Another August Adventure with a shot of Testosterone...TR Completed 2/19 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So I figured with tomorrow being Wednesday I would add an extra post tonight regarding dining and then starting tomorrow will do a day of plans each day until we leave.
As usual dining is never easy for us, we have so many places we love it is always so difficult to decide where we want to eat. This year was no exception and in all honestly I cannot even tell you how many changes we have made (up until this past weekend).
For awhile I just gave up on dining and the girls took over, the only way I knew they were making changes were the constant emails that kept coming to my email. After the first few I just stopped looking.
Jasmine loves reading the blogs and decided that we do not enjoy counter service enough, so we added a few more counter service meals to the spreadsheet.
Also after a lot of consideration, we cancelled our Be Our Guest Dinner (I know shocking) and ended up adding the lunch to the plans. The girls enjoyed our dinner there last year but after I raved about my lunch there in October they decided they wanted to try it.
We also ended up cancelling our California Grill dinner, Jasmine just wanted to make this a more laid back trip. While she loves dressing up she did not want to feel we had too in the heat and she knew the boys would be happier (even though they were willing to get dressed up for me). The day we had it planned is one of those...we might do this or we might do that. I was a bit sad as I was looking forward to it but as a consolation she added it to our ADRs for our November trip.
So what did we end up with?
August 7th - Sanaa for lunch (for mom who will visit with Heather). The kids will grab CS at DTD.
August 8th - Crystal Palace for breakfast
August 9th - Tusker House for lunch
August 10th - Coral Reef for lunch
August 11th - 1900 PF for dinner
August 12th - Sci-Fi for lunch (for me, Angel and Alexa) - Mama Melrose for dinner.
August 13th - The Plaza for lunch - The Wave for dinner
August 14th - Teppan Edo for lunch
There you have it....our dining for this August Adventure (this should be the final draft as I doubt I will make any more changes but you never know )
Your dining choices all sound great!!! And I agree about not wanting to dress up in the heat - we ended up taking a taxi for one of our dress up dinners as I didn't want to be a sweaty mess when we got there (Flying Fish).

I would like to invite the girls along on my next trip so they can take care of the dining details! It looks like they've done a great job. While I sometimes prefer an evening ADR, I also see the logic of sticking to breakfast and lunches for your group (and, I see you do have one dinner at 1900PF) Especially in the summer months. There are so many good CS places to sample.
1 week and 1 day - not long before you are on vacation!
Love the descriptions of your cast of characters! AKL/BCV will make for an awesome stay. And all your ADRs are delicious ones. Sanaa is now mine and Luke's favorite WDW restaurant.
Looks delish....I am jealous of Sanaa as that is one place Izzy really doesn't enjoy but I love....hence I think the last time I ate there was with you a few years back!

Some great dining plans even if cancelling BOG! That's awesome that your Mom will have lunch at Sanaa with Heather! I know this is Heather's fave in WDW! We have discussed possibly doing this on a future trip as we both love it!

October 6, 2017-Enjoying an amazing dinner at Victoria & Albert's with PP's Dot and Drew
My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
I had to come looking for this after talking to you today! (which it was great catching up a bit again!) I love that you are introducing more to your love of Disney and it sounds like everyone will get a long great. We love AKL too and BCV will be a nice ending. All the dining looks great as well. Yay for Sanaa with Heather!!!
I miss my Disney dining, considering it is one of the things we have the most fun with in terms of planning

What CS locations are you thinking of?
BOG is one, I raved about my lunch there that I had in October so the girls want to try. Flame Tree is also a favorite for us so we will probably try to find some time to grab a meal there. At Epcot we love Sunshine Seasons and of course snacking around the WS (I love the Cantina in Mexico). Hollywood Studios is the only place I really never enjoy CS in which works well that we have a lunch and a dinner TS on our DHS day.

We thought about the FF when we were at the BC and in the end the girls decided if they feel like dressing up for dinner they will, if not they can just wear their shorts and shirts and they will be more than happy.

You can borrow them anytime
We normally have more dinners, lunches just worked out in the schedule this trip but we have a few dinners, 1900 PF, MM and the Wave so it will be a nice mixture of meals.

They did good...I laugh as our list is totally different than our first batch of ADRs, I am surprised that they got everything as they made changes pretty late in the game. The 1900 PF reservation they just got last week (2 weeks before the trip) and at 5:50 so normal dinner time. I guess patience pays off as I think my daughter was stalking the Disney Dining site.

We have not been there since 2008 for breakfast. I had gotten sick (not the food everything was delicious I think something just did not settle right for me, I am not one to eat breakfast often, think it was just too heavy) so I kind of passed over it for a bit. The girls were excited to get back so we are excited to try lunch.

I love Sanaa, the girls enjoy but they were willing to pass it up this trip so they could all go to DTD and visit DQ and Bongo's take out (their loss...LOL)

We did not make it back there last year , I missed it terribly. The last time I was there was when we had lunch there with Heather.

I love Sanaa, we did not get back there last year and I have missed it. When the kids decided they wanted to head to DQ I messaged Heather, I knew if she was off she would be up for a lunch at Sanaa (even if the kids are deserting me...LOL)

It was so great to catch up today, it has definitely been too long. I am looking forward to Sanaa, I love the food there and it will be nice to catch up with Heather.
So our flight leaves at 7:20 AM so we will leave the house around 5:15 AM. It only takes 15 - 20 minutes to get to JFK from my house at that hour. Normally my dad takes us but since we have 6 of us we would not fit into his car so I called my wonderful brother and said "Don't you want to drive us to the airport?"
He being wonderful and all said "of course"....got to love him, he is giving up an extra 90 minutes of sleep for me. Of course I will owe him big time now....LOL
We arrive at MCO at 9:50 AM, will head over to the DME area and hopefully before long we will be off on our 2nd ride of the trip (as the girls call the MCO monorail their 1st ride).
We will arrive at AKL, check-in, it would be nice if our room was ready but if not no worries. The kids (I keep correcting myself as I keep typing the girls) will head over to DTD as Jasmine knows the boys will love DQ and I will meet up with Heather and enjoy lunch at Sanaa.
After my visit with Heather and the kids fun at DTD we will meet up at some point at Epcot. We have Fast Passes set up for later in the afternoon.
Our Fast Passes for the afternoon are:
Spaceship Earth
Test Track
Mission Space (Angel, Alexa, Hugo and Leeor)
Character Spot (Me and Jasmine)
Mission Space is one of the two rides I do not enjoy, did it once before the green side was developed and no matter how much Angel tells me I would be fine on the green side I just can't get myself to try this attraction out again, so instead I will have some one on one time with Jasmine as we visit with some of our favorite characters.
Dinner will probably be at Sunshine Seasons today (or we will grab something at the World Showcase while we watch Illuminations).
After Illuminations Jasmine, Leeor and Hugo and the After Hours Wind Down booked at the UK, this is up in the air we might actually cancel it this weekend. Jasmine is worried they might just be exhausted after the long day.
So with Alexa, Angel and I, or all of us will then head back to Animal Kingdom and get an early night in so we can have a fresh start tomorrow.
Nothing like hitting the ground running! . Day one looks pretty awesome...fingers crossed you have some pixie dust and the rooms are ready early. We had dinner at Sunshine Seasons in June...this is normally a lunch spot for us but we really enjoyed our meal here. The dining area is much less chaotic than lunch time and it was a delicious but not overly indulgent meal.
Danielle
