A DREAM is a wish your heart makes...Halloween on the High Seas edition - updated 09/14/2014 - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

How adorable is this picture? Mr. Cool living the life - I LOVE IT! Sounds like a great time was had at the pool. Poor Hope on the Mickey slide. At least you were there to come to her rescue!

GREAT afternoon at the pool! You got some great pics on the Aquaduck, love them. Chris was in charge of the waterproof camera on our trip, but the CMs always made him put the camera away, so no pictures of his rides for us
Oh, and this pic is making me miss that boat so much, with our room right on the other side of that wall
I wonder why the camera had to put away? No one said anything to me about it.
I know - these pictures bring it all back don't they?!

Bummer! I'm not sure why I was allowed the camera and others weren't. I had mine strapped to my wrist and never tried to hide it.

I wonder why the camera had to put away? No one said anything to me about it.
I wonder if they changed the rules? Chris took the camera out to take a pic of the girls before they rode, and he said that the CM was kind of rude telling him that he couldn't ride if he had the camera out. Good thing he had a pocket

Maybe. Someone else said they weren't allowed either. A lady a few in front of me had one of those huge disposable waterproof cameras and I don't think anything was said to her either. I guess it's a good change though - I'm sure you have to keep it attached to you as I would think they don't want it going down by itself. Crazy how so many things changed in just a few months time.
I'm all caught up - what a great afternoon at the pool. Aqua Duck looks like so much fun! I've never been to Nassau, but I haven't heard many (if any) appealing things about the port. I like your touring style of getting off the boat, quick explore and get back on.

for Mike
That style in Nassau really worked well. And thank you for the pixies!

Thought I'd share an update on Mike. He had an intervview last night, one in a few minutes and one tomorrow morning. The one from last night he has a follow-up one-on-one interview Tuesday night now. Tomorrow's interview is for part time at the Disney store. Thankful the calls are coming in now! Hope it turns into the right job.

I started getting ready before Mike got back as the boys were still sleeping and then I think they slowly started waking up so I got them dressed as well. Finally Mike made it back and he readied himself. Tonight was party night and while next time I fully intend to go all out tonight we just made do with stuff from home, but still festive of course. The plan was to meet Melissa & fam for the first pirate deck party. I believe we went to the show and made a quick stop to take pictures with the backdrop and we barely made it to the party, but we did! We weaved our way through that crowd (I could see Melissa and knew where she was – smack dab in the middle right up front) and I told the boys to squeeze in as there was no way Mike & I would be fitting as well. So we hung back and watched, but were still close. This was where Mickey taught us how to be pirates and it was SO cute. They’d show the crowd on the big screen and every time I could see Hope & Dylan standing up shaking their booties. They had such a great time! Thanks Melissa for saving them spots!
there's Hope standing up
Next it was dinner time, we were back in Royal Palace. It seemed strange dressed as pirates in this fancy restaurant but I was glad to be back here and not Enchanted Garden. Next time I want to try AA! All the kids sat on one side of the table again with Hope in the middle because both the boys wanted to sit by her. J Mike was the only one to drink tonight I believe and he had the Pirate’s Nest – sparkling sweet wine, Malibu Rum, & Apple Pucker. Sounds gross to me. He started with the pot stickers then had the conch chowder. I started with the crab cake followed by Mr. Smee’s Bibb Lettuce Salad; seemed fitting since I was Mr. Smee yesterday. I believe we both had the Mahi Mahi and the Rum Soaked Chocolate cake for dessert seeing as those are the only pictures I have of entrees & dessert. Dylan had a corndog and maybe Lukas did too as I only have a picture of one kid’s meal too. I know they had Mickey Bars for dessert.

Mr. Smee's Bibb salad - had a raspberry vinegarette

After dinner it was time for the main pirate party followed by the fireworks. I believe it was Alberto (our server) who recommended going towards the back on deck 12, so we fought (literally) our way there and claimed a spot along the upper rail. This pirate show was live pirates, no characters except for Cap’n Jack. It was a little darker, but still family friendly. It was nice that the shows were different so we weren’t seeing the same thing again.
blurry - but gives you the idea of where we were standing
Cap'n Jack!
thought this was neat with the moon
Then right after the show the fireworks started. And we had a great location. The only thing in the way was the aquaduck, but you can’t really avoid it no matter where you are. The fireworks were straight out in front of us just perfect! It was amazing to see them at sea and just so magical!
After the fireworks it was dance party time and as most of you know already the kids – young & old(er) had a blast! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
they were doing some dance here - Melissa? this wasn't the wobble as that was down on the pool deck
love this action shot of Hope
Gangnam style
all three!
crazy man
Melissa doing the wobble
and then yelling at me for not coming out with her
We went in search of the buffet but never really found what we were looking for. We just ended up going to Cabana’s and finding something sweet there. Melissa & fam left us here to go watch some of POTC on the big screen, but this family was beat and we hit the sack.
When we were back in the room we noticed lights outside and thought that was a bit strange. Sure enough we saw Nassau coming back into view. Instead of backing in, we pulled straight in so we got to see the opposite side than we had when we were here earlier today. Immediately we noticed an ambulance on the dock and I must have missed when they took the person off the ship because all I saw was the stretcher go back on the boat and the ambulance pull away. Soon we pulled away as well. We found out later a guest had to be medically evacuated, but that’s all the information we received. After that I was even more tired and hit the sack.
you can see that we left Nassau and was about halfway to CC when we turned back
