Is this real life - or is this just Fantasy? updated 05/19/2016 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh my goodness, you do need a big supply of bubble wrap! Lots of for Chuck. I hope that's the last of the problems with the nosebleeds.
Thanks Cheryl. I hope it's the last of it!

I like it Mike! Great one! And I always say - "if I had joined up - I'd outrank you" so he'd HAVE to listen right? (signing up as an RN - I'd automatically be an officer)
At Sea Day! (unfortunately, I didn't take ANY pictures until dinner - sorry)
I "slept in" until around 8 am while Chuck slept until 9:30. I hung out on the verandah until Chuck got up. We got ready and headed up to Cabanas for breakfast. We were going to sit inside today because it was very hot and muggy out. We ran into Ivan (our server from Palo) and he remembered us by name! Then he asked where we were sitting and if he could bring us our drinks. I love the service! We were almost finished with breakfast when we saw Toni and Scott (from our table). They came and sat with us for a bit. After breakfast, we went to the DVC desk to get our "special gift" (hat and sand cup holders). After that, we went to the future cruise desk and booked our cruise for 2016. 7 nights out of Galveston, over Thanksgiving, goes to Key West, Nasseau and CC with 3 at sea days. (I love at sea days!)
After we were done with that, we headed back to the room and got ready for the pool. We did the pool/hot tub and headed up to Satellite Falls. The "falls" part wasn't on because it was too windy and the boat was rocking quite a bit so we were pretty much sloshing around in there. It was fun though!
After playing around in the pools, we came back to the room to get ready for our Mixology class. We headed down to Skyline Lounge and checked in. Our bartender was Jermaine (from Jamaica) and we had a fun group in this class. Some were from our town in MI! (they were also planning on taking a second Mixology class right after!) We learned how to make 5 drinks
1- a fruity Drink of the Day
2- muddled fruit and vodka - I made this one and one of the people watching me make it turned down someone else's just so she could have the one I made! (I did a "high" pour to add a little flair)
3 - Pomagranite Cozmo
4 - Prosecco with Elderflower and sour apple
5 - coffee, tequila and Bailey's shot
We didn't drink all of them (I can't have coffee - so I had a plain Bailey's shot) and we didn't finish all of the others. So we didn't get drunk (although I could see that people could!)
After this I had to use the facilities so I went to the restroom in the bar area - it had a Spanish themed mosaic and was really cool! I would have LOVED to have taken some pictures in there!
So what do you do when you have time to spare? SHOPPING!
Chuck and I were going to meet up after using the restrooms to go shopping and I thought he would be right in the bar area. Nope. So I started walking toward the shops. Still no Chuck. I got to the stores. Not there either. So I walked back. Not in the Atrium. Back to the bars - nope. Went back to the room. Nope. So I said to myself - screw it, he's still on the boat and I'm going shopping. I worked my way back to stores and Chuck finally found me there. He was going round and round looking for me as well - so we were just missing each other!
I got a Pandora bead, a tee shirt and a tervis. I was looking at a Dooney and wasn't going to get it but Chuck made me! He started asking "Can I just charge it to the room?" So I knew I was not leaving without it.
We headed back to the room and rested before it was time to get ready for dinner at Remy. When I was getting ready, I noticed that my dress had shrunk just as Chuck's shirts had before. Before we packed, I had tried it on and it fit fine. Then I washed it according to directions (cold water, inside out and hang to dry) then I packed it. It wasn't just that I had been eating too much and that it was too tight - it was actually 5 inches shorter than when I bought it! Luckily, I had another nice skirt and blouse to wear.
We headed up to Remy and were taken right in. The only way I can describe Remy is it is Victoria and Albert's at sea!
When you walk in, you pass by a wine display and it has this
The bottle of wine that Ego was drinking in Ratatouille. It costs $25,000.
A little glass Remy in the chandelier to oversee everything!
We were taken to a table in the back room and I had a view of the window - would have been wonderful except it was so dark I couldn't see anything and because I had my back to the room, I couldn't take in anything there either. But it was still wonderful!
Chuck noticed "Goofy" eyes as a reflection on the table
They gave me a footstool for my (small) clutch and camera.
They made table side a cocktail for us - Colette. It was champagne and some Elderflower and a little puree (i think pear).
Then they brought out a little thing that looked like a crouton. But it was soup! Fried tomato soup. Take it in one bite and it just explodes in your mouth. Really good!
Then we had an amuse bouche of a fois gras foam with hazelnut soup.
Next course was Caviar (up charge - but we got that and a wine pairing).
They served it up table side with a potato foam -and made it into a little mouse shape!
We didn't do the "suggested" menu and ordered our own. I had a quail course, then a lobster course and finally a kobe beef course - each with it's own perfectly paired wine. It was outstanding. Dessert was chocolate wafer with gold leaf while Chuck had a chocolate mousse napoleon type thing.
Quail
Chuck's fish course - I forgot what it was exactly
We both had this - lobster tail on a bed of spinach with a bisque and a foam
We also both had this - Kobe beef with oxtail and marrow
They brought out a red napkin to signify the beginning of the dessert course
Chocolate wafer bar with edible gold
Chocolate napoléon
After dinner, they brought tarts, lollipops (house made), and candies.
"After dessert" dessert. We had to have these boxed up.
chocolate bark
Tea cakes
The dinner ended with a rose. As we were leaving, they warned us to be careful because of the motion of the ship. It was really rocking but we were ok and didn't have far to go for our room (just a few floors down). When we got back to our room, the bed was turned down and there was a vase with water already prepared for my rose!
After that dinner - I think we just fell into a food coma for a while.
Looks like a good time at the mixology class and an incredible meal at Remy! Everything looked so good!
