As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I have been charged with the job of making packing lists for each person in our party for our upcoming July trip. I have read the various threads in the packing section posted here and consulted my trusty pp but I am still a little unsure.
Will we need long pants or sweatshirts for this time of year? I remember it rains every day but I cant recall if the temperatures drop during a storm or in the late evenings. In Connecticut you never know what the temp is going to be but Im not really sure about the southern climate. Not having to pack heavy garments would sure free up a lot of our packing space. Any advice?
We have gone in July for the last 7 years and have never needed sweatshirts. If you get cold in air conditioning then you might want to bring one or a sweater. We are from Ohio so it always seems very hot to us!
Im going to WDW from connecticut..
But im not bringing any sweat shirts or long pants..
I remember last july when we went. HOt HOT HOT and when the storms came in the afternoon, it brought the temps to NICE!
This is my first WDW trip but my wife's 2nd and she says it's hot and humid regardless of the rain. I'm bringing shorts, t-shirts, tank-tops and tevas (oh yeah, and my bathing suit!)
It will be very hot and humid. Even with that, I always bring a sweatshirt jacket, because I get chilled in the air conditioning sometimes. I usually only use it in the hotel room, because DH freezes me out! It is also handy for me if it is raining.
You quite likely might need a sweatshirt or light jacket. We've been many times in July and never needed anything warm until a couple of years ago. We hit a particularly rainy July and DD and I froze in every building we were in. While outside we tied our jackets around our waists. Now, I never go to WDW without my MICKEY jacket.

It's so sweltering hot in WDW at that time of year that it actually makes packing a lot easier. All you need are shorts and t-shirts, bathing suits, and rain gear. If you're prone to feeling a little chilled in air-conditioned restaurants, then bring a long a sweater but when we were there in August for two weeks, not once did I need to wear a sweater or long pants.
I packed a sweater for DD just in case (we leave next week), but I don't have anything long-sleeved packed for the rest of us. I'm not a shorts person, I always wear capri pants and I never have a problem (or meltdown).
The rain can cool it off sometimes; in July 2001 the day we went to EPCOT was cold and rainy so it's not always sweltering.
I always take a pair of sweatpants for the drive down and back, and for lounging in the room because my husband likes it so much colder than I do.
But for wearing out at the parks, I always do shorts and T-shirts.
Unless there's a cold front involved, rain in the south typically just makes things more humid and sticky, unless it's later in the evening and the sun has gone down. But if it is just your typical summer afternoon thunderstorm, it will get hot again fast. Walking across pavement with steam rising from rain puddles is not much fun!
Now the air conditioning in the shops and restaurants might seem like ice, especially later in the day, so you might consider a lightweight windbreaker for your backpack just in case, if you've got room to keep up with it all day.
Hey, Donna! We're going down for a month in July, and I'm packing a whole assortment of things I'm bringing 6 pairs of shorts, a bunch of short sleeved shirts and sandals. However, I'm also bringing 1 pair of pants and a sweatshirt I REALLY doubt I'll need the pants, but I get cold pretty quick and I know I'll want my jacket to cover my legs while we're freezing in the car, and to bring to restaurants if the air conditioner is cranked up I would maybe bring a pair of pants and a light jacket for just in case!
My DD and I are also going in July. We are both rather cold natured, so I'm packing one pair of jeans each and a lightweight jacket. Even though it's really hot and humid outside, we get chilly inside the restaurants. Shorts only during the day, though. We're as used to the weather in the midwest as you can get, and I expect it will be more of the same there.
I would say not to even bother. Maybe bring a light jacket to wear in restraunts in case it is cold inside but you DEFINITELY won't need it for time outside at the parks. Florida is nice and steamy this time of year!
I'm in Miami....trust me, it will be <font color="red">HOT </font> and <font color="red">HUMID</font>, day and night. Shorts and t-shirt weather for sure. HOWEVER....interior locations (i.e, restaurants, WDW busses, shops, hotels rooms etc.) are <font color="blue">notoriously cold </font> due to AC being pumped out at a ferocious rate. If you are apt to be cold in these situations you may want a light jacket or sweatshirt (which you won't need the second you go back outside!).
One more thing...sunscreen is an absolute must for everyone, especially children. You will <font color="red">burn up </font> faster than you can imagine and no one wants to start a vacation with a <font color="red"> lobster-red sunburn </font> . I live here and even though i have a tan, I still hit the SPF 45 before i hit the parks. Remember...you will be in the sun ALL DAY. The back of your neck, nose and ears will be bright <font color="red"> cherry red </font> .
Also...it is likely it will <font color="blue">rain</font>. Strongly suggest you bring more than one pair of shoes per person.
