As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Wow...what detail on DQ! DH and I have never done it and we might have to rearrange some time to go and try it out in October. It sounds like there are things we both would enjoy.
Another great update Angie!!

We enjoyed DQ when we went last year. Buzz Lightyear and POTC were are absolute favorites. We played POTC over and over and over and over. It was GREAT! I loved all the old arcade games that I grew up with, too.
Enjoying your TR.

Re: Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 7/3 Day 3, part 2!
Day 3, Part 2-What do you mean there isn’t one? And the party pooper!
As soon as we walked out of DQ, I started looking for the walkway to SSR. I couldn’t remember if I’d read if it was on the West side, by PI or the Marketplace. I stopped to ask a CM at one of the merchandise carts and his reply was “There isn’t a walkway to SSR.” HUH? He told us the only way to SSR was to take the ferry over. I knew this wasn’t the case, but we had no other choice than to walk over to the Marketplace to take a boat over.
When we got to the dock, I asked the and he said that there indeed is a walkway and to get to it you have to go out towards the bus stops and make a left. He then said that the next DVC boat was leaving in just a few minutes and why not hop on it as SSR was the first stop. So that’s what we did.
The Ferry dock is located behind the Carriage House and was quite a schlep to their room, which I believe was located in The Paddock. When we finally arrived, the girls quickly started taking showers, while Joey & I were offered refreshments by Heidi. I took some pictures of their studio and the view from their patio.
ARTWORK
Troy wasn’t to keen on joining us at PI that evening but drove us there. The ladies got their tickets and we were lined up to see the 10:15 Comedy Warehouse Show.
While in line, we reminisced about meeting 2 years ago in the same spot. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the awesome performances from the outdoor stage, as that area was all boarded up.
The comedy show was good and I remember taking this shot of a Typhoon Lagoon CM named Ovideo, who was unlucky enough to get THE phone call! You know the cast didn’t let him get away with such an unusual name!
He's a hottie though!
I wanted to order a drink and the name of one just called out to me! The Crazy Red Head!!! I didn’t take a picture of it though.
After the show, we all walked straight into 8Trax, or so I thought… It seems that the stamp the CWH put on Joey was so light that the security guard at 8Trax wasn’t letting him in. I pointed out the edges of it to her and went up to get a better stamp put on him. Joey did NOT like this and he is pretty shy.
He also didn’t join us on the dance floor.
I danced to a few songs with the girls, but really couldn’t completely enjoy myself with Joey not participating. When Summer Lovin’ from Grease came on, I thought for sure Joey would join us , since for the past few weeks he’s been hooked on the movie and music(don’t ask me why ), so I sent Dusty to get him, but she returned without him. He was sitting down watching the videos of the songs instead.
The girls met 2 brothers, or so they claimed, from Canada and I had to mention that I had friends from Winnipeg!
They suggested we head over to Motion and the girls were more than happy to. Heidi and I were just there for the ride. I got Joey and when we walked outside to meet up with everyone else. Joey realized we’d been joined by 2 guys and he was not pleased. I think that seeing the girls and maybe even his mom with other men, coupled with the fact that he is not into dancing just got to him. He had a major meltdown. Actually he didn’t say anything; he just sat by the dock behind the club and told me to keep going. Of course I wasn’t about to do this, so I told the rest of the group to go on ahead and we’d meet them there.
Joey is not one to express himself in words, but when I saw my son cry in frustration I knew something was bothering him. He just wouldn’t tell me what it was. I asked if he just wanted to go back to the room or if he wanted to go to another CWH show, but he just said forget it and started walking again.
We got as far as the entrance into Motion and they stopped Joey. Seems that the rules have changed since 2004 and no one under 18 is allowed in even with a parent. Luckily the rest of our group had gotten sidetracked and were now heading towards us. I told Heidi that the kids weren’t going to be let in. At this point, we told the Canadians to go on in without us and we made our way to the Rock n’ Roll Beach Club instead. This club, along with 8Trax are the only 2 clubs that minors can go into now.
The rest of the night was literally going back and forth between clubs. I was getting frustrated, because I could no longer enjoy myself knowing that Joey wasn’t in a good mood, but he wouldn’t agree to leave either. From about 1:15am, I just sat next to Joey, counting down the minutes until 2am when the clubs would close and we would HAVE to leave.
The girls did keep on enjoying the music and dancing up a storm. Finally they decided to call it a night at 1:50 and we all walked to the bus stop together.
I reminded them of the plan to hit Epcot at opening the next day, in order to get the most out of our half day there. We said our goodnights and parted ways. Our bus was already waiting and no one else got on, so we had our own private bus ride back to POFQ. Joey was still in a grumpy mood, so I told him to go ahead to the room, because I was going to take some night shots of the resort.
DESERTED
SCAT CAT'S
It was eerily quiet at this time of night! I got back to the room and set the wake-up call for 7am. UGHH…
