Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

So sorry you weren't feeling well. At least you didn't actually pass out at Disney - been there, done that one and I don't recommend it!

Glad you got to see the lights and get some great family shots, before not feeling well. I too like the photo of Kaeli covering Duffys eyes.

I can't wait to try some of those beignets!

Hope you feel better tomorrow. I didn't realize it was coming up on your last day.

Thanks, Laurie! Forunately, when I woke up on Saturday all was well again. I'm not sure what made me feel so sick, but I'm glad it didn't really amount to much. It would have been awful to have to fly home if I had some kind of a bug. I love that picture too

Yes, thankfully my feeling sick didn't really interfere with our plans too much, and thankfully I was feeling better before having to fly home the next day!

Oh no! I'm sure that was not a fun moment for you at all. I'm so glad I didn't pass out, as not only would it have ruined our night, I'm sure it would have frightened the girls!

I was feeling lousy, but I wasn't about to let that ruin our last night I'm glad I was able to muddle through!

It was funny, because when the photographer told the girls to cover their eyes, Kaeli said, "i'm going to cover Duffy's too. He doesn't want to see that either!!"

Those beignets are yummy, just get lots of napkins

We've still got one more full day to go, we didn't leave until 9 pm on Saturday Thankfully, I was feeling better and able to enjoy that last day!

It's really not fun Thankfully it didn't really amount to anything, it would have been really disappointing to miss out on things because I had come down with some bug.

Our Last Day

Saturday, November 10 - Part 1

This morning I woke up around 8, thankfully feeling much better than I had the night before. Everyone else was up shortly after me and we took turns showering, dressing and finishing up our packing. When the girls were done getting dressed, we headed over to Riverside Mill for some breakfast. Chris decided to stay behind to finish up the packing since he wanted to just have some cereal for breakfast anyway. We still had a CS credit left since I didn’t eat dinner the night before, so the girls and I used that and some snack credits to get a Mickey Waffle with fruit & bacon, eggs and a cinnamon roll for us to share.

After our yummy breakfast, the girls and I headed back to our room to find Chris all done with our packing. We headed out to RAC around 10:45 and found quite a long line ahead of us. Chris got on that line, while I took our carryon bags over to Bell Services. Though the line was long, it didn’t take us long to get checked in for our flight, and with perfect timing a bus for DTD pulled up just as we were done. We got off at the PI stop shortly after noon and it was packed , I had forgotten that this weekend was the Festival of the Masters. There were tons of booths set up which were showcasing the work of various artists, and there were lots of people around to explore these booths. We headed straight to Disney Quest, since we had some time to kill before our lunch at TRex that afternoon. Despite the large crowds outside, DQ was pretty quiet.

Around 1:30 we headed towards TRex, the girls were really looking forward to this meal. They love the Rainforest Café, and we are lucky enough to have one at our local mall that we visit quite often. Because they are owned by the same company, we were able to use the rewards we had accrued at RC for our lunch at TRex today.

When we got to the restaurant there was a huge line and crowd of people out front , I figured we were in for a long wait even with our ADR. We took the girls over to the dig site so that they could play while we waited, but they didn’t get to play for long. Before we knew it, we were being called to our table which was in the “fire” room, but right on the edge where we could overlook the “ice”room.

The views from our table

We were seated right below this Mama

And her baby

Here’s a quick video of her coming to life, the girls thought it was pretty cool.

It took a little while for our server to make our way to our table, but once she did we had no other problems with her. She brought out both the chef and manager to help us navigate the menu with Kaeli’s allergy and they were a great help. Even though TRex is not an official Disney restaurant, they do take the same care when it comes to dealing with special dietary requests as Disney does.

We started with some drinks, Chris got a Corona and I had a Blue Moon, we let the girls get Icees, which I didn’t realize were going to come in these huge plastic cups.

I must have looked thirsty because they brought out my beer in this giant fishbowl.

Instead of entrees, Chris and I decided to split the appetizer sampler that they had to offer. It was full of bruschetta, onion rings, BBQ ribs, chips with queso and quesadillas, more than plenty of food for the two of us to share. It was all really good, and we were quite full when we were done with it. I think both girls had corn dogs, which they loved as well. Sorry, though, I didn’t get any pics of our meals. I did manage some pics of dessert though!

The kid’s Chocolate “Tarpit”

For the grownups, donut holes with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces.

Meteor shower!!!!

We enjoyed our lunch at TRex quite a bit. While I’ll admit that the food is really nothing special, just typical chain restaurant type stuff, the atmosphere and theming inside of the restaurant makes up for that. My girls really had fun with it, and they are not big into dinos. I’m pretty sure that some little boys who live for everything dinosaur would absolutely love seeing all of the animatronics they have inside. They are pretty cool , especially when they come to life. After we settled our bill, we headed out towards the Marketplace, we had some shopping to do!

UP NEXT: Time To Say Goodbye

Love the pics and video at T-Rex! We have wanted to get there but it just hasn't happened yet. We love Rainforest Cafe though! Not the food so much, just the atmosphere. Love the Mickey waffle! Not that I'm partial or anything lol!

Looks like a great day! Glad you woke feeling better!
We have done T-Rex before and enjoyed it - although once we sat in the ice room - and it really was cold in there!
