As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I'm SO impressed that you held your end of the 2-swim bargain. I probably would have just banked on someone forgetting. Of course with some kids (like my nephew), when it comes to swimming...there IS no forgetting. Our server (and I cannot remember his name) immediately impressed me by pronouncing our last name correctly. No one ever does.

I woulda!!!! I SWEAR! And I think I deserve points for knowing what it means. Also, it's very close to Woody Allen's real name.
Sounds like an awesome day, glad you got the splorin' and margaritin' in. Looking forward to more!!

Woohoo! I've been waiting for this post!
So glad you and Mary Devall had a great time at Artist Point! One of my favs, as you well know!
I, too, love the mushroom soup. I can't remember if I have had the beef tenderloin, but I have had the buffalo sirloin and it is lean and fabulous, too. And, of coure, The Cobbler! Yummy!
[Jill, of course I forgive you for not remembering the wines! The important point is that you enjoyed them!]
I am really enjoying the TR and the pictures.

Re: Girl Power - - Take Two Day 4 Part 1 Updated 7/5
Day 4 Part 1
Having a relaxing day the day before must have really helped us because we were up early the next morning and ready to go in no time. A bus for AK arrived probably within a minute of us walking up to the bus stop , so we were there shortly after the park opened (which is very unusual for us). Knowing that Mary Devall might sleep in a little later, I had made all of our breakfast ADR’s for later. I thought that our ADR this morning was for 10 a.m. but I suggested walking over to Donald’s just in case they could take us early. As I explained to the CM on the porch that we were early, I pulled out my list of ADR times and confirmation numbers and saw just how early we were – I had made the ADR for 10:30! We were almost an hour early! She was so sweet though and told us that she would check to see if we could be seated early. She came back immediately, gave us our card and told us that we could take a picture. We did (once again, just to do something) and we were immediately seated after that.
This is one of my new favorite breakfast spots. The food is so good! I especially love the crumb cakes on the cold food bar. Mary Devall and I filled our plates and then settled down to fill our tummies while waiting on the characters. While we were eating, a CM brought around the picture package with the picture that we had just taken outside. He showed us that it included a key ring. After he left, Mary Devall wanted to see the key ring. She liked the picture of us, but she was just thrilled that a picture of Donald was on the other side. She hugged that key ring to her body like she had just found her best friend.
When the CM (an older gentleman) came back and asked if we were interested in buying the picture package, I pointed to Mary Devall hugging the key ring and said “I think I’m going to have to.”
CM: “She can just have the key ring.”
Me:“I can just buy the key ring?”
CM: “Mom, you’re not listening. She can just HAVE the key ring.”
I thanked him profusely and handed him back the picture package without the key ring. You can imagine my surprise - - something free at Disney?!? So Mary Devall had her beloved key ring and I drank another cup of to celebrate.
By the time we finished our meal and cleaned all of the syrup off our hands, the characters started coming around. Just to add to our already magical morning, the CM that accompanied the characters was absolutely wonderful to us. Theresa (I’ll never forget her name) all but broke her neck trying to get over to us each time a character visited our table. She was bound and determined that I got to be in each picture also. Now I love just seeing pictures of Mary Devall with the characters and don’t feel a need to be in any of them, but Theresa was so enthusiastic that I just handed over my camera each time and said “cheese!”.
After all of the characters had come and gone, we settled our bill (thanks DDP!) and said goodbye. While in Dinoland, we took the inevitable ride on Triceratop Spin and spent some time in The Boneyard where I was forced to climb up the rope ladder not once but twice.
On the way out of Dinoland, we had to make the inevitable stop to see the Pooh gang.
After we had done all there was to do in Dinoland, we moved on to Africa where we first picked up Fastpasses for the safari and then took the train to Rafiki’s planet watch. We had only spent a little bit of time here before, but I really wanted to take our time on this trip. Mary Devall had a blast brushing those goats. I think she touched and talked to almost every one. I had to laugh at one point because one poor guy sounded like he was hacking up a lung. One couple slowly moved their child away thinking that he had some awful disease I’m sure, but I asked the nearby CM what was wrong with him. Allergies! Should have known it! Poor guy!
A show was starting just outside the goat pen, so Mary Devall went over to check it out. They brought out an enormous python, but the show went on and on and on. Mary Devall and I finally snuck away and went back to the goat pen. Before we left, we headed inside the building where we had never been. She was thrilled to find these guys hiding inside.
Mary Devall really surprised me with her interest in all of the displays in this building. I think I’m raising a little environmentalist.
Time was closing in for our safari Fastpasses, so we hopped the next train back to Africa. There was a long line just to get to the Fastpass entrance, but the line emptied out quickly when the CM’s checked out a lot of people’s passes and told them that they were too early. Within about ten minutes, we were on our truck heading out to save Little Red. One of the oddest things that I witnessed our entire trip was the behavior of the couple who sat beside us in the truck. They were scruffy looking pair who literally looked as if they had rolled out of bed and hit the park. The man was sitting beside me and countless times during the ride he leaned right over me to take a picture (and he was pretty sweaty so I was just praying that a drop of sweat wouldn’t fall on me ). At one point, I heard the woman yell “Slow down.” I thought that I must have heard wrong until I heard her later yell “Would you slow down so that we can take a picture?” Oh my gosh! I think she thought that she was on a real safari! Thankfully, the driver and everyone else ignored her and we just went along on our merry way, but I did slide closer to Mary Devall in case anyone thought we were together.
Once we had saved Little Red, we headed towards the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail in hopes of spotting some gorillas. I was afraid that we wouldn’t spot any because of the hot weather, but we finally saw one! The best thing that came from our trip down Pangani Trail was Mary Devall’s introduction to the Discovery Club at AK. A CM stopped us and asked Mary Devall if she would like to play a game. She teamed up with children from another family and they went around with the CM looking for clues and trying to discover what type of animal poop they had found. Kind of gross, but the children loved it. A little like The Da Vinci Code for the smaller set. The best part was that she received a little book with a stamp on it. The CM explained how to find the other stations in AK and receive other stamps. That became Mary Devall’s focus the rest of our day.
When we exited the trail, we immediately found an ice cream kiosk for Mary Devall. She had been asking for an ice cream cookie sandwich for a while. Once we had her ice cream, we went to The Tusker House for me. I had never eaten here before, so this was a must for me since I had heard so many good things about it on this board. I really wanted the turkey wrap with corn chowder, but hoping that Mary Devall would eat some of my food I went for the fried chicken sandwich instead. It was delicious, but she only wanted her ice cream cookie sandwich so I could have ordered anything that I wanted really (Of course, you’re asking yourself “did you really expect your child to eat lunch when you had just purchased her ice cream?”. I asked myself that same question too. )
Next up . . . how much can you learn in one day?
