As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Motrin works best for my DD. She got her at WDW the day before her 11th birthday. The hardest thing is not being able to go swimming when AF (Aunt Flo) is visiting.
Abby didn't get hers at the beginning of school but her first one was at Christmas time when she was 10. Once in a while she'll say she has really bad cramps and I'll give her Tylenol for it (at the moment, she still uses chewables) but other than that, with the way she acts, you would never know Abby even gets it. Of course too for Abby, I had gotten her that American Girl book (I forget the name of it) and she read it over and over and over so she knew that it wasn't something that was only happening to her. When it finally did happen, I expected an over the top unreasonable reaction to it but what I ended up getting was a "it happened, it's no big deal" reaction instead. Go figure - and she still acts that way about it for the most part. Abby started the day before we went on vacation and that created more of a reaction then when it originally started.
My 12yo started last year. She says she hates it( who doesn't) but she hardly ever says anything about it now. Just waiting for my other daughter(11) to start all of that. Nothing like having 3 ladies PMSing in the house. LOL

I come from a family of late starters and my Dd was well into high school before faced with puberty. I really feel badly when I see how much earlier girls are menstruating these days. some of them just seem too young to me.
Good luck to the OP's DD and all the other teens. If I remember, my late start of menopause was related to my overall late start, so I guess we pay at one end or the other.

did she not know this was going to happen to her. tell her this is apart of growing up and one day she will be glad she got it when she holds her baby for the first time. tell her if she cant talk to you about it to go to the school nurse. they have several good websites about getting it for the first time they also have some stuff about it on youtub tell her to make sure she has stuff for it in her school bag or locker because it can sneak up on you and come in the middle of the school day.

Poor thing. I was 9 when I started for the first time so I had not had any sort of conversation with my mum about it yet. I was sleeping over at my cousins and it happened in the night. Every month I think should I not try to hide it so much from my 7 year old in case she is the same and gets it early
She was doing much better on day 2 although still wishing it away, lol. To answer all the questions: Yes, she knew what it was all about as we've had many discussions about that and everything else related to her body. I was a Health teacher before she was born so discussing these topics is not uncomfortable for me. But like another person said it doesn't matter how much we talked about it when it happened it still scared the bejesus out of her. She's been taking Tylenol for the back pain and that seems to be doing the trick . We went shopping together to pick out things she would need and got her all set up. We even picked out a wristlet she will bring to school and she's going to start walking around with it daily so when the next time comes there won't be questions from friends. Thanks for all the pixies, even though I knew it was coming it was tough to see my girl move to the next phase. I should also note that DD had multiple surgeries as a baby/toddler on her kidneys and bladder with all sorts of x-rays and nuclear tests done on that region. I always wondered if it was doing any damage to her reproductive system. I was able to breathe a little
In addition to the wristlet, a lot of the girls here use their pencil bags in their binders for supplies. They just bring the teacher their notebook with their agendas for us to sign a pass and no one thinks anything other than they are taking the binder to the litterbox with them.

This is true. It works the same as the heart. You will have so many monthlies, and if you started later, menopause will come later, if you start early menopause will come earlier. Of course, we are speaking of menopause in a natural way.

This is what I plan to do kind of with my DD. Somewhere on some movie or tv show one time, I saw where a mom had "Women's Day". Which basically meant when her DD started, a day was taken from school and spent doing special "womens things"....like shopping, spa, manicures/pedicures, lunch. A special day to celebrate being a woman.

Glad she is doing better! She'll get the hang of it soon! I'm sure she'll still hate it like most ladies do, but she'll get used to it! LOL
DD is 12 and while she hasn't gotten "it" yet, I know it's coming soon. I was barely 13 when I started so, since it is mostly hereditary, we should be going through the same thing in the next 6 months or so w/ DD. DH says he is overwhelmed by the "head butting hormones" in the house sometimes and that he's thankful that we have DS on his side so he isn't outnumbered by hormonal women. To quote him "For God's sake, if you guys are like this when she's 12 and doesn't even have 'THAT' yet . . . what is it gonna be like when she's 16?!?!"
