As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just getting all caught up (again)--let's blame it on the holidays, shall we? (grin)
Love all your pictures, descriptions, and stories! And I'm glad that the sign pointed out that the booty shorts were for ladies. I don't think I would want to see any men (that I know) in booty shorts, thank you very much!

Sorry conditions weren't great for snorkeling, but at least Claire gave it a try
That sure was a lot of ships docked, so glad that store had an ample supply of booty shorts for everyone coming ashore!
I had a horrible feeling the weather was going to affect your excursion. That's too funny about the bootyshorts!
My next worry was would we be able to make it to Castaway Cay as when it's too windy they have issues getting in....
I now know where to get booty shorts if I ever have the urge to wear them.

I totally understand. I can't stay caught up on anything anymore.
Yeah I don't know any men I would want to see in them either.

One time when we docked in Nassau, there were 7 ships!
It did make it harder, but we fought through it. It was a good work out.
That's crazy

It was super busy there. I have never seen that many there in my 4 times of going to Nassau.

It was hard but I am still glad we did it. I like that she did something new.
WE had a good laugh over the booty shorts.

I can only imagine the rage people would feel if they ran out of booty shorts!
And of course some dessert….which always includes a chocolate chip cookie.
After we ate, Skip took Claire swimming.
As they were in there I noticed how much Claire looks like Skip. At one point I only saw both their foreheads sticking out and I couldn’t tell who was who. LOL.
I told them I was heading off the ship again for a little bit and would catch up with them later.
I walked down the streets and browsed a few shops.
I know I went in the Del Sol store and looked at things but they were more money than I wanted to spend for what they were. I ended up just buying some pretty and nice smelling soaps and a couple of magnets.
I then headed back to the ship.
Cold towellette?
I headed back to the room and showered and just kind of hung out and straightened things up. We had been part of the fish extender exchange…kind of like a secret santa that’s not so secret. You sign up ahead of time and then deliver gifts to other rooms that are part of it and they in turn deliver little gifts to yours. You hang your pocket extender on the fish outside the door. I had been delivering ours off and on throughout the cruise….. I went through what we had and we really got a lot of things this time and some nice stuff too. Typically a lot of it is junk, but we did get some decent usable stuff this time around.
After a bit Claire and Skip made it back to the room. Claire had made a friend at the pool…actually on the Aqua Dunk. Yes…her and Skip did the Aqua Dunk. Skip said it was painful and only did it once, but Claire did it several times. While in line she recognized a girl who had sang karaoke the night before and struck up a conversation with her. They then swam together and had a lot of fun. Claire asked if she could skip dinner tonight and go to the kids club as her friend was going to be there during the time of our dinner. I said that was fine and I was excited she had made a new friend.
I told Claire to get in the shower and I would order some room service. Skip wanted to know why I would do such a thing…..because I can…that’s why! Claire at this point in time always had me help her wash her hair. She can do it on her own but preferred me to do it. I told her to just do it on her own and she kept yelling out for help and step by step instructions. Seriously? It’s not hard to take a dang shower. Now that it is several months later she is a pro at taking them and doesn’t ask for help and I am so happy she decided this is something she can do on her own…..about time! So I made the room service order and we just hung out in the room while we waited. Skip took a little nap. A knock finally came on our door and our goodies were here.
I got Claire a hot dog and fries since she would be missing dinner. She doesn’t like buns so she took the hotdog out and started eating it before I grabbed the camera.
I ordered the All Hands on Deck cheese platter.
After we had our snacks we decided to head out for a bit. I have no pictures, so I am not sure exactly what we did, so it must not have been too exciting…or it was and I was too excited to take pictures. LOL.
I believe we then headed to the show, where Skip got some sort of beverage and Claire got popcorn. Tonight’s show was Villains Tonight, which is my least favorite Disney show. It was also pirate night tonight. Skip thought this one was better than the night before, which surprised me.
I think we then dropped Claire off at the kids club and headed back to our room for some reason for a few minutes.
And then a walk by the Buena Vista Theatre.
Captain Hook out for a meet and greet.
And we worked our way to dinner, which was at Lumiere’s tonight.
It was strange with it being just the 2 of us.
Our rolls.
I got my favorite drink…a Princess Delight. It’s so good….no alcohol in it for those wondering. I think it’s a mango and Strawberry smoothie basically. I actually had them make me something like this on the Princess cruise I took in Sept. Not quite as good but it was not too far off and delicious as well.
Skip was trying different ways to wear his bandana.
They came around taking pictures at one point so Skip and I gave our best pirate looks. Since I had a coupon for a free picture this is the one that I ended up getting. It was the only one where Skip wasn’t giving a creepy look.
Appetizers started to come out. I got the Escargot - with diced mushrooms and garlic butter, served with a Baguette.
I also got the Iced Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp – with green asparagus, horseradish cream and dill dressing.
Skip got the Onion Soup Gratinee – with baguette and Gruyere cheese.
I believe I got the Roasted Filet for an entrée. (Well some kind of steak)
After feeling left out last night, Skip got 2 entrees tonight. I have no clue what this is…possibly the duck?
And some sort of steak as well.
He cleaned his plates so they must’ve tasted decent to him.
You got some wonderful pictures both on the water and land too! Although I'm not a fan of the Bahamas, the water does look pretty. Sorry the seas were rough for snorkeling. I'm sure Claire enjoyed her time at the pool when you got back though!
