up for a bit. Jeffrey & Ryan went to get their rollercoaster fix on Space Mountain. Kyle & I went to save Earth from the Evil Emperor Zurg. We were able to ride twice in the amount of time that it took Jeffrey & Ryan to ride Space Mountain. I beat Kyle both times, much to his dismay. I think it just drives him crazy that this is the only video-type game that Mom can kick butt in. Once we were altogether we rode together, as a group. I did my best to get photos of the scores, but it is so hard once the numbers start flashing. I only managed to get one shot of one of my high scores. I know, I’m a geek. But I won, I won, I won!!

We ran into Stitch, who was up to no good, as usual. We just had to stop and get some photos. I don’t remember if the boys got autographs. I don’t have pictures of them doing so. I know the novelty of getting autographs did wear off as the trip went on, but I don’t recall it being this early on.
After our brief visit with Stitch, we took a trip through time on the Carousel of Progress. There were only a handful of people in there. It amazes me how many people miss out on this attraction. The air conditioning alone is worth the time! Of course, I embarrassed the boys as much as I could by belting out “It’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.”
Ryan & Kyle wanted to ride the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway. They made their way over there, while I found a spot to sit near Astro Orbiter. Jeffrey went over with the boys to grab pictures of them being cool drivers and then came back to sit with me.
While I was sitting, Tomorrowland Countdown came out to perform. They were EXCELLENT!! If you ever get the chance to see them, it is well worth it!!
The boys rejoined us and wanted to ride the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. On the way, we saw this guy.
Now, while we’ve seen him a million times before, we have never looked at it closely. We decided to take a peek & this is what we found. (Sorry about the glare…the sun was beating on it pretty hard)
It was 11:00am, so we started to head towards Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café to beat the lunch crowds. On the way we found PUSH
and this suspicious guy
(I think he’ll look better in the video)
We were the only fools talking to and taking photos with a trash can, but, hey, who cares we’re in WDW!
Joyous that we had a chance encounter with PUSH, we danced our way (okay, they walked….I hobbled) to Cosmic Ray’s. We had chicken tenders all around. (Kyle had some of my fries & a drink) There were very few people in there, so we were able to secure a spot nice & close to Sonny Eclipse.
The only land in the Magic Kingdom that Ryan really hadn’t experienced totally was Fantasyland, so we meandered that way. Winnie the Pooh was showing a fairly short wait; I managed to talk them into going on so I could catch a glimpse of my favorite pal, Eeyore. The line moved pretty quickly until we were the next ones to go, when it promptly broke down. Ten minutes later it was up & running and we were able to bounce away in our honey pot.
It started to rain. Most of the lines were pretty long, so we jumped over puddles to get to It’s a Small World. This was one of the longest lines we have ever encountered here. I guess everyone else had the same idea to get out of the rain. It moved kind of slow, as there seemed to be quite a few guests with disabilities & injuries that required extra time. This was okay with us because the sky had opened & being in line was keeping us dry. The CM at the control booth over the boats was trying to keep everyone entertained as we loaded the boats by getting everyone to wave their arms back & forth in the air. When we got in the boat, I decided we should do THE WAVE instead. Once again, we looked like fools, but the CM enjoyed it.

Once we listened to the children from every nation sing, we thought we should head back to Coronado for a little break before our ADR at the Garden Grill. The sky had cleared a little and we managed to make it out of the park & to the bus stop. Huey, Duey & Louie (I know, they’re probably female) stopped by for a brief visit before the bus – and the downpours – came.
Up Next: Belly laugh fun at the Garden Grill

Dyan - I am so amazed at those of you who can do well on Buzz. I even know some of the "secret" targets, but my aim is so bad I think I've never even hit 100,000.
Looking forward to a good laugh!

Wonderful update! I thought about you yesterday when I took a wrong step into my sunroom and twisted my ankle. I went to the doctor today and to the hospital for x-rays. Needless to say, NOTHING is going to keep me from my trip to DLR! I will hobble along just as you have. Keep it coming!!

Day 7 - Monday, August 7, 2006 – part 2
Now playing: Belly laugh fun at the Garden Grill (I just hope it’s as funny for you as it was for us!)
After a short rest, we were raring to get to Epcot so Ryan could experience one of our favorite character meals – Garden Grill. We always have so much fun at this restaurant and hoped the meal would live up to our raving. We boarded a bus at 3:30 to Epcot, without having to run between raindrops as the sun was bright in the sky.
On the way over, we thought we would stop at Club Cool for Ryan to experience all the flavors of the world. Ryan wanted to know if they had soda from Italy because he was thinking about taking Italian at school. :insert evil laugh: “Oh, yes, I believe they do and it’s REALLY good!” I was all excited that I would be able to witness him experience Beverly for the first time! YUMMO!! So, we get there and they only have 3 flavors!! Darn! No Beverly!! Oh well, we tried the ones available to quench our thirsts. (Jeffrey later found out, that WDW hasn’t been restocking all of the flavors as they are supposed to have a change of flavors soon. Apparently, they are keeping Beverly but having so few flavors they were running out of other flavors as well, however I question his source because I certainly can’t imagine that many people rushing to get seconds on Beverly!)
Off to The Land!! We were early for our ADR, so I checked us in at the Garden Grill, while Jeffrey & Ryan ran downstairs to Soarin’ to get us some Fast Passes. They weren’t even back yet when our buzzer started going off. I radioed for them to hurry up. In less than a minute they were back and we were off to start our rotating dining adventure. We were seated on the lower level, as I had requested when I checked us in, and there was virtually no one in the restaurant.
Our server, Raquel, was right over to get our drink order. While she was off getting our drinks, another server came by with 2 loaves of bread and yummy honey orange butter. Then Raquel returned with our drinks, 2 more loves of bread and yummy orange butter! We weren’t going to be able to eat all that! She was surprised that someone else had brought us some already. As we were pondering over all this bread, Dale came along so she shoved it in the front pocket of his overalls. He took it out to look at it & was about to throw it over the railing into the Living with the Land ride. She grabbed it right back, scolded him for being bad and asked why he couldn’t be more like his brother, Chip. Hmmm….. This put Dale right over the edge…..almost literally, as he now tried to jump over the railing himself in a suicide attempt. Oh boy, it looked like we were going to be in for a lot of fun at this meal!!
We didn’t get a chance to pose for pictures with Dale this time around, as Raquel left with the bread, Dale took off after her. They stopped at the next table, which was empty. Raquel scolded Dale again & then gave him a shove. Dale was full of drama!! He was crying & complaining that Raquel broke his arm. He even managed to turn his bandana into a sling! Of course we were all laughing so hard that I didn’t think to take a picture, but he looked like this only with a more pathetic look on his face.

Before long Raquel brought us our food. I didn’t take a picture, as it was the all-you-care-to-eat meal that they always offer. It was very good. I particularly enjoyed the catfish.
It was about this time that I remembered the Easy Cheese that we’ve been carrying around in the backpack. I had been hoping for the perfect opportunity to break it out and I believed this was going to be the time. Jeffrey reluctantly got it out of the backpack. He knew this could mean trouble and he was afraid that I would get us thrown out of WDW - banned FOREVER! hee hee I think he was glad we took it out later, as we all laughed so hard, but I also don’t think he would ever admit it!
So, Jeffrey hands me the Easy Cheese & I place it near the front of the table. I saw Mickey coming and I thought for sure he’d take a liking to it, but he just kind of looked at it. I thought mice liked cheese?!?!
Next came Chip & he just the Easy Cheese!! Do chipmunks even eat cheese??? He was pretending to squirt it all over the place.
He fed some to Ryan
Then put it in his pocket so he could pose for a picture with the boys
Pluto came along & Chip skipped off. The Easy Cheese was back on the table, but Pluto only played with it a little and looked at it (and us) quizzically! He posed for pictures with the boys
this one of Kyle. Letting his teenage guard down!!
Dale came back & posed for a picture with Ryan.
Of course, after I took the picture I questioned him about his broken arm. He started scrambling for his bandana, but we let him know that we were on to him. Raquel came along & gave him a hard time as well. She, more or less, told him that he was a brat. Hmmm….I wonder why Dale is always the one to catch the heat??
Dale took off out of there quick. (I’m sure he was looking for someone to feel sorry for him! ) Chip came along about 10 minutes later. My camera was out, so he decided that he wanted to take a picture of us. He took out his straws, placed them behind our ears and took this photo.
Then I told him I wanted to take one of him, so he posed like this
Now, his character handler had come along at some point to see what the commotion was all about. We asked her to pose for a photo, as well. Chip put a straw behind her ear, but she was laughing so hard that it fell out while I was taking the picture. (It’s falling past her hand.)
We were all roaring to the point that other CMs kept coming over to see what we were doing. People were peeking over their tables. The CM at the Kidcot station just outside the restaurant looked at us like we were crazy as we rotated by him.
Mickey came back around one last time, but we had put the Easy Cheese away. (I think I remember Jeffrey saying something like, “That’s enough with the Easy Cheese!” He wasn’t mad or anything, but anyone who has met him will tell you that he is quiet & doesn’t like a lot of attention drawn to him. Being married to me doesn’t help him any there, but I have to give him credit for trying to
Mickey left and we were waiting for our check, when Chip slid into the booth next to Kyle.
You could tell he was up to something, as he started flailing his arms everywhere in an attempt to communicate with us. The boys were making all sorts of guesses. I wondered, “Don’t these people understand chipmunk?!?!” and then said, “Do you want the Easy Cheese?” He nearly jumped over the table in glee! Jeffrey handed it over with a roll of the eyes! Now, Raquel was on her way over with our check, when I asked her to pose for a picture with Chip, but he did this
Raquel ran away and he chased after her. We wondered what that was all about. We did know, however, that Chip had every intention of terrorizing her for some unknown reason.
Chip eventually returned the Easy Cheese & Raquel was soon to follow with our check. She explained that she is from Wisconsin and that all of the Garden Grill CMs make fun of her for being a Cheese Head. That totally explained why she wouldn’t take a picture with Chip & the Easy Cheese! And they say Dale’s the trouble maker!
Before Raquel went to take care of the bill via DDP, I asked her if there were any Hidden Mickey’s in the portion of the mural we were near. She explained that there was one, gave us the general vicinity to look and said she would get a pointer while she was gone so she could point it out to us when she got back. We had difficulty, but once she showed it to us and explained that it was the Mortimer ‘rat face’ we could see it clearly. I only wish I had taken a picture. After that, we thanked Raquel for a great time and we were on our way.
Up Next: OMG!! You did not just set off that alarm!?!?!
