As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I woke up around 8:30 am and I could hear DSis and DS talking in the living room. I got out of bed, washed up, and got dressed. DH got up a few minutes later and got ready. I walked into the living room and DSis was telling me that she could see hot air balloons off in the distance.
After a while we got gathered all our bags and we headed to the bus stop. Our destination this morning was Magic Kingdom. It was around 10:00 am when we arrived at the park. We went through bag check and DH and I needed to go to guest relations to pick up our MNSSHP tickets. DSis and DS decided to head into the park and were going to meet us in front of Be Our Guest for our lunch ressie.
DH and I got in the guest services line and there were probably 8 people in front of us. We didn’t wait long, maybe 20 minutes later we were at the window explaining our situation. The lady at the window was helpful but not very friendly. She found our information and quickly provided our 5 tickets, we only needed 4, but we took them all. Tickets in hand, we headed into the park to meet up with DSis and DS.
By this time it was very close to our Be Our Guest reservation which was booked at 10:35am – 11:05 am. We waited around a little bit and before we knew it, it was 10:45 am. We were really hungry and we hurried to get in line. We didn’t pre-order, so we went through the que to order our food. We waited for about 5 minutes and we were finally told to go to a kiosk to order.
~I ordered a coke to drink, a carved turkey sandwich with fries, and The Master's Cupcake.
~DH ordered a coke to drink and a carved prime chuck roast beef sandwich with fries.
~DSis ordered a coke to drink, the tuna nicoise salad, and The Master's Cupcake.
~DS ordered a coke to drink, a carved prime chuck roast beef sandwich with fries, and a lemon meringue cupcake.
We paid for our food and we ventured off to find seats. We found a nice table in the main dining room. We sat all of our stuff at the table and then made our way to the self serve area to grab our drinks and condiments. We had a hard time finding mayonnaise until we were told it’s kept in the cooler underneath and a nice CM helped us get it.
We sat and enjoyed the view for about 10 minutes before our food arrived. It was a really nice atmosphere for a mediocre food experience. We probably won’t do it again, but it was nice to try.
We finished up our lunch and we headed out of the restaurant. DSis and DS wanted to ride the teacups before we headed out of the park. We weren’t going to spend too much time at MK today because the next day we were going to be there all day. It was close to noon and we headed out of the park and to the busses. DSis and DS decided that they were going to go straight to EPCOT from MK and DH and I decided to go back to the resort for a quick break and then meet DSis and DS at EPCOT after awhile. We arrived back at the resort at 12:45 pm.
Sorry the food at Be Our Guest wasn't better for you.
It wasn't bad food, it just wasn't WOW. The restaurant was lovely and I'm glad we tried it. The cupcake, IMO, was dry and bland. The entrees were good but I don't think it was the best "counter service" lunch I've ever had.
We changed out Epcot day that day to MK so we were in the park then as well!! This is crazy how many times we were in the same park, when originally we thought we were only going to be in the same park on Wed and at Epcot!!!
I missed out on BOG on our Monday time. My parents and my girls really enjoyed it. They brought back my half of the turkey sandwich and I thought it was really good. Just wish I had got to experience the restaurant in person!

That is crazy! I can't believe that either. We were only in the park for a short time but still! We had park hopper so we were kind of all over the place to be honest.
I was glad that we got to see the restaurant but I wasn't super excited about the food. It was just OK in my opinion. The restaurant was really pretty though.
I think when we go back in June, I'll try to snag a Be Our Guest dinner, to see if I like that any better...we will see though.
Okay all caught up again. Wow wow wow. I am not sure how I would reacted if my MIL told me to shut-up. We do not allow the words in our home, I agree very disrespectful. Wow is all I say and I am so sorry she acted that way. Has she ever apologized or anything? The rest of your trip seems to be going great!

She has never apologized. We actually haven't heard from her since the day DH took her home. It's very sad to be honest. I just wished she would have been more excited and happy to have been there. Oh well, lesson learned.
I've noticed that most of the folks here who've dined at BOG for lunch find it just to be a mediocre meal at a too high price. That's why we've not rushed to try lunch there.

Yes, I've heard that as well. I couldn't get a ressie for dinner so lunch was the next best thing. I honestly just wanted to see what the inside of the place looked like and boy was it lovely. When we go back in June, I'm going to try and snag a dinner ressie, but I won't hold my breath on it. DSis said she really liked her salad, but other than that...everything was fair to average.
