As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The Grand Fiesta 10th Anniversary Trip Report - Travel Day Updated 8/31
<font color="blue"> Day 2 – Saturday, August 12th – Where are the clouds? And some new characters!
We got up this morning around 7. Matt, who had a late night, was up at 6 He like to get up early at the AKL, get his coffee, and then go sit in the deserted lobby and read the paper. I was thankful he let us sleep until 7. Breakfast this morning was at the Mara. I couldn’t tell you what we had, because all my receipts are missing for this day They must be somewhere Anyway, I know I had a yogurt and granola cup. And on the subject of that cup, did anyone notice that the size of this thing has decreased by about 3/4s? I mean, yes, it was big to begin with, and much more than a person could (or should) eat in one sitting, but the smaller version just seems so small. And geez, the price is just about the same. Maybe a few cents cheaper. Ugh. I’m sure the kids had a Mickey Waffle and some bacon, and Matt must have had a breakfast sandwich.
After showering and lathering up for another scorcher day, we headed to the bus stop. I don’t think we had to wait too long for a bus before we were on our way to MGM. We were thru the turnstiles by 9:30, and decided to skip the main attractions (ToT and RnRC) for now. Playhouse Disney was starting in 10 minutes, so why not see the first show The kids were less than enthusiastic, but I wasn’t going to let that break my stride First, we had to stop for the obligatory park picture
We just made it into Playhouse Disney, and grabbed our piece of carpet. There was hardly anyone in there, which is why I like the first show I was happy to see that Jamie was back (I think that is his name)! Last time, we had the girl, but I prefer Jamie! You can see, the kids couldn’t have cared less! Party poopers, I tell ya!
Next up, I was putting my foot down again because I refused to be told by two children what we would be doing Voyage of the Little Mermaid was the next show to see. Now, we haven’t seen this since our first trip in 2003, when Alexa was 4, and she got scared of Ursula. She still balked at going in, but I finally convinced her (not sure if money was involved here, or just the promise of air conditioning)! After a bit of a wait (my bad, I thought one was just starting), we were soon sitting in our seats! Boy, either the show has changed, or it was a lot shorter than I remembered. It was still a great time, and something that we haven’t done in quite some time!
We took a few steps down Mickey Avenue, and headed in to see Who Wants to be a Millionaire. It was almost time for the first show, but since it was closing next week, I had wanted to make sure we got it in today! No fight from Alexa on this one, she loves it because she remembers when we used to watch it on TV all the time! Alas, none of us made it into the hot seat, or even on the board this time! I was going to say…….there’s always next time, but alas…there isn’t. Too bad!
It was probably close to 11:30 now, and Colin wanted to see the stunt show. Well, I know I’m not going to get Alexa into that so I know when to push and when not to. The guys headed for the show, and Alexa and I went in search of characters! But first, we had to purchase our autograph book and pen, which we had neglected to do on the first day! Oh, the humanity!
Book and pen in hand, we started on Mickey Avenue. Again, very low crowds, and we pretty much breezed thru everyone June, Mr. Smee, and Kim Possible were all new ones for us Alas, no Ron Stoppable!
Then it was inside to see Sorceror Mickey. He took a quick break as we made it to the front of the line, but boy, is he quick with his breaks
Next up were more new characters. The guys from Pinocchio, whose names I don’t know, and Rafiki! We’ve visited with JoJo and Goliath before
Continued in next post...........

Re: The Grand Fiesta 10th Anniversary Trip Report - Travel Day Updated 8/31
<font color="blue"> ..........continued from previous post
Time to head over to the Streets of America, as it was approaching the POWER RANGERS meet and greet. Now we (meaning Matt and the kids) are a major PR house here, and never miss an episode. Gee, something to be so proud of
Alexa and I walked around for a bit, and got some bottled waters and a pretzel. Dehydration was starting to set in! As we sat down to get back some energy, the music started. And it got louder, and louder. MULCH, SWEAT, and SHEARS. Now again, if you’ve read my reports before, you know that we (okay me) are big BIG fans of these guys. I love them, they are a must see for me at MGM. They set up their “stage”, and Alexa and I parked ourselves on the curb, actually in a bit of shade (at least for the moment).
Maurice was picking on me, mainly because we were the only few watching these guys. I felt so bad. People would pass by here and there, but by no means was there a crowd. That was, at least until the stunt show got out. Then it flooded with people, since they really had to other way to get out of the area. About that time, my cell phone rang. It was Matt, and I couldn’t hear him one bit. I held up the phone, screamed into it “just follow the music” and he ended up finding us Here’s his vantage point (notice there is now much more people)!
The show ended, my ears were ringing, and we needed to decide what to do next. It was only about 5 minutes before the next Power Ranger meet and greet, and since Colin missed the first one, he needed to see them as well. Thankfully due to the light crowds, we were able to get them all in one shot (um, meet)!
It was finally time to eat lunch. The resounding answer to the question of what to eat was “pizza”. Pizza Planet it was. Along the way, we passed the Green Army Man, Buzz, Jessie and Woody, but everyone was pooped, hot, and tired and didn’t want to budge. After filing up on cheese pizza and drinking down some large drinks, we headed for the exit. It was time to head back for some pool time and naps!
Coming up next.........It's HOT and I'm sick

You know I haven't been the The Mermaid Show since 1995 and it sure seemed shorter to me as well.

Great trip report so far. And I have to laugh because until now, I always pictured you as the woman in your signature post...I just thought maybe you were dressed for halloween or something with your kids beside you. It's nice to finally put a face to a name.

I'm laughing, because I thought the exact same thing. Nice to know I wasn't the only one.

Ha ha, I too would have thought it were you in the old siggy pic if we hadn't met Mulan in March Maybe you should have kept up the pretence.
Another great update. I thought Kat was the only child petrified of Ursula!

All caught up Marnie, and loving every minute of it! I know I'm getting to be the parent of an older child though when there are characters I've never even heard of. Who's June?
