Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I AM SO HAPPY!!!
I am so excited and there is no one awake to tell. So I thought I'd share this with my Passporter friends.
I have been calling and calling to get the Illuminations cruise for our Feb trip. Yesterday was a horrible day, son sick, mom sick, I fell off my treadmill again (yes it is ok to laugh here, I did) and hurt my back. And to top it all off I died my washing machine some sick color from my tie-dye projects.
Just yesterday afternoon I was debating the merits of the cruise(the ability of my sensory challenged DS to enjoy Illuminations) vs. the huge phone bill I was destined to have.
Then this morning I got my needed dose of Magic. My CM Carol made my day. She found us a boat for this cruise. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEH! See, I want to scream but the sick ward will kill me if I wake them with Disney news.
Just a word of thanks for all of you(including Jen and Dave) who encouraged me to keep calling back for the things I really want to get. Happy dance, happy dance quietly. My trip is now complete!

Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
Thanks Perky I need it today. Everyone is home sick and I apparently only have 2 hands(LOL).
Everyone wants to know why can't I make coffee(for mom),hot cocoa(for Teddy), breakfast and change the channel all at the same time?
Just keep repeating to self "It's good to be a mom, it's good to be a mom, its good..."

Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
You could always holler across the street and find someone equally crazy about Disney as yourself! YAHOO!!!! I know how much you wanted that cruise. Now maybe we should celebrate with another trip to the Disney store. Another pin or two, maybe? I found an ornament I have to have. Tinkerbell on top of a bulb, with 2002 on it. There's also a cute Eeyore one. Come over this afternoon, and I will make you a cup of tea and we can talk about the World!

Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
I'm glad you were able to get the cruise. I'm sure it will make your adventure even MORE special. Now, just be careful on that treadmill. We wouldn't want you to be in traction for your trip.

Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
Irenaroo I almost did call you but figured with getting 4 ready for school, 1 ready for work, and comforting 1 who didn't want them to leave probably left you with a full plate. I would love to come for tea but both Teddy and Joan are sick. Joan is not breathing all that well today. She almost sounds pre-pnuemonia. Still coming from that kid in Ted's class whose Mom wont take her son to the doctor. Ill do it for her if she is pressed for time(LOL)
Deb, The funniest thing is I have only had the treadmill for a week and I have fallen off 5 times. The first 4 were off the side so they were just funny. The one yesterday was smack flat on my face on the treadmill belt which then carried me to the end and jammed me into a chair before my emergency rope disconnected the whole thing. I have since shortened the disconnect rope. Thank god I tend to think these kind of things are funny!
My Mom has called me Grace all my life. I practically fall for a living. I wonder if Steve could tell me what carrer this might help me in? I think that show The Fall Guy was cancelled in 1981 or something so that's out.
Michele
P.S. Irenaroo--isn't any reason a good reason to go to the Disney Store? The sun came up didn't it. That's a good enough reason for me

Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
Definitely Steve, I went to see Cher in Boston on Sunday night and fell in a construction hole. Nothing to serious as a matter of fact only 1 person in my party of 9 noticed. I never even lost them in the crowd. I'm a pro at getting back on my feet in about a nanosecond. It is a huge joke among my friends that the night/vacation, whatever hasn't really gotten under way until I've fallen. Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
It's wonderful to see someone able to laugh at themselves. It's such a gift!
Congratulations on the cruise, too! - See persistance pays off doesn't it ?

Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
Elaine,
No one laughs harder at themselves than me.
So true about persistence. Before coming here to these boards if one CM said no I would have thought oh well not our luck this time. Instead I get the one wish that was on my list. Pays to have a short list

Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
ROTFL! What a hoot! I think you should change your mantra from "it's good to be a mom" to "I've got the CRUISE!" Your efforts have paid off! CONGRATULATIONS!
We cruised for the first time a month ago ( ) and, OH MY GOSH! It was amazing! You will love it and it will be the cherry on top of a great big huge sundae of being at the World! Enjoy!

Re: I AM SO HAPPY!!!
Michele - congratulations! I tried to get one for our trip last week and didn't get one so I know how exciting it must be to actually get one instead of 'sorry there are no more left'. Can't wait to hear all about it!
Glad that your okay after your falling incident! BTW.. how was Cher??? I would have loved to seen her but we weren't home
