Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

So before I continue on , I just want to tell you guys what a fabulous weekend we had in NYC!!!!

In no particular order:

Aladdin is phenomenal!!!! GO SEE IT!!!!!

We had two amazing dinners and met some great people!!!!

I got a Statue of Liberty charm to add to my Pandora bracelet!!

The Museum of Natural History ROCKS!!!! I hadn't visited since my 4th grade class trip and it surely will not be as long this time!!

We love taking the Amtrak Keystone express to NY!!!!

It snowed just enough to be beautiful!!!

Ok!! Back to the PTR:

Day 3. Labadee, Haiti.

Today our ship pulls into port at 8 AM. The ship will dock facing forward so since we are on the starboard side of the ship, we will head up to a high deck and watch the ship dock. Then we will grab some breakfast. We love Labadee, but having been here many times, we will not be in a rush to get to shore today. We don't have any excursions planned and we will rent some snorkel equipment later on. After breakfast, we will do some laps around the jogging deck. Muffin will more than likely walk while I jog. Then we'll head back to our room to change into swimsuits and head to the beach. There are four beaches on Labadee and one is just for suite guests. Out of the other three, we prefer Nellie's Beach. It's just a little bit quieter and shadier. As soon as we find a spot, I am going to the beach bar to order a Labadoozie. This is a wonderful pina colada type drink that is refreshing and delicious in the hot sun.

It is always super hot in Labadee. One time when were docked here it rained but it was still super hot. We plan on wearing plenty of sunscreen and hanging on the beach for an hour or so and then finding some snorkel equipment to rent. After snorkelling, we will head over to the BBQ lunch offered and fill up on burgers and dogs before heading back to the ship.

This is a map of Labadee:

The ship leaves port at 4:30 PM today and we will be back in time to shower and change for our dinner tonight at 150 Central Park. Our meal is scheduled for 6:30 PM so we can watch sail away and then go to the champagne bar or Vintages for a nice glass of wine beforehand. The only restaurant I love more than 150 Central Park on RCCL is Wonderland. Unfortunately there is no Wonderland on Oasis of the Seas but this is surely a pretty good settle!!

The food is freshly prepared and delicious!! This restaurant was created by Michael Schwartz. He uses locally sourced fresh ingredients only. The menu changes seasonally and the restaurant is onboard all of the Oasis class ships. The restaurant is absolutely stunning inside. It is low lit with an extensive wine wall and dinner is served on gold rimmed plates. The chairs are scooped and big and you feel like you are sitting on a throne!! The cost of this meal is 45 dollars pp and includes an appetizer, an entree and a dessert or cheese selection. If you want wine pairings with your meal, it is an additional 44 bucks pp and includes an additional appetizer and four glasses of wine. Muffin will never do that but I may use some onboard credit here.

I will post a sample menu but I would also like to make special mention of the bread service!! Also, the Cucumber Martini is my favorite martini on land or at sea!!! That's all I will say about those two right now!!

150 Central Park Sample Menu:

Central Park Martini $15
grey goose vodka, cucumber, basil, lemongrass

Appetizers

Baby Beet Salad
red quinoa, kalamata olives, mint, pistachio yogurt-poppy seed dressing

Slow Roasted Butternut Squash Soup
with toasted pumpkin seeds, watercress and pumpkil seed oil

Duck Confit
whipped cauliflower, sauteed greens, pear-raisin chutney, curry oil

Lobster Gnocchi
carrot butter sauce, herb salad

Orange Radish and Fennel Salad
green olive, grilled red onion, arugula, shaved parmigano

Veal Bolognese Agnolotti
tomato parmigano nage, chives

Tuna Tartare
pickled ginger, garlio aioli, scallions, sesame seeds, shrimp chips

Entrees

18oz. Roast Tenderloin of Beef For Two
carved tableside, serve with bernaise and bordelaise sauce and a potato-leek gratin

Braised beef short rib
charred leeks, butternut squash puree, toasted walnuts, watercress

Free Range Organic Chicken
pan roasted breast, red win braised thigh, pearl onions, whipped yukon gold potatoes, red wine jus

Grilled market vegetables
curried lentils, greens, cilantro chutney

Lamb duo
roastend loin with whipped pistachio and pomegrante, sweet onion stuffed with ground lamb and apricots

Mahogony Black Cod
whipped parsnip, baby bok choy, mustard sauce

Pan roasted sea scallops
chickpeas, chorizo, escarole, saffron-clam broth

Desserts & Cheeses

Artisanal Cheese Selection
homemade bread and accompaniments

Basil Panna Cotta
strawberry consomme, lemon confit, pistachio biscotti

Bittersweet chocolate bourbon tart
salted caramel, spiced pecans, cranberry chutney, chantilly cream

Lychee tres leches
tropical fruit salsa

Warm doughnuts
anise sugar, lemon curd, chocolate sauce

After dinner, we will go to the Aqua theater for the Oasis of Dreams dive show. We loved the dive show on the Harmony and the Allure so I can't imagine we won't love this one too!! They are all a bit different which is really nice!! If we are awake enough, we may go somewhere for a nightcap. If not, we'll head back to our stateroom after the show.

Next: Day 4. Falmouth, Jamaica.

Love the sound of the menu. And adding the wine pairings seems like a good plan.

Glad you had such a great time in The Big Apple. I love the American Museum of Natural History and love it but been a while since I've been there! Probably ten years but overall been there a good 6 or 7 times at least!

Cruise is shaping up even better on this day and especially with your dinner at Central Park 150. The menu looks amazing! Even before you take this cruise I must consider this line for my next as just so much that is appealing to me. Even better as so many amazing dinner options which I'd enjoy so much and much more so than a Disney cruise and I'm sure not nearly at the cost of one of those. I loved my cruise on the Magic back in 2015 but just so expensive. I had a veranda and want one for future cruises but don't want to pay these prices. Even more so when going solo with the supplement fee, And I got a good deal on mine as one of the cheapest for the Western Caribbean 7 night variety. Perhaps, RC is better and cheaper for what you get? LML Tara!

Aladdin is phenomenal - we saw it just over a year ago in London and were blown away by it. We loved the Museum of Natural History when we visited with Sharon a couple of years ago.

Sounds like another great day - I had no idea Haiti was a cruise destination. You learn something every day.

NYC will always be my heart, Dave!! I am positive you would be very impressed with RCCL!! The cruises we choose seem to be around half the price of DCL.

Well, Haiti itself is not a cruise destination. RCCL owns ( or rents for 99 years) a small part of coastline there.

So glad you enjoyed your time in NYC! We were in NYC Saturday for a fabulous brunch at a restaurant in the Flatiron District called Park Avenue (which you should check out if you're ever in that area) and then we did the Theodore Roosevelt House Tour. When we came out it was snowing which was just so beautiful!

Your day in Labadee sounds wonderful! I really enjoyed that island on our RCCL and your dinner plans sound perfect! Your cruise will be here soon!

I saw Aladdin in NYC two years ago and absolutely loved it! I've also been to the Museum of Natural History and agree it is great!

Labadee sounds wonderful! And your dinner plans sound amazing! Phenomenal menu!
