As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, River Country, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizard Beach, Pleasure Island,Disney's Wide World of Sports, Fantasia Gardens miniature golf, Winter Summerland miniature golf, the "big" golf courses, DisneyQuest, the Walt Disney World Speedway....
Yes, I know, this is a whole lot like choosing one piece of chocolate from the display case at Godiva, but I'm going to ask anyway....
What is your favorite Walt Disney World park, and why?
Don't worry, you won't be graded on your answer. ;-)

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
My favorite Disney park is Epcot -- without a doubt! I enjoy its futuristic, wonder-filled theme in Future World, and I particularly love the detail in World Showcase. Even though I would guess I've been to World Showcase over 50 times now, I still notice new things each time I visit. And with the new Illuminations 2000: Reflections of Earth, it's even better.
Here are a few of my favorite things in World Showcase:
- Walking in Japan's gardens
- Watching Impressions de France
- Having a glass of wine as I stroll around the lagoon
- Getting a lagoon-side seat at Rose & Crown for IllumiNations
- Strolling the promenade in the evening
- Walking under the overhand on the Stave church in Norway
- Introducing someone to the World Showcase for the first time
What a place!

Magic Kingdom, to me it's where WDW begins. As you enter the park and make you way around the circle, you're just ready to burst w/ excitement. When you see Cinderella's castle from Main St., USA... BOOM, you've made it, this is why you came and if you have small children (esp a girl) it's even better

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
For me my favorite part is EPCOT. I am a people person so I enjoy watching people just walking around. AND this has got to be the best place just to watch .... kids playing in the water, older (and younger) couples sitting by the water at the little alcove near the Rose and Stagg, ..... Watching the various shows and getting to the point where the actors actually know you ?! Sitting on the curb near the UK and watching the ToN parade at night.... PIN Trading with little kids... they love it. But the furturistic feeling of the park is just so very special !!!!

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
MK is my favorite park. The original is still the best. I think it represents the best of what WDW has to offer. It's theming is the best, from the atmosphere music to the trash cans it all fits together almost seemlessly.
I like all of the other parks, but I try to make MK my first park to visit and my last of each trip.

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
I like them all!!!
EPCOT has to be on the top of my list! When our kids were in school they were able to get prize winning ideas for their science projects from Future World. I love just walking through the park and looking at the different building structures & landscaping! In the World Show Case I enjoy speaking to the cast members from the different countries....

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
With the exception of my 13 year old daughter who likes the water parks best, my entire family loves the MAgic Kingdom best. I think that is because all of the things which really touch your heart are there. There is nothing like seeing the castle all lit up at night and hearing "When you wish upon a star"....

I love MK most. It seems to erase all the stress and complelely block out the "real world". You can escape...become a child again...even if you have your kids with you! You can fly on an elephant (even without going on with a child) and nobody thinks it to be odd. You can walk down the streets singing along with the music and notice that you are not the only one doing it! It is a place where childhood dreams can live on forever!

All the parks have their own special appeal and allure, but for me it's the Animal Kingdom. All the shows are great and the chance to see the creatures in seemingly natural settings is great. Can't wait to stay in The Lodge in 2001.

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
I have to say I love Magic Kingdom!! It is the original and is still the best. I feel it is the most magical of all the parks. I also feel, that since I have been going there since 1979, it is the most nostalgic of the parks. Bringing back memories from when I was little, wide-eyed, child staring in awe at Cinderella's Castle.

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
My favorite park is MK! You can just be a kid there. It has everything for all ages to do and see and it's just so much fun.
My next choice would be Epcot. I love the differant countries and all the neat things about history there (like the Epcot Ball ride).

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
My favorite park without question is the Magic Kingdom. We were living in Florida when it opened and made our first trek there the second week. Our children were little and I remember the look that came across their faces the first time they saw the castle. Whoops got a lump in my throat here! Nothing else was there but the Magic Kingdom. Over the years we made regular trips and Ft Wilderness became our Disney home. We never worried about them and I'm still amazed that we would spend 5-6 days there with only the Magic Kingdom and the Campground to play in, and felt we had a full vacation. Jean

The Magic Kingdom by far. It has the most Disney magic and the most heart. I enjoy just sitting on a bench there and soaking up the atmosphere.

Re: What\'s your favorite Walt Disney World park?
Definitely the Magic Kingdom - it's where everything started and I'll never forget my first trip to WDW when the only park was the MK. The tram from the parking lot, the ride on the monorail, stepping onto Main Street, seeing the castle..there was no doubt in my mind that we were in a different, magical world where anything could happen! I have to disagree with Ariel's Dad though. I have three boys (including my husband!) and they all transform magically the minute they hit the MK. It's one of the reasons I love them all so much! ºoº
