Me, Muffin and WDW for Xmas stuff!! PTR - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You have once again completely changed things around!
Glad you were able to work things out over Thanksgiving - phew! I am so sad that the Osborne Lights are ending this year and we won't even be able to bid them farewell. I really will miss them.
Glad you were able to work out your work schedule!
More great plans!
Thanks, Mayra! Me too!!

I'm sure, like your PP friends, your family has learned to roll with it. I will grant that this one wasn't your fault..
for Chicago! Not sure, though, how you end up at Mall of America when you're in Chicago and Green Bay?! Do I need to get a map out!?
Just don't get TOO excited about MOA. I've been many times as I used to travel to MSP once a month. It's a gigantic mall, with an amusement park in the middle. The only difference from any other mall? They have 2 of a lot of things - one at each end, as it's so big. But it still has all the "normal" places - chain stores.
Thanks, Colleen!. You mean it's just like King of Prussia?! Oh well. I love that mall! Muffin said we are flying into Minnesota and doing a lot of driving to wind up flying home from Chicago. Makes no never mind to me!. I'm just there for my good looks!

Thanks, Cheryl!. I am so grateful to be able to see them!!
OMG, I laughed out loud at your Thanksgiving fiasco! Glad it's back on!
Your DHS day sounds awesome! Christmas at Disney is the best! We've only been once at Christmastime, but would love to go back again someday. I'm glad we were able to see the Osborne Lights at least once. Would love to be able to see them again, but I guess that was not meant to be.
Here is a picture of me and my friend Christy from Painting with a Twist!! Of course, our paintings were originals, but we sure did have a good time creating them! I highly recommend this to anyone who has the opportunity. It was a blast!!!!!

Thanks, Donna.. I feel very fortunate to be able to see those lights one last time!

Love the plans and the changes you've made so far with them! I'm quite certain this won't be the last time you tweak or completely change things around!

I am loving your plans! I am glad you got the Thanksgiving day plans worked out. That totally sounds like something that would happen to me. You will be eating at Sci Fi for breakfast four days after me!

Thanks, Amy!! I really can't wait to try the Sci Fi for breakfast!!
First of all, they have a new product at my nail salon that is very cool!!
When I get my nails done, I always get a gel manicure and a pedicure. As soon as I pulled up to to my salon, I noticed these posters in the window advertising a product called SNS, which stands for Signature Nail System. The poster said that this was not a gel and not an acrylic and that no lights were required to dry the polish.
Of course, I had to ask my manicurist about it and she said that it was long lasting, quick drying and did not chip and that it was better for your nails than gel. She told me that she was a convert to it and showed me her nails, which looked pretty good! The cost was the same, so I had to try it! For those of you who get gel nails, I will tell you that it is kind of weird dipping your fingers in a powder, but it is also nice to not have to have them dry under the lights.
Basically, they put a base coat on your nail and then you dip your finger in a colored powder. It looks gross until they coat it again and then you repeat the process. Then you wash your hands and they finish with two top coats. It dries almost instantly and it looks as shiny as gel does. We will see if it lasts as long, but hey, I'll try anything once! My manicurist told me that I can always switch back if I don't like it. Anyway! Sorry for the long explanation, but it is a completely different procedure for me than I am used to.
Also, as you know, I did the painting With a Twist class last night and LOVED it!! It was the most fun girls' night out that I have had in a long time!! All of our paintings turned out very interesting and we all agreed that we are going to do it again! It was the best 35 bucks that I have spent in a long time!
I wanted to give my masterpiece to Sean and Jane but Muffin said no way and hung it up in our back room! I that guy because it really is not an impressive piece of art!!
Right now, Muffin and his brother are at a reunion and then we are headed to my SIL's for a cookout with my crazy California family! I found the coolest dress in my closet that is very Halloweeny and still had the tags on. I tried it on and it looks great!! I am bringing my camera, so I will try to post some pics.
Tonight we are going out with Sean and Jane and I will also try to get some pictures of them and their house!
On the Disney front:
Day 3-November 30th!
Today we are planning an AK day! We are again going to try to get to lots of stuff we didn't do in the summer because of the heat. This is my absolute favorite park and the Christmas decorations here are gorgeous!!
We have FP's for:
Expedition Everest
Kilimanjaro Safaris
Dinosaur
We have dinner reservations at Sanaa tonight and I am very much looking forward to that!! I think after dinner, we are going to just hang out and enjoy the resort!!
Sounds like you are having a great weekend and that's without a big hit at the casino! Your plans for AK look good and how can you go wrong with Sanaa!
