As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I went through all my kitchen cabinets today. Just about everything stayed but it's more organized. I also wiped down the inside of all the cabinets before everything was put in place.
I was going to call it a day after that but my bathroom was a disaster. Now it's clean, organized and I changed out the shower curtain and curtains.
Next week will be my office which will be an all day job

Whoa, Margo (if that is your real name... ). You are going for it! Good for you!
Today I tried to put some reorganization effort in at work but I found myself even further and further behind. Yikes. Finding myself thinking about a career change lately...sigh...
On the positive side, I have been writing things down and putting notes places that have been helpful. But overall, I feel like my mind is bursting at the seams.
Agreed that Flylady has some good tips for decluttering and organizing. I got her book some years ago and tried her system.
What put me off somewhat was the true weirdness of her insistence that you first form the habit of thoroughly cleaning your kitchen sink nightly before going to bed, polish it (assuming it's stainless steel as many are anymore) and then HAND DRY it, including rubbing the fixtures down until spotless.
Tried that a few times and soon gave up on it as a silly waste ot time, effort and energy to do more than a good cleaning. Hand dry the SINK??! Is the woman whacked in the noggin or what????
Instead, I got Young and Jones's Sidetracked Home Executives: From Pigpen To Paradise which proved to contain only sensible tips and really streamlined my organizing things and chores both.
Heartily recommend their book instead.

I've never followed ALL her advice, myself--I was fortunate enough to have a cleaning lady until DH retired. Now DH--way more organized and concerned about neatness than I am--takes care of a great deal of the cleaning (and our sink is pretty shiny nearly all the time anyway). Yeah, he's a keeper!
But decluttering, and just keeping things neat, is my major challenge. I like her advice on that score: You can do ANYTHING for 15 minutes, start on one area at a time, etc.
Dot, I've never read the SHE book, but I was an active poster on a SHE forum for ages. Funny, I never talked with anyone about their system there, but it was a good support forum. I'm kind of a one-forum girl so I don't post there anymore.
I'm going to see if our library has their book. Thanks for the tip!
On the whole, Flylady was just too chirpy for my tastes.
After looking through Sidetracked Home Executives, I concluded that its approach and style suited me far more.
I didn't care for Flylady's frequent religious references either. Others find such inspiring and encouraging, and they're welcome to Flylady's take on God plus housekeeping if it suits them. I'm contrary that way. Religion has its place but not in a book on doing household chores more efficiently, IMO.
YMMV, as ever. (Your mileage may vary.)

I haven't done much de-cluttering this last week. I have a good reason though, we are leaving for WDW in 8 days. I have started organizing all of the things we will need for our trip and hope to get the suitcases out this weekend.
So I started in on the cabinet in the bathroom last night...still need to do more, but got rid of a bunch of stuff! I forgot to snap a pic of my declutter calendar, so I'll try to remember to get what days are checked off now later on. Most of what I pulled out ended up in the garbage. There was just so much under there...old meds, lotions I tried and hated, boxes of bandaids (how did I end up with 5??)...good grief!
However, I did the 30 minutes I promised myself I would do...tonight I will do at least that much more! The decluttering isn't going fast, but it is going!!!

Dot: Flylady+chirpy=you are right! But I still love her, as she saved me from dispair many years ago. I don't need her now.
Jeana: Have a great trip! So jealous!!!
Jennifer: You are on a roll. Good for you for continuing. Isn't clearing a really neglected spot therapeutic?
As for me, I've still got my head in the game, but all my focus has been at work or with family. My mom had a heart procedure yesterday (ablation) and she did really well, but I spent all my free time with them after work and homeschool.
I'm so impressed. Everyone has made so much progress!!!
A few posts ago someone mentioned buying tray organizers and bins. One of the takeaways from Messie Me series is 'don't spend money to look good'. The idea behind decluttering/organizing is to slim down your belongings and make them more accessible. [Yes The Container Store is my favorite store too.] But I will say there are lots of free hacks you can do to organize your house, without bringing in more stuff.
My organizing focus right now is on Christmas decorations.

I sooooo need to do this. In fact, I need to go thru the decorations for ALL the holidays and pare it down - A LOT!!!
So, here is where I stand on my declutter calendar. Checked off since last update:
Jan 8th
Jan 9th
Jan 11th
Jan 14th
Jan 15th
Feb 3rd
That's another 60 items for a total of 355 items gone!!! Most of the 60 was trash or old products from under the bathroom counter. Gotta do more there, but didn't feel up to it last night. Ate something that didn't agree with me and ended up curled up on the couch for the night. Tonight will be a different matter! Going to try to finish up under the bathroom counter tonight. And on Saturday I really want to paint in the living room...but that's a whole different project!
