10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 85 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The lobby photos...is that the space that used to have the fabric drape ceiling? If so, very good change. I find fabric drape, especially that silk-satin stuff, tends to look dusty and worn.
You really made a full day of it, what with heading back down for a night-cap. Nicely played!
I guess that's how the lobby looked as it's been a while until this trip that I was in the Dolphin. The lobby and bar really look stunning now! It was a full day and a great way to wind it down!

What a nice way to end your day, especially with a Cubs win over the Nats...yes I live in Nats territory, but my heart bleeds Cubbie Blue!
I enjoyed watching the game and seeing the Cubs defeat the Nats! Is it tough being a Cubs fan in the Virginia/D.C. area you reside in?

Thanks Tara. Well, someone who is a Cognac connoisseur and/or has a lot of disposable income!

Not really. People are pretty cool because you have so many 'transient' people, military or political wonks that follow their Senator or Representative, or that come in with a new administration...every two and especially every four years, the population mix kind of changes. I've worn my Cubs hat and jersey to the games. I ride the metro to get there. There will be just as many Cubs fans as Nats....at least it was with the last administration with so many from Chicago area. It may be that the Nats are still a relatively new team and their fanbase hasn't reached that level yet.
Now, if you are a Dallas Cowboy fan...your safety is NOT guaranteed Redskin fans are definitely NOT forgiving. But even then you just might get the stink eye, no real violence or trouble.
That's quite interesting about the D.C. area as I never thought of that. Makes sense.

Friday, October 13th (Part I) I slept in a bit as I was still suffering from a cold, but was feeling a bit better each day. I was up around 9 am. It looks like a nice day out today and just hope it’s not quite as hot and humid as it has been.
Once I was ready, I went downstairs to Fuel to grab a bit of breakfast. I just had a croissant and coffee and enough to get me going for the day. I returned to my room and watched some TV for a little while and got everything ready before going downstairs. I left my room at around 10:45 am.
I arrived outside at the bus depot and I only had to wait about five minutes for an Animal Kingdom bus. Not too bad and much better than my arrival day for a MK bus. We headed straight to the AK as the bus had previously stopped at the Swan resort. It was an uneventful ride and the traffic wasn’t too bad. We arrived in about twenty minutes.
The lines were quite long at the Magic Band kiosks but moved rather well and I was through in just a couple of minutes. I entered the park and took the right-side path to Discovery Island. I was about to have a surprise beginning to my Animal Kingdom day. Quite shockingly, it was something I had never experienced in my many trips to the AK!
De Vine! Quite a surprise when I encountered her!
It was quite something to see her in action and she was very animated. I enjoyed this and I stayed for a few minutes before going to my first attraction for the day.
Enjoying the hot Florida sun!
I continued walking towards my first destination of Asia, but I also got several photos along the way.
Enjoying a snack!
I arrived at Expedition Everest not for my first FP+ of the day but I would use the single rider line instead. The line was quite long and I think I waited about twenty minutes. A lot longer than usual as quite often there are just a few people in line.
It was a great ride as always and after this I headed towards Dinoland for my first two FP+s of the day. Originally, I had the Finding Nemo show as my first FP+ of the day, but I scheduled it too early and missed it. I will see this on my next trip. I cancelled it and rescheduled another one instead.
This area is very much like your standard carnival or state fair in many ways. I’m not sure it fits in well with Disney and the Animal Kingdom too. It could use a major overhaul or perhaps into something else. I don’t visit this part of the park often.
See what I mean by not fitting in with Disney and rest of the Animal Kingdom?
My first FP+ was my rescheduled one and not usually one I’d make one for.
It is a fun ride, but not my favorite in the Animal Kingdom. I had about twenty minutes left in my FP+ window as it would make it easier on less waiting for my next one to open, which is close by.
The FP+ did save me some time as there was a good size line for this attraction. It was probably about a fifteen minute wait. It was enjoyable as there was a lot of spinning as well as some ascending and descending during the ride. It had some fast portions too, but nothing too extreme.
After this I walked close by to another attraction and one I had never experienced with TriceraTop Spin. It’s basically the equivalent of Dumbo in the Magic Kingdom. It was a walk on as I got on the next ride.
I enjoyed the ride, but not something I need to do often. I headed out of Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama and to my second FP+ today, which would also be in Dinoland. I’m sure you know which one that is and nothing much else there but this one.
This is FP+ number 2
I always enjoy the queue area of this attraction as there is a lot to check out. I was in my vehicle in about ten minutes. It’s a fun ride with the scare at the very end, but it’s just so bumpy.
Once, the ride was over, I quickly exited through the giftshop and outside. This was it for me in Dinoland, but there was still more to my day in the Animal Kingdom. Two of these things will be firsts and I was looking forward to both! Especially, one of them! I headed for my next destination in the Animal Kingdom.

I know there is a back story, but I never really got the DinoRama theming either.
It was and especially being the first time seeing her! I agree with you as must be something to Dino-Rama. Perhaps, something Walt related and he may have wanted something like this?

Just got caught up. Your dinner at Blue Zoo looks amazing! I wish I liked scallops because they always look so tasty. Nice start to your Animal Kingdom day.

When I was young, scallops were one type of seafood I didn't like but somehow got accustomed to them as can be quite flavorful depending how they are prepared. I guess it was the graininess and sort of slime feel to them that turned me off, but now I love them. Especially, when they are prepared so well, like here! Enjoying the AK so much and lot more still!
