One if By Land - TR by Coop/ChukkerB - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

No worries! I noticed when I was at urgent care the other day, there were a lot of people coming in with flu like symptoms! Hope you stay healthy!
Thanks.

We were up by 8-ish, tea and coffee on the balcony and out the door by 9-ish. We took a bus (direct this time ) to MK. We stopped for the street performers and then headed over to Starbucks for a coffee. When it came our turn the lady asked for our order and we gave it- coffee and an egg sandwich for Chuck, decaf latte and egg sandwich for me. She asked my name and I said "Tracy" but it was so loud in there that she heard "Trixie" - so that was what she wrote on my cup! Yep - I became Trixie for the day. Hahaha.
We waited just a little bit for our sandwiches and coffee. We ate the sandwiches there but took the coffee to go so we could work our way back toward FantasyLand. We got back to FL with some time to spare for our FP's - so we got a cinnamon roll from Gaston's to go with the rest of our coffee. I picked out a table outside while Chuck went inside for our roll and some waters. I was watching Gaston who was out posing for pictures.
The people at the table next to us asked if they could borrow our extra chairs and then one asked where we got Starbucks. I told her it was Main St Bakery. Well, Chuck was inside for quite some time and come to find out they were SLOW! Not that there were too many people but the CM's were just moving so slowly but he made it back with my coveted cinnamon roll!
After our "breakfast/dessert" we had a FP for Tales with Belle. While we were outside, we heard one guy complain "this is supposed to be new, you'd think they could've spent more time on the sidewalks" and we just cracked up because the rough sidewalks with their leaf prints, etc were part of the theme! I was amazed by Tales with Belle. Mainly by Maurice's workshop and the mirror. I mean, HOW DO THEY DO THAT?!?!?! Neither of us were picked to be characters, but we thought it was a cute show all the same.
After that, we left and walked by 7DMT and went over toward Tomorrowland. I whipped Chuck at Buzz (350k!) and then we took a ride around on the people mover.
My score
Chuck's score
Finally our FP for 7DMT was ripe! We headed over there and didn't have long to wait for our train ride. It was very smooth and very short. I'm glad we didn't wait in standby for this, but I would do it again. At the top of the big hill (where everyone who is standing in FL can stand by the fence and watch) Chuck let out a huge yell - like he was dying or something. He said "that'll scare em!" LOL! I didn't manage to get very many pictures. Well, I'll just have to try again.
After our ride, we went and did Philharmagic. We had been missing that one the past couple trips. But it was good fun, as always.
We started working our way over toward AdventureLand but we were passing by Liberty Square and wanted to get waffle sandwiches from Sleepy Hollow. We had wanted to try these last year but didn't realize that they only offer them from 11a-5pm and we missed it. So today we got 1 chicken and waffle sandwich and 1 fruit and nutella waffle sandwich and shared. They were very yummy - and messy!
After that we went to the Hall of Presidents. Again, another show we hadn't done in a few years.
another pic of my castle -
We walked over toward AdventureLand and stopped for an Orange Bird drink in a souvenir orange. It reminded Chuck of when he was a kid. Then we headed over to Jungle Cruise. We had a FP for this but still had to wait quite a bit! I'm surprised that their FP line was just as long as standby!
After seeing the backside of water, we were working our way out of the park with a quick stop at Casey's. We got in line and the people in front of us apparently didn't understand the menu, and the English language, and our money, etc. So the cashier was trying his best but you could tell he was getting a little frustrated. She (the customer) held open her wallet and he took her money, counting it in front of her and digging for change. We ended up changing lines after 10 mins. We got some corn dog nuggets and fries to share and we each had a drink. Chuck also asked for just a plain hot dog and he ended up with a plain hot dog and fries and a drink - when all he wanted was just the dog. So basically, we got 2 meals when we really just wanted one meal and an extra hot dog. We found a table inside and had our food. When we were leaving, we noticed someone looking for a spot so we called them over and gave them our table. People were starting to line up for the parade and now, looking back, we should have too because we never did see the new parade. But no, we just hopped on a bus and made tracks for Kidani.
Mandatory bus pic
Pool, hot tub, drinks - The usual afternoon routine. Cleaned up and then headed back out to DTD for dinner ressies at Fulton's. I had never had crab before so we both got the steak (filet for me and strip for Chuck) and shared a side of Alaskan King Crab legs. YUM! Oh boy - I like crab! Our server was very good and showed me how to crack the crab and get the meat.
Regular martini and Pomegranate martini
lettuce cups
Cesar salad
Filet/mashed potatoes (it was a HUGE steak)
Yep - 1/2 lb of Alaskan King crab legs = two legs!
NY strip
We had a very good meal and then stopped at Once Upon a Toy on the way back to the busses. We were looking for a DVD so we would have something for the evening, as we didn't bring any with us. We usually bring a season of MASH or Big Bang Theory just in case there isn't anything worth watching when we get back to the room. There wasn't a big selection and nothing we didn't already own so we just headed home. Once we got back to Kidani, we stopped at the gift shop for a Mickey Bar ice cream. Now, there are 2 bins in the freezer section - one for Mickey Bars and one for Mickey head ice cream sandwiches. BOTH had the sandwiches and there was only 1 bar in the entire freezer. So we asked if they had any in the back. "No. But you can walk down to the bar or over to the Mara and get some" ????? Really?!?!?!?! Was I expecting too much for "What room are you in? I can get some from XXXX and have someone bring them up to you. How many do you want and do you want them charged to your room?" Really?! Chuck was ticked! So was I but not as much as he was. We told them to just forget it and went sulking back to our room to console ourselves with leftover caramel treats.
Looking back - we ate A LOT this day! Wow!
Up Next- Will we EVER get a Mickey Ice Cream Bar?!?!
A great day and some wonderful photos, Trixie . The light in the first one makes it look like a painting! The comment on the shoddy work with the pavement is so funny-- sad, too! All that work the Imagineers put into details like that gone to waste. I wonder what he thought when he saw the pathways at AK! You probably already know this, but you can borrow DVDs for free from the DVC clubhouse at Kidani (and all the DVC resorts). A lot of people think the clubhouse is just for kids, but the DVD library is a nice extra.
What a great day! You got quite a lot accomplished at MK. Meals and treats looked yummy! Sorry there were no Mickey Bars!
We've borrowed DVDs on our two DVC stays. The clubhouse at BLT and the Marketplace at BCV both had quite a number to choose from. And it's a nice way to unwind after a long day.
I was so glad we finally got to meet, and I told Luke that you and Chuck were the best huggers. I was just disappointed that we had such a short time together. I was also frustrated with myself that I kept forgetting to get PP meet photos. I didn't get a pic with Amy Goff either. Great meals and F&WF dishes!

Thanks! We thought about going to the clubhouse, but we decided against it.

We did check out the clubhouse when we stayed at BLT. We just passed on it this time.

It was so great to finally meet you! You give great hugs, yourself! I was so enthralled (Star struck from meeting THE Cam and Luke) that I totally forgot about getting a pic! Hopefully, there will be a next time! We need to have a drink and do some SHOPPING!
Today was another lazy, sleep in kind of day. We got up around 9 am and did the usual tea/coffee on the balcony. We headed out around 11 am and got to HS around noon.
We did have a little time before our FP at LMA, so we went through The Great Movie Ride. Although, I swear we will NEVER get the cowboy side. I'm beginning to think there really isn't one and it's all a myth.
Being hungry, we decided to stop before FP and we went through line at Pizza Planet (a first for us). We discovered that it's pretty good pizza. Not Via Napoli good but definitely not frozen.
We had to inhale our food so we could make our FP at LMA because we were pushing it for time. Show FP gives you only a 15 min window instead of an hour. We had meant to see this last year and never got around to it and since it will be leaving, we wanted to make sure we saw it this year. It's a good show.
Afterward, we stopped at Writer's Stop for a water and a carrot cake cookie for me and a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie for Chuck.
Then we headed over to TSMM. Chuck beat me - barely. By like 1000 points.
Since this was going to be leaving, I had to snap a pic on our walk by.
After that, we had some time before our next FP, so we headed over to Animator Academy and we were the last two in the class and had lap boards to draw on in the back of the room. We drew Goofy and I think they turned out pretty good. But naturally, I didn't take pics. We have them here somewhere and if I can, I will try to get a pic and post it. After our drawing lesson, we headed over to Indiana Jones to see that one again, probably for the last time as well. We got to our seats and then a guy was walking down the aisle right next to us when he was called out by the woman looking for volunteers. I told Chuck he was a plant. Sure enough - he was an actor/stuntman. We liked the show and had a good time but it was time to head back to the resort for some pool/hot tub time.
When we got back to Kidani, we decided to see if they had the Mickey Bars in yet. Nope - not in the freezer. Freezer was still only stocked with ice cream sandwiches. So we asked if they had them in back again. The lady was the same lady from last night and remembered us so she went and looked and found a box. We bought 2 along with some cheese and crackers. While in line for our purchase, I noticed someone who looked a lot like Tracy A. (elbodans) from PP in line - buying wine, naturally. We said hello and had brief introductions but again, no pics. Then Chuck and I made our way to our room to change for the pool. After our pool/hot tub, we brought back our drinks and had that with our cheese and crackers.
We got ready and headed over to MK. Our plan was to get dinner QS there but by the time we were ready for food, places were closing up. We did manage Spectromagic and Wishes.
We had gone all over MK looking for something QS to get for dinner. Tortuga Tavern was what we wanted but it was closed. Casey's was too busy. We just kind of poo-poo'd every idea so we headed back to the room and were just going to have snacks for dinner. We went straight to bed as I was starting to not feel great. I started with a cough and my sinuses were bothering me. I took some Afrin to break up the congestion. First mistake. Stay tuned.
Great pics of ELP Cowboy ride does exist We took somebody elses suggestion and asked how long before it would load waited for 2 loadings and got right on board
I'm definitely in for some drinks and shopping in the future! And we'll have to get a picture, too.
We haven't seen LMA in a few trips. It used to be a must do for Luke. Nice finish to the night with Spectromagic and Wishes, but bummer that food spots weren't working out.
