As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

DTD sure was empty! Yummy meal! About the Disney ponchos, we found the same thing. We bought them because we were there in June and it rains every day in June, right? So we got them on the first day and it didn't rain until the last day we were there. We didn't need the ponchos then because we were just getting on the DME! Lol about yelling at them in Spanish! Love it!

What is lip scrub that you said you got at Basin? Sounds intriguing....
On yelling at the tour group in Spanish! (I'm assuming they weren't actually Brazillian, since they wouldn't have understood that any better than English. )

Must have been another annoying TG. Can't blame the BTG on this one if they were Spanish-speaking! It's great you were able to shock them into reality, though!
Glad you stood up for yourself. Maui Jim's are a good choice - well made and they come with a very good warrantee as well.
Yeah, that's what the sales lady said. I like the fact that they are warranted because it's not the cheap glasses that will break, it's always the expensive ones.

I don't think I've ever seen Downtown Disney that deserted, what a treat.
It was a treat!

Yep - we made that Rule #1 - Buy a Disney poncho and it WILL stop raining.

I have the same problem with DH getting him to buy anything for himself.
I'd have to look up that phrase! I just said "This is my husband's spot"

Yeah - if it were a BTG it would be Portuguese. But it was a big group of Spanish speaking people. I didn't bother asking where they were from. I just didn't want them on my husband's poncho! LOL. The lip scrub is from Basin and it's a sugar/flavored mixture in a little container. You scrub it on and can lick it off and it leaves your lips very soft. I got that and a lip balm in "Sangria" Yum!

They were shocked. When I told Chuck when he got back - he just told me to be nice.

Yeah, like I said, they were probably not Brazilian. Otherwise it would be Portuguese they would be speaking. But they were Hispanic and understood me. I just wanted them to stop - and they did.

I was up early - 8ish and had my tea on the balcony while I waited for Chuck to get up. After Chuck got up and had his coffee, we had our showers and were off to Epcot. We debated on bringing our ponchos but decided not to because we didn’t want to carry them or bring the backpack. We went to Soarin’ first so Chuck could ride or get a FP. I have officially sworn off this ride - it makes me feel bad. I love the smells but I can’t get over the dizzying feelings of the visuals. Anyhow, we went to the FP machines and were trying to calculate return times when a couple came up to us and said “Are there two of you?” We said yes and they said “Here. Have our FP’s we aren’t going to use them” They gave them to us and left. The return time - NOW!
So Chuck had a walk on to Soarin. And if he was back before the return time, I was going to send him back with the second ticket. Well, he was about 5 mins too late but he said it was fine, he had a good ride over California. After Soarin, we did LWTL - which I love!
Hidden Mickey!
Someday, I plan on doing Behind the Seeds tour. Then we walked over and did Nemo
but then had to work our way over toward France. Between 10 am and noon we had counted at least 10 kid meltdowns that we had passed! While on our way to France, it looked like it was going to start raining but we made it there before anything happened.
Ominous clouds! But I love this fountain!
Warning - FOOD PORN
We got in to Le Chefs and were seated by the window. Where we could see the rain!
The carts vendors were covering up their kiosks and there were people either running for cover or celebrating and splashing in the puddles! Chuck and I had a great lunch.
Chuck deciding what he wants for lunch.
I was so happy that they had caffeine free Coke! I can’t find it at very many places. Apps included a cheese plate for Chuck. He gave me a taste and it was yummy! The French know their cheese.
I had the prefixe menu - French onion soup for an app.
Entrée was salmon for Chuck (soft food)
and Croque Mossieur for me.
Chuck had crème brulee
and I had profiteroles.
It was all very yummy. During the meal, they brought around Remy.
His handler Armand was funny
and Remy was so cute! I was glad we switched our ADR so we could see him though.
After we paid the bill, we went over to the France gift shop because it was still raining and us without our ponchos - we bought new ones. (second of the trip) I also bought a new wooden spoon. Almost got a new apron too but no. I had some restraint. We donned the ponchos and set out to explore the world.
I was getting "artsy" with my photos.
Japan:
We walked over toward America and the rain had stopped.
Morocco:
See Rule #1 - buy poncho- rain stops. Off with the ponchos. Kept going to Germany.
But still cloudy.
Chuck got a soccer shirt and a giant Toblerone. We didn’t get any more caramels due to Chuck’s teeth. Then went over to the Outpost. We bought Beads for Life. Chuck got 3 bead necklaces and I got 2 pair of earrings. They are just beautiful and love that they are recycled and support the women that make them. Also, they were packed in maps instead of bags! We walked over to Mexico and I got a margarita.
We also ordered rings from the ring carver. Silver ones - Chuck’s ring has my intials and my ring has his. This was Chuck’s idea - I love that man! Leaving Mexico, it was raining but we had ponchos and we were on a mission to find the survey marker. We found it while I polished off my drink and took our Chaco’s pictures with the marker. (the website where we got our sandals has a gallery for all Chacos wearers to submit pics of their Chacos. We wanted ours at Disney!)
We then made our way to FW and went to ride Spaceship Earth.
We couldn’t email it to ourselves because some kid was playing with the only available computer. Dad who didn’t speak English and doesn’t know anything about social grace was letting his 2 year old just press buttons. By the time one became available, our pictures were gone. Grrrr.
We made our way back to the resort after that and went swimming in the rain. We had some hot tub time and naps too. Then got ready for dinner.
Back to Epcot for LeCellier.
Before our dinner, we went over to the ring carver and picked up our rings.
Then came back to LeCellier and still had to wait about 20 mins for our table. I had a nice Cabernet Sauvignon. Apps included cheese soup for me with pretzel bread and a scallops for Chuck. He also wanted a cheese plate so we shared that.
I had the filet with mushroom risotto and Chuck had an enormously huge ribeye.
After all this indulgence, I had the cheesecake and Chuck had the trio of chocolate.
(I wanted to try the chocolate, but one of them had espresso - I can’t have caffeine). It was a fine meal but I really don’t think it was worth a 2 TS. 1st, when serving the wine, the server just poured a full glass. He poured it like he was pouring a glass of iced tea! Didn’t allow it to breathe or let me taste. It could have been corked for all I know! And obviously, he wouldn’t know either because he wasn’t a sommelier to be sure. Now, I’m really not a snob but I think if you are paying 2 TS prices, you should get 2 TS service. That is all. We paid the bill and made our way, slowly back to the buses. At first we were debating on whether to go out the IG and take a bus from BC to DTD and transfer to OKW or just go out front and get on a bus directly. The reason for the debate was because Illuminations was just ending - oye the masses! Why is it that we were always finishing our meals when the fireworks display was getting out? Anyhow, we decided to go to the front and deal with the crowds. We kind of moseyed and took our time. We did go to MouseGear to get my bead for my bracelet for this trip then we went to the bus and didn’t have to wait too long before we made it back to OKW. I got more artsy with pics on the way back to the room.
I like your rings! I have been thinking about getting myself one since I have seen the ones Kelly (OhToodles) got. Great idea Chuck!
Sorry about LC, I have never been for dinner, bc I always want the burger.
Glad getting out of there wasn't bad. I HATE Epcot at closing time more than any other park. Idk why but it always seems SO much more crowded to me.
What flavor margarita was that? I am planning a margarita, but I am unsure of where from. I have heard Mexico is yummy, but have heard that Italy is yummy too. Then of course, there is always DHS. I heard they have margaritas there too, and I don't have a drink planned yet for there, while I already have 2 planned in Epcot....maybe 3.
I think whatever choice I make, I want to go with the straight up plain margarita. I love the sourness of them.

What a great way to start the day-- ripe fastpasses! More great food. I agree with you about Le Cellier. A signature restaurant should have service to match. So far, the reviews here since it went to signature haven't been great. Love the rings!
I love your relaxing days! I can't wait for our trip so I can relax... Who am I kidding?! As soon as I check in I turn into Frenetic Franny!
The food porn is all good baby...
