As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: My Atlanta Baseball Weekend!!! (a teeny-weeny TR!) -- DAY 1 added 5/5!!!
As you can see, I changed the title of the report . . . I figured I just couldn't call it my Hot-lanta Baseball Weekend when there was NOTHING hot about it!!! More on the weather as we go along with our story!!!
April 29, 2005 --- Atlanta, here we come!!!
Why is it that you always sleep in on the mornings you REALLY need to get up and get stuff done?! Really, I wish I knew, because that is what happened the morning we were heading to Atlanta!!!
DH got up at 5:30am and headed to the base for PT then on to work after that . . . Emilie and I got up and around at about 9am, despite the fact that I had my alarm set for 7:30!!! I finished packing for Emilie and I then realized that Mike had not packed a SINGLE THING yet!!! I was a bit angry, but I didn’t bother to put anything in the suitcase for him . . . I wouldn’t have packed the right thing anyways!!! As it was, he only packed things that said St. Louis Cardinals on them . . . I would have only put his one jersey in and left the rest!!!
Whilst packing, as I was grabbing some things out of our downstairs bathroom, I happened to look in to the little trash can we have in there for some odd reason. I caught sight of what looked like some blonde hair and thought I was just imagining things. Oh, but when I flipped on the light . . . I saw that it was hair!!! And I am not talking about a small little strand of little blonde hair . . . we're talking a CHUNK . . . and about 3-4 inches in length!!! I yelled at Emilie to come to me . . . and she kind of slinked around the corner and said "I didn't do nuthin', mom." I couldn't believe my eyes . . . and WHY was this happening this morning?! When I asked her when and how she did this, she says "I did it last night when I went to go potty because I got big tangles and it would hurt bad to brush it". So she found some scissors with my scrapbook stuff and cut a chunk off each side!!! I don't have ANY idea how her dad didn't see her with scissors, since I was upstairs! Believe it or not, she did about the same chop on each side, so it was pretty even . . . but it wasn't so bad that we needed to take her to Fantastic Sam's for a touch up job (which I was ready to do ) It isn't anything that a couple of barrettes won't help . . . and thankfully it grows fast enough that MAYBE we can get it all in a ponytail in the next couple of weeks! NOT a great way to start off the day, I tell you!!!
There was a Change of Command ceremony at Mike’s command, and he was not required to attend, so he was let go for the weekend early. He got home at about 11am and packed his stuff while I took a quick shower then packed up the cat and his stuff. At about noon, we left the house and headed to Bill’s house, stopping by the post office along the way to mail Lori (lauren-roxy) a package and then we had to hit the ATM and Mickey D’s! Mickey (the cat) was going to be spending the weekend with his best dog-friend Cody (Bill’s 95 pound golden Lab ) and Bill’s roomie, Bobby, was going to keep an eye on them!
We got to Bill’s, ate our lunch and were loading up his car with our stuff by 12:45. We had decided to take his car, since he has an Explorer Sport Trac and it is bigger than our Escape. We unloaded the cat and his stuff on Bobby, parked our car in Bill’s garage and were on our way at about 1pm. Well . . . at least we THOUGHT we were on our way!!! As we pulled out of Bill’s driveway, I realized that we hadn’t grabbed the cooler and there was NO WAY we’d be able to travel without at least the juice pouches for Emilie!!! So, luckily, our house was along our route towards the interstate, and we stopped in and grabbed the cooler . . . which was sitting, OPEN, right in front of the fridge!!! Talk about a "DUH!" moment!!! :headsmack OK . . . we got the cooler in the truck and we were REALLY on our way. We made our way north through all the little towns north of Pensacola on Route 29 . . . got on AL-113 . . . then hit I-65 at about 2:30pm central time.
Along the way, Emilie seemed to need to stop at EVERY rest area as usual We stopped for gas and dinner in Newnan, GA, which is about 40 minutes southwest of Atlanta. Traffic on I-285 around Atlanta was pretty non-existent (well, it WAS a bit after 7:30pm . . . ) and we arrived at Mike’s aunt and uncle’s house in Marietta right around 8:15pm Eastern Time.
We visited with Ed and Sue for about an hour then they were headed off to bed (they take their dog out to run 6 miles every morning at 3:30am ) Once they’d gone to bed, we got ourselves all settled into the house and gave Bill “the tour”. Emilie had a real hard time getting to sleep and the guys were watching the Cardinals/Braves game on the TV (the first of the 3 game series . . . we’d be at the other 2 ) so it ended up being a late night. I remember looking at the clock for the last time right at about midnight as I was drifting off into la-la-land . . .
NEXT UP: Shopping, prizes and wet baseballs! (Oh yeah . . . and PICTURES . . . )

Re: My Atlanta Baseball Weekend!!! (a teeny-weeny TR!) -- DAY 1 added 5/5!!!
I am so excited that I am in a trip report!!!!! Thanks again for the cute autograph books! Two years ago my oldest daughter, who was almost 4, cut a whole pigtail of my other daughter who was 2 a the time! It was 1 day before we left to go to Disney! It required a visit to the salon!! Sarah, why do MIke's aunt and uncle take their dog out at 3am to run it 6 miles? I was just curious, so I had to ask!! Can't wait to read more!!!

Actually, THEY go out to run 6 miles or so every morning and just take the dog with them!!! When it rains, the poor thing doesn't want to go outside (who can blame him!), so he really doesn't get much exercise . . . while his owners go to the gym! They have suggested to the vet/kennel where they take him that they buy up the deserted grocery store building next to the vet's office and turn it into a pet gym for pets that are apartment dwellers and for exercise on rainy days for them!!! Interesting idea . . . not bad, but interesting!!!

Re: My Atlanta Baseball Weekend!!! (a teeny-weeny TR!) -- DAY 1 added 5/5!!!
What a way to start your travel day! I guess maybe cutting your own hair IS a 4 year old thing. Just a few weeks ago, my 4 year old tried to convince me that the PILES of curly blonde hair on the floor didn't come from her head! She's the only one in this house with curly blonde locks! She took out a nice hunk of the back of her (not too abundanant) hair.
Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your trip!
