Boo to the Halloween on the Highs Seas Crew-completed 04/04/2017 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The mini golf is not the type of golf I usually play, but it is a lot of fun. Nice theming of the course.

Looks like you had a lot of fun! We used to always get free vouchers when we bought the vacation packages years ago but we would never use them as we were always in the parks.
Oh I have such fond memories of our various mini golf exploits - I'm no good, but the theming is just so much fun!
I am terrible too but we had a lot of fun doing it. Claire is out to win.

Same with us. We just don't like taking away park time.

LOL, and I don't play the other kind at all.

Yes, we never use the vouchers either. When we have park tickets that is where we want to be. We barely have pool time.
Did I mention that my Mom isn’t patient? LOL. She was grumbling about how long it was taking and it was, but we don’t know if we just missed a bus or not. I told her after a while we could just get on the next bus that came and then transfer and head to Disney Springs, but the next bus that came was for Coronado!
The bed was stripped and bare. I didn’t get on it, but it was clear they either had changed the mattress or were getting ready for a new mattress to arrive. Yay!
We then we headed off to Disney Springs to do another new thing!
Nice photos of the other mini golf course! Looking forward to Disney Springs.

I really love all the Christmas decorating that they do at the mini golf courses. The summer side is just so adorable with the air stream trailers! Waiting for Disney buses can be very frustrating but there's not much you can do about it. Look forward to hearing about your adventures at DS.
Great photos from the other course. Ok, now I'm curious about the new thing at Disney Springs.
Coming up!

It was kind of weird that in all that time we didn't see other buses come and go either.
Off to Disney Springs! We were dropped off and the bus driver reminded us that this is not where we would be picked up and gave us the number….yeah yeah I know…it’s WAY over there!
We headed in and they asked if we wanted to eat or bowl and we said BOTH! So they set us up with a lane and explained out it worked and got us each a pair of shoes. Bowling is by the hour so we could bowl as many games as we could in that hours time. It wasn’t cheap, but not outrageous either. I do remember thinking the shoes were kind of pricey. Mom said she would pay. I didn’t argue. There was no need for her to pay, but she loves to do this and so far I had paid for the hotel and got the free golf, so she probably felt like this was her contribution.
We settled up at our lane and looked over the menu and also found our balls then got started.
We made our orders, burgers for Mom and I and pizza for Claire….again if I had been thinking right, I should have share with both of them. Mom only made a dent in her burger and Claire couldn’t eat all the pizza. I could have eaten half of Moms burger and had a slice or 2 of pizza and been fine.
We played one more game but time ran out before we completely finished, though we were close to the end. I was winning that game, but Claire was the average winner of all 3 and she didn’t let us forget that! Hahahaha
We had a little wait, and Mom and Claire went off and sat down while I waited in the line, which consisted of just me.
The bus came and we headed back to CSR again. I was so tired and so was Mom, but Claire was jumping for a swim. I really just wanted to take a nap, but being the good mom I took Claire to the pool. My Mom did take a nap though!
My bed was now made up, so the new mattress had arrived and I was happy about that.
Claire and I headed to the pool. I found a lounger and sat (was too tired to swim) and she jumped in.
I did a live video from my chair again and Claire had headed off to the slide. I kept watching from where I was but never saw her come down. Then all of a sudden she was in front of me smiling. I had totally missed her sliding and swimming back to me.
Sadly, since she was alone in the pool, it was a bit boring and not as exciting as she had hoped. Sometimes she makes pool friends, but she didn’t today.
She decided to check out the hot tub after a while, which was right behind where I was sitting.
How cool to see inside Splitsville - I don't think I've ever seen photos from in there. I used to love bowling, but as I have repetitive strain injury (carpal tunnel) in my fingers, I can't do that any longer.
Ugh, don't you hate it when couples get a little too intimate in a pool? Never mind Claire feeling uncomfortable - that makes me feel uncomfortable too!

We love to bowl but don't go as often as we would like. Skip has issues now too. With his 2 replaced hips and now his shoulders are bad, he has a lot of pain from bowling. We went for New Years Eve with my sister Amanda and got a package where we had the lane all night. It was a lot of fun, but Skip only came for a bit and went home before midnight. He said the next day he was pretty darn sore too.
The couple in the hot tub. I hate that too. Sometimes I stare at them just to see if they understand that this is not appropriate, but usually they are too busy gazing in each others eyes to notice.
Looks like a great time bowling! I've never been inside Splitzville, but have gone to the outside bar on a few occasions, which I enjoy! They make some good frozen margaritas. Perhaps, that couple in the pool should have gone back to their room?
