As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Definitely one of those restaurants that feel a meal should be an experience. Some of the presentations looked pretty neat, but some just seemed odd (like the weird tool for eating sorbet - they couldn't find a long-handled spoon?). But your overall rating was a pretty good one.
What a weird and fun place! Silver bullet, hahaha! Their presentations are way out there, wow! Funny how it doesn't matter how it's presented though, it still needs to taste good. Which I'm glad most of it did, but a few things missed the mark. Oh well. You guys ended up with full bellies though!

October 6, 2017-Enjoying an amazing dinner at Victoria & Albert's with PP's Dot and Drew

It looks like a lot of the "innovative" or "unique" ideas were just the serving-items they used. I'm disappointed there wasn't more molecular gastronomy or actual cutting edge stuff from what I can see.
Definitely one of those restaurants that feel a meal should be an experience.

Yes, some were odd, but overall, the quality of the food was very good, and that's what we mainly rate on.

We did, but not enough to go back, if that makes sense? We'd sampled so much of the menu, there wasn't much to go back and try in addition.

No, there was nothing along those lines, but then again, I don't know how easy that would be to do on a cruise ship.
The presentations were quite clever, but honestly, until you got to the desserts, none of it looked or sounded at all appealing to me.
I can understand that. Some of the presentation was decidedly odd and I must admit I took some first bites thinking "am I going to like this?" and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a little too way for, I would think, most people's liking...
Tuesday 7 June – part six: they want our disembarkation plans already?
As we had seen the sun starting to set, we decided to head up to deck 14 to get some photos of it…
My goodness, the wind was whipping around up there! However, we stuck it out, as the longer we waited, the more beautiful the view became.
We walked back through the Solarium, and it was interesting to see they had some more lighting effects now that it was the evening…
When we got back to the room, we watched the last 20 minutes or so of the last episode of Billions. We had hoped to finish it earlier, but with the drama outside, it didn’t happen. I have no idea if they’re doing series 2, but based on the ending of series 1, it’s possible. I certainly hope they go ahead with it.
I scoured their equivalent of the Daily Navigator to see what was happening the next day, and that was a constant source of amusement, as I’d read out to Mark what they’d listed as the highlights. For tomorrow, one was the “live hair show”, where “our international stylists will take you through the world of cuts, colours and styles, including a live make-over for one lucky guest”. Then there’s the Imperial Gemstone of Russia Seminar and Sale, or the House Challenge: Officers vs. Guests Blackjack. Today there had been another Officers vs. Guests challenge, table tennis, and apparently the officers were unbeaten. I don’t know if they’d maintained their run, but talk about pressure!
There was also the talk on back pain and sciatica, oh and my favourite the disembarkation questionnaire. I couldn’t believe this. We’ve only just stepped aboard, and they want to know your plans for disembarkation? You have to complete it by Sunday 12 June, which is a week before we return. This is where Disney definitely wins out, as they could easily have got people to complete it on the website beforehand.
Amazingly, we made it to 10:00pm before we finally hit the sack – that’s a record for us so far this cruise! Maybe we’ll actually sleep past 6:00am tomorrow…
The weather today was dry with some cloud and sun, and a bit windy with temperatures in the low 60s. The best thing today was just spending the day chilling. The worst thing today was the aromatic suite not working. The funniest thing today was the guy airlifted on to deck taking photos of us taking photos of him! Today we tried seeing the Hot Glass Show And the result was it was really interesting. The most magical moment today was enjoying time alone together in the hot tub and then in the comfy chair nearby, watching the world go by.
If you hadn't already noticed that you were one of the youngest on board, you'd certainly be able to tell from the activity schedule!
How funny that they want to know your disembarcation schedule already!
There's nothing like a sunset at sea. Gorgeous photos! Especially those where the sun appears to be shining down through a hole in the clouds. Awesome!
The activity schedule is amusing! I see how you and Mark got a chuckle over it. But disembarkation already? Cripes.
