Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Great first day plans! Tusker House is great for breakfast! We love it! You must go to AKL, it is such a beautiful resort and yes you can go an see the animals and explore the whole resort. Boma has just about anything for the pickiest eater and the chef there is wonderful with allergies. You should give it a try. Love the gift shop at AKL too! I can't wait to see the rest of your plans.

P.S. I would hide Frozen too!

Love your AK plans! I think an extra park day at WDW would be better than traveling to Legoland. If you try The Mara at AKL, remember they also serve the Zebra Domes that are so famous from the Boma.

Your first day plans sound terrific! Tusker House is a fun breakfast and is also in our plans (for the moment, anyway!). I hope you do make it to AKL! Can you tell it is my favorite resort!!?? Muffin and I are staying there in December. I wanted to try and fit a meal in there for this trip but it just isn't going to work out this time. ALL of the food is delicious there, and there are lots of choices and variety.
They DO grow up so fast. Just this morning, the youngest told me I'd "freaked him out" when I substituted apple for the pear he thought I'd cut up.

We're off an running to soccer as soon as I can cram dinner in them - thankfully, Brian's track meet has been cancelled because of the weather, so I'll have another pair of hands to help out.

I HAVE to go check out AKL just because everyone here has raved about it, and y'all have yet to give bad advice

That's awesome to hear about how they handle allergies - it's a growing concern right now as Patrick is having a reaction to a mystery substance

Ironically enough - as I was posting this update, the boys were watching....Frozen. I do enjoy the movie, but after hearing about Jenny's constant in the car experience...they'll have to settle for their stuffed (non talking) Olaf

Absolutely, though you'll have to fight for space with a few other friends

We're thinking IF we can coordinate schedules - of making a spring break trip to Winterhaven to spend time with my in-laws, and catch a few spring training games...with a side trip just for Legoland.

Thanks! I've put that in my notes as I didn't know that! I'd never really investigated too much about that resort because we don't fit in a single standard room, so I'm sure I'll have more questions as I continue planning

We have found that at most of the Disney owned restaurants the are amazing with Jonathon's allergy. Only a couple have been just ok and all but one of those were not Disney owned so we took extra care just like we do at home. The only Disney owned place was Crystal Palace and the Chef was just so so and not really making much effort but I got the gist of what was safe so that was all that mattered. It was just after having other places go above and beyond that was kind of a disappointment. I could not imagine listending to Frozen over and over and over. I think a stuffed Olaf is perfect. LOL

You first day plans are fabulous! You will love Tusker House. They do something to those tator tots I swear. They are the best ever and I normally am not that big of a fan. That is also the only place that has allergy free Nickey shaped waffles so yay for that! Your ride plan sounds similar to mine except no Triceratops Spin, and my boys will go on the thrill rides while I wander the trails.

I'll save you the pain of imagining. It was awful and really should be considered a form of torture. 14 hours of Let It Go. I kept saying, "take her advice. Let it go. Watch something else." That didn't work. I was so tempted to "accidentally" leave that movie at a rest stop. Melissa & Amy were getting the play by play as I tried to keep my sanity through text messages.

Your first day plans look great! Let me know how Expedition Everest goes with the boys. I wanted to take Sean on it, but he wasn't quite tall enough yet.

Great plans! Since Cullen & Patrick want to ride EE, how tall are they? Dylan did it in October and enjoyed it.
You're just starting soccer and this weekend is our last. I coached Lukas' team this year and it's been fun.

Every time I watch an NBA game (my Cavs are in the playoffs ) I think of your family.

Things will get a bit calmer once Brian finishes his school year (June 2nd). I finish June 9th and the older two are in camp that week, and the youngest has Safety Town.

Chef Mickey and the Contempo Cafe at The Contemporary also have the allergen friendly Mickey waffles (which are also GF)...or at least they were there on our last trip.

I remember those texts - so does Brian....and he reminds me every time the boys ask to watch Frozen

We'll see - remember how they weren't too happy with the kid sized roller coasters at Cedar Point last summer? I have a feeling it might be a wasted FP+ selection

Patrick and Cullen have both hit the 44 inch mark (finally). They may want to ride it now, in the safety of their home but in the park, it is probably going to be a different situation. I wouldn't be surprised if they decided not to ride after all.

Updated 4/24

Well, our break neck pace of a week kept me from updating this...and it proves to be a really good thing, because it will save me from "back tracking" as more changes have been made.

First, Darlene (CinderAbby) had an amazingly helpful post today - Be Our Guest has extended the breakfast trial until July 18th . As soon as I read that post, I hopped on the website (side note: I'm really thankful not to have to dial the number that I can find in my sleep and talk to a human about making more changes) AND.....I scored an 8:00 am ADR on July 18th for BoG

What does that mean? It means that I need to "tweak" my original plans. This was originally going to be a "non" park day - we were going to relax, go play some mini golf and celebrate my Birthday with dinner at 1900 Park Fare. Obviously, this is now going to be our first MK day (we have 2 planned).

A series of back and forth texts happened between Brian and I (he's at an invitational track meet...in Darke County). He was concerned about fitting in a park day around two planned sit down meals - even the BoG is technically a QS, he feels it's more of a leisurely breakfast than a grab and go sandwich from a stand. So...he convinced me that I should move 1900 Park Fare to another day (more on that later).

So...after our breakfast, we'll move to the "rope" drop area of Fantasyland and with the masses, make a brisk walk to the Seven Dwarves Mine Train. Hopefully, we can get it accomplished right away.

Our "must do's" for this park:
Cullen: "Splash Mountain" and "Meeting Ana and Elsa"
Patrick's list" Big Thunder Mountain" "Getting a new ticket for Tomorrow land Speedway"
Nolan's list "Seven Dwarves Mine Train" & Investigating Tom Sawyer's Island.

Brian's Favorite? "PoC" will be closed for refurbishment His other Favorite? "Haunted Mansion" which the boys have decided is too scary for them.

Me? I had a hard time narrowing down to just two. My is Peter Pan because it's the first ride I remember from my childhood visits, and the first ride I rode with my family on our visit in 2010. I also love the Little Mermaid and can't wait to ride.

As for FP+ I am not sure what we will be able to get, or what times, and I have 23 days left to figure this out as it's a brand new experience. I do plan on trying to schedule our FP+ for later in the day. We aren't park hopping and know the crowds will be "lighter" during the day and build after dinner, and we've always had luck touring this park right at opening until lunch time when it gets super crowded. We plan on heading back to the resort for lunch/swim/nap/downtime and returning to the park later in the day.

Up Next: July 19th
