Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Glad the MRI turned out normal but how frustrating to have unexplained pain.

Diet might be a good place to look. A visit to a chiropractor may be another thing to try. I do get headaches when my neck is out of whack and an adjustment helps.

I hope this gets resolved soon!

DD leaves for college next Wednesday. It's going to be hard to have anyone do any checking on new ideas for causes. I may have her go to student health and start working with someone there. What do you think?

I'm loving that you are all coming up with other things to try checking on.

The neurologist had told us that her case seemed strange. Her symptoms don't really fit with it being a migraine. And all the things we've tried that should work for migraines haven't really done much. There was a pain med he gave her that worked for a couple hours but she can't take it very often.

I'll call her dentist today and talk to her. She was just there for an appointment this summer and had a filling a couple weeks ago. They didn't see anything off at the time, I'm guessing. But we didn't ask her about headaches either.

I think you're on the right track. I think talking to student health is also a good idea. It'll sort of put them on notice about her problem. See if they can help her start up with a nutritionist. I'd start there. Hard to do as a new freshman for sure. But I think maybe starting by cutting out gluten for a couple of months would be a good idea. You can see if you get any relief there. Also limiting artificially sweetened drinks is a good idea too. Good luck. I know this is hard along with the stress of going off to college. (remind her that beer has gluten in it. )

Glad the MRI was clean but bummer about not having answers, especially for such a young "kid". I would do what's been suggested - dentist, food allergies, vitamin levels, etc. I wish you both luck

Trying to isolate any foodstuffs that may be the cause would be a real beast to do with all the adjustments of starting a college year even if it's a return to another year of college.

Cutting artificial sweeteners like aspartame out of her diet would be easiest, I know from experience of going gluten-free. G-F is particularly difficult to do since so many seasonings and processed foods contain gluten, not to mention that a person must learn to read labels and cook from scratch for the most part. A college student hardly has time to do all that!

I hope student health at her school is far better than it was when I was an undergrad! Not to mention that M.D.'s other than allergists really don't know much at all about how much food allergies and intolerances can affect people.

But, I agree that gluten could easily be the culprit as could aspartame. I hope your DD ultimately finds relief.

Did the MRI look at her sinus cavities at all? Just curious if they looked at everything that could be causing the headaches. Before my sinus surgery, I had a ct scan of my sinuses.

Does she eat a lot of sodium based food, or items with nitrates in them? A coworker of mine has issues with those items -- she gets migraines. Also, there are several different kinds of migraines -- that have other and\or different symptoms than just a severe headache.

I was wondering the same thing. When they did my scan for headaches the neurologist said that she thought she maybe saw something funny with my sinuses, but they weren't specifically scanning for that so I had to go to an ENT to have another scan done. Not saying it is sinus related, but better to test as much as possible since you're really at a loss.

Looks like I am joining late but here's hoping the mystery is solved.
I hope you figure out the problem. Sometimes when I can't figure out if I have a sinus headache or a migraine-rather than taking meds for both or either, I put vick's vapor rub on the back of my neck and that helps. Although you said her headaches were in the front of her forehead-don't put the vick's vapor rub there-I learned the hard way that when I wipe the hair out of my eyes I end up getting it into my eyes and that is yucky. Continued good luck and good luck with college.
I do remember one time I had to take off an entire college semester because I was still so sick from my migraines-here's hopin that doesn't happen, but I think I did turn out ok ;-)

No, we don't have a solution. She is still having headaches. She is now at school and trying to keep up with the meds, that she at first thought might be doing some good (less often and less pain), but now she's not so sure. She tried to see a doctor at school and that was a bust. He told her to see her own gp and the neurologist and had very bad 'bedside' manner. She basically was told to see him so that she could get a referal to a nutritionist on campus. Hopefully she'll start working with her soon. We're at the point where we're thinking food allergies or something along that lines, since they can't find anything physically wrong with her.

So, did you know that it cost about $2000 for an MRI of the full brain. And that it costs nearly $500 to read it? Luckily we have pretty good insurance for the kids and our out of pocket was about $300.

So, she had a good week a couple weeks ago, with few headaches. Not sure how it's been since then.

Got a call today from the Neurologist. Her next appt is for Friday Oct 25. Turns out they wanted to cancel it because he no longer works on Fridays. Friday also happens to be the only day that she can go to appointments due to her class schedule. ACK. We made an appointment with his nurse practitioner, but she's not available until Nov 22. I'm thinking of seeing if another office can see her. Would she be able to get all her records and MRIs sent to a new place do you think?
