As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just catching up (again). You sure have been busy! And congrats on becoming a Grammy!
Can you believe I've never eaten in a Cheesecake Factory? Is it really as good as your pictures make it look?
And Manta? 3 times? I'm bowing to your awesomeness and intestinal fortitude!
Can't wait for more (and any new pics of the baby!)
I seem to be always behind lately too!
I love Cheesecake factory. Their menu is like a book. .....and it is so good...at least everything I have tried.
I have some pictures of the baby that I haven't loaded to my computer yet. I need to do that.

I just had a feeling it was taking me the wrong way, but I just was hoping I was mistaken.
Now I haven’t mentioned it much lately, but many people were complaining about the whole “My Disney Experience”. And in a crowded room like this I could hear a lot of people talk about it as we waited. The apps weren’t working right; people did not like the 3 FP restriction and having to schedule them ahead. I think some people are now getting used to it, but it still is a mess in my opinion and needs a lot more work. I still am not a fan of the prescheduled FP’s and it has made a lot of walk on rides now have long waits.
Anyways…..I took a few pictures while we waited.
I kept watching this ticker. I am not sure what it was as it didn’t actually countdown to when the doors opened, which I thought was what it was doing at first.
We enjoyed the show. Claire thought it was pretty funny and I am glad we went and saw it again after so many years.
Look who we saw out for a meet and great!
Even though we love them, we did not stop as the line was long and we had another destination to get to.
Our first fastpass of the day was for Star Tours.
Claire just loves this ride. She would ride it over and over if I let her. I tend to get a little motion sick on this though if I ride it over and over, so I try not to. I do however try to take bonine each day to prevent that feeling.
We headed over towards Indiana Jones Stunt show when we left and thought about going in as Claire has never seen this show. When we got to the entrance we were told the show was full and they couldn’t let anyone else in. Oh well. I hope it stays for a little while longer so I can take her to it someday. There are many rumors floating that it will be closing. Also in case you haven’t heard, the rumor is Hollywood Studios will be changing its name again….yes again. I think I heard the current one rumored is “Disney Adventure”. I am not sure how I feel about that.
We sat down on a ledge and I looked over my app. And surprise surprise, it wasn’t working correctly.
It kept giving me info on Animal Kingdom and I kept switching it back over to Hollywood Studios, but every time I would open it again it would be back to AK. I looked over my FP times again. Hmmm. I thought my Toy Story Mania time was earlier the last time I checked. I swear this is 15 minutes or so later than what I saw earlier today.
Don’t take a picture of me mom!!!
We moved on.
And….the hat is leaving. I am not happy about that either. It really is the park icon to me. The Ear water tower was always a joke to me back in the days before the hat.
The sea of strollers!
We wanted to check things out in the Animation Studio and find out where we could draw a character.
Wreck it Ralph and Vanelope were out, again with a long line.
I couldn’t find where the animation class was, but we found a queue for something. We decided what the heck, let’s get in line.
Minnie Mouse has somewhat recently taken up residence there. Not sure if you ever did get to the animation class but it's on the upper level by the incredibles, kind of the opposite side of Minnie. But Isn't her little room so cute?!

Yes, the Minnie area is new! I love it!!! So cute!
And no................I have NOT heard that they are considering changing the name of DHS again...........seriously? They just need to leave the name alone. I am not thrilled with the hat being removed - I get that change is change, but don't change the name for a third time

Did not know that about DHS getting a new name. I like the thought of seeing the theater, but I do like the hat!
The app was acting up when we were there last week and it actually caused us to miss one of out FP. I knew my time was early and it kept telling me it was later and then all of sudden it had it back to the time I originally thought it was and we had missed it. It was for Star Tours and I never did get another chance to ride it. I should have trusted that what I knew I had booked was correct and just went with it.

We did eventually find it!
Her room is really cute.

Word is it will become Hollywood Adventure...or something along that line. I don't know what they are thinking constantly changing the name. I finally am to the point I don't call it MGM anymore and they want to mess with my head once again.

I am hearing Hollywood Adventure is going to be the new name. I like the hat. I think the tower is not a very good "icon" at all. Maybe move the hat to a different location?

I had a similar issue. I was going to put up a big fuss if they denied me the ride too.
The detail on that model of new Fantasyland is just incredible, isn't it? I wonder how much longer that will be there, now the real thing is completed...
