Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I can't believe the colour of those clouds - so threatening and I'm not surprised they let rip while you were there, as it looked as if they were going to any moment.

Enjoying your review! You guys really did make the best of your day at Castaway Cay. We always go on cruises knowing the weather may not cooperate...going in with that mindset certainly helps with enjoying every aspect.

Those kids are hardy souls! The sand turtle is so creative. Love the little bird, which I think is a Sanderling? The beak and feet are not right for a gull.

Thanks, Lisa. You must have posted your first reply while I was updating - we are happy Lou is doing so well - not bad for 68! We would have preferred sun, but glad they all had a good time.

We were just lucky it didn't rain a lot harder and a lot more.

I knew we were at risk scheduling for January, but it all turned out well.

They live just a short distance from the beach in Corona Del Mar, but love the warmer water on the East Coast. I was instructed to get a photo of the turtle . I think you are right on the bird, the CM was convinced they were baby gulls. I should have looked at the feet when I was trying to identify them. Anyway, I knew you'd like the almost round bird.

Jan 7, 2014: Day 3, Part 2: Filling our Evening after a Day at the Beach

This update will be a little shorter than the last two. We all met at 4:30pm in the Concierge Lounge for a visit from a special guest. We didn't know who it would be - there were rumors it might be Stitch. This Meet & Greet is usually held on the sun deck, but the weather brought it downstairs inside.

The girls were ready - obviously one was hoping for Stitch:

Our surprise turned out to be none other than Captain Mickey himself. Not Stitch, but still good. Mickey was in a good mood, and did lots of poses with the girls, then he insisted on getting a group shot:

After fun with Captain Mickey, the girls went off with their Dad to another early dinner - tonight was Pirate Night. They preferred to put their dresses on for dinner instead of a pirate outfit, so who were we to argue.

The rest of us had a reservation at Remy. On the way there, the girls (the older ones) posed for a photo in front of the Christmas Decorations which were still up:

They made me retake the shot, because they forgot to do their proper "model" pose ...

We had a very nice dinner at Remy. I'm in the minority, but it's not my favorite - even though the food is good and the experience is top notch - I just prefer simpler fare.

We did have a very nice table by the window, and never felt rushed at all during our meal - and neither did we wait too long between courses.

We finished up shortly before fireworks were to go off. As we left the restaurant, it seemed unlikely we would be seeing sparklers tonight - it was very windy and still raining off and on. In fact, there was not much action on deck at all, and I think they moved the party inside, but I forgot to check.

Once again, we tried to talk ourselves into stopping by the Skyline Lounge, but agreed we were all tired after a fun day at the beach and a 3 hour dinner.

Up Next; A Day at Sea - Will we be Rocking & Rolling?

How cool that you got to meet with Captain Mickey! I'm with you about Remy - I have to say I much prefer Palo to Remy and we've eaten in Remy a couple of times now.

I love Mickey in his Captain mode. "Mickey was in a good mood."

I've never seen Remy except in photos, but I even like the look of Palo better. If I ever sail on the new ships I'll probably try Remy once, but it's hard to imagine any place pleasing me the way Palo does.

Captain Mickey! How awesome! We had Stitch at our concierge party (I was disappointed at first, but he was totally cool and made me like him by the end of the soiree).

I'm with you...Remy just does not appeal to me in the slightest. In fact, we had a V&A (Queen Victoria room, no less) reservation for our 10th anniversary that we ended up canceling. It just wasn't something I had a need to experience. Palo though? I am so there!

It's funny - they are strictly t-shirts and shorts at home.

Remy is definitely worth trying at least once.

No regrets about Remy, but not sure I would sign up for it again.

Palo always pleases, that's for sure.

We enjoyed V&A's years ago, but it's something I would save for a really special occasion. Stitch is the favorite, so he would have been a big hit.
