As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Passporter Suggestions Needed...
Hi Everyone!
I just bought a copy of the 2005 Passporter which I think I am going to love, but I am going exchange it for the 2006 version in November. My vacation is 12 days long (Dec - Jan). I really like the idea of having a binder, so would I benefit more from getting a Passporter Binder to put the 2006 version in or would the older version in the binder be sufficient? How extensive are the updates that can be added to the older version? Would I need to purchase extra pockets for the binder? Is it fairly easy to make the switch from sprial bound to a binder? I've read the other posts but I didn't really get the answers for my issues. SO HELP...what should I do?? Thanks!
Tricia

Re: Passporter Suggestions Needed...
Welcome to the boards, Tricia!!!
The first one I bought was a spiral bound one and, while I really liked it, I found that it would benefit me more to buy the Deluxe. This will be my third trip this year with my Deluxe!!! It's SO much more convenient . . . I have just purchased new PassPockets for each trip and printed off any updates to the book . . .
The 2006's are on pre-order right now . . . if you really like the idea of a binder, and you're planning on making more trips in the near future, I would invest in the Deluxe PassPorter (buy the Deluxe Starter Kit). The Starter Kit comes with the complete 2006 PassPorter (looseleaf) and the "leather-look" 6-ring binder (no, it is NOT real leather) . . . there are pockets in the binder for cards, tickets, etc . . . and there is a place to put a pen in there as well! All you would have to do in 1007 is buy the "Refill Kit" and you are good to go! If you happen to need extra PassPockets, you can get those separately as well!!!
The spiral version can not be put into the binder . . . so if you are going from spiral to deluxe, stick with the 2005 you have now and order the Deluxe for 2006. If there are things that need updated, they will let everyone know and provide a PDF file that can be downloaded and printed with marks where you can hole punch it and add it to your binder.
Hope this helps!!! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!!! Someone around here will definitely get yout the answers you need!!!

Okay...so let me get this straight...if I order the Binder Version it will come with the 2006 Edition? Should I also get extra pockets for a 12 day vacation? If I stick with the spiral version how would extra pockets be added to that??

Re: Passporter Suggestions Needed...
Both the spiral and the deluxe edition come with 10 day pockets and an additional blank page that can be labeled with the next consecutive "day label" on the label sheet included in each edition. If you use a spiral edition you really cannot easily attach anymore pages. If you get the deluxe edition, it is a "ring hole" book and extra pocket pages can be purchased to add on.....also, any updates and be printed and using a hole punch can be just put right where the corrected or updated page would go. The additional pockets can be purchased and used in either edition but with the deluxe edition you just open the rings and insert......I have used both editions and pre-ordered the 2006 refill for the deluxe edition. Once I bought the deluxe Passporter I wouldn't think of going back to the spiral edition. I hope this helps alittle. rella

Re: Passporter Suggestions Needed...
Tricia,
Sounds like you should enjoy your 05' spiral edition but would benefit from the 06' deluxe. You can easily add/subtract from the deluxe. The pages go in and come out with in problem. For several years the spiral edition was the only thing available. So that was what I ordered but once the deluxe was offered?! Well now wasn't that a luxury! I love my deluxe edition! Every year after you will only need to order the refill kit. It works out great.
At the PassPorter Store you can purchase a 5-PassPocket set for $2.50 or a 14-PassPocket set for $5.99.
Every year the PP goes through some updating and changes. One year the changes were fold out maps, another year they added color. There is ALWYAS something new.
Alot of us PP addicts like to order a new edition every year. We're just kooky that way. Even if I don't plan a trip for a particular year, I still want my PP!
If Disney changes or updates anything at their parks or resorts PP has update pages that you can print out and add to your book.
So, good luck on your decision and enjoy your guide book!

Yes, when you order the 2006 deluxe, it comes WITH the 2006 Passporter! It comes with 10 days worth of PassPockets plus you can order a set of 5 blank pockets where you can use your stickers from inside your PassPorters to label them for the extra days! (The 5-pocket set is $2.50 in the PassPorter store!)
If you stick with the spiral, you will not be able to add extra pockets to it.
Your best bet is to enjoy the 2005 spiral now then in November, upgrade to the 2006 deluxe! You won't regret it!!!
