As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

She had a ct scan and they found that the cancer in her stomach is gone. In a few more weeks, she'll have a pet scan to check on the tumors in her legs.
I have goosebumps as I write this ....
Of course, with good news, there's bad. And when it rains, it pours. The other night I noticed a spot on our 1st floor ceiling. Much like a water spot. Except there is no bathroom or laundry room right above that spot and no water pipes. It is, what we assume is the piping for our dryer vent (our laundry room is in the front/center of the house, and vents out to the side of our house) and this spot happens to be in the location we would assume has the piping to the vent. We are now worried that there is a disconnect in the piping and is somehow causing condensation to puddle and leave the mark on the ceiling. I haven't a clue where to start with that....
And then, my daughter's iPod stopped taking a charge. We also couldn't get it to be read on the computer. We tried different cords. Nothing. Tried my son's with the cords and everything was fine. Took it in to the Apple store and they take one look and say .... yeah, the teeth/prong things inside where you connect the cord --- bent/broken. Of course that isn't something that can be fixed. So, we had to pay $100 and have the entire iPod replaced.
Then yesterday there was a noise as we closed our overhead garage door. Looked, and a spring broke. The garage still opens and closes -- it's some other kind of spring, so no idea what it's purpose really is. For now we are kind of not worrying about it because the door is still opening and closing.
And then today, 3 lights came on in my car. The brake light, the ABS light and the ESC light. Take it in to the dealership to have them look at it, and we need a new ABS module. To the tune of $2300. I almost fell over. They asked if we wanted to think it over because it's expensive, and he said, if the car slides you just need to do the old fashioned pumping of the brake. Not to mention, the part is not in stock so it's not like we could have had it fixed right away anyway.
I'm to the point that I almost feel like throwing my hands in the air and saying "I give up!". Because it seems that no matter what we do, we can never get ahead. It's really frustrating and makes me question why I try so hard, why I care about things, when it feels like the universe is just out to get us anyway.
In a couple more weeks, I'll have been unemployed for 2 months now, and I've had a few calls, a couple interviews and nothing has panned out.
If things keep progressing on this track, I may have to give up the only thing that is keeping me together ..... the Disney trip. And that thought depresses me even more than I already am.

My friend "C" is still recovering from her head injury. Apparently she's got a long road of recovery ahead of her.
My friend "M" ended up in surgery earlier than planned as the hernia ended up strangulated after a bout with the stomach flu. She is back at home and healing.
My friend "S" had a full PET scan today. There are only 3 small spots of cancer in her leg -- everywhere else is all clear (it had started in the toe, moved to the leg (8 spots) and then up to the abdomen). She has some more treatments to go thru that they are confident will get rid of the few spots remaining.
I am rejoicing.
As for me, I interviewed last Friday and REALLY hope I got the job, but am waiting to hear (they said it could be a couple weeks). On the 14th of this month, I did come down with a cold and I was forced to go to urgent care on Friday because both my ears clogged up and one of them hurt and had a lot of pressure in it. Fluid in one ear, an infection in the other. So, I'm on an antibiotic and a decongestant. The pain/pressure is better, but the ears are still clogged. One of my ears I do have issues with where it clogs, and I had been seeing an ENT. In the past I was put on steroids to help it. Without insurance, a visit to the ENT isn't really in the budget, so I'm hoping with time, my ears will go back to normal. If not, I will have to suck it up and go to the ENT. All I know is medical bills will kill us -- the antibiotic alone without insurance was $70. UGGHHHHHH. For 20 GENERIC pills.
So - continued pixies for my friends to continue healing, getting better. As well as for me & my family -- that we can continue to make ends meet and that I get a new job soon.
Glad to hear there has been good news and hope it will continue. Hope you get to be better w/o a ENT visit. Here are continued that you will get good news. We all have had times like this in our lives. I call it my Mack feeling-- run over my a couple ofMack trucks (one each direction) trying to cross the highway(of life). Or sometimes its like being on a merry-go-round where the bully doesn't let you off.
