Rain, Sunshine & Cupcakes ~ June 24 - July 3 - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

For GMR I have heard that when it is not busy, they only run 1 vehicle and that it will always stop at the gangster scene, but if it's busy enough to run two vehicles, the one in the front will get the western shoot out. We've actually been in the front vehicle the last two times and got the shoot out, so it seems this theory is true.
So, if you see two vehicles, ask to ride in the front one for the western scene.
I love your pictures around POR! It's such a beautiful resort! And your turkey dinner looked
I can't believe this trip is almost over! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun at DHS, and I love their painted faces. As for Arben trying to get coffee by himself, the poor guy already got caught rubbing some strange kids head, and then you were going to let him go and try to buy coffee even though he can't speak english? Very mean. BTW, my mom bought Hope that castle for Christmas last year.
What a great day! The boys look so cute with their faces painted. And I adore that picture of Adriel and Jake! Adriel looks so happy! I notice he shaved after you ate. Sorry this is coming to an end.

AWWWW...........bummer - that is one of my favorite times to visit! We are already planning our next trip around it for 2013! Although, we usually avoid a park during the day time, and only go for fireworks -so we avoid most of the craziness!
I've heard the fireworks are awesome but I just can't picture myself in the middle of the huge crowd.

It's funny because we almost always get the cowboy scene on GMR. Someone told me that when you get to the front of the queue, you can tell the CM that you want whichever scene you prefer and they can hold you aside for the next vehicle if the current one isn't the one you want. I've never tried it, though.
I think I'm going to ask next time as I realyy want to get that cowboy scene.

Oh snap, they were running two vehicles that day and we got the back one. But now I know better. Thanks for that piece of valuable information!

I think he'd be able to say the word coffee but then if the CM started talking back that'd be the end.
Ooh, lucky Hope! I'm not jealous at all.

I thought no one would notice. But yes, he did shave after his lunch. He looked 10 years younger.

We felt the same way about H&V...food was okay, but the characters were truly worth it! We were able to get the Cowboy scene and thinking back on it, we were in the front car.
Great way to end your vacation - I always have to travel home with mostly clean clothes too! Love the pictures of the pool

Good to know about H & V. What a fun day at DHS. Your pics of POR are wonderful, and making me a little homesick. We'll be there in June. I can't believe your trip is almost over!

The alarm went off at 9. I made Arben get up first. He showered and got ready then the rest of us got up and ready. We checked the room and finished packing. There was a knock on the door, it was the mouskeeper to put a metal thingy on the door. I discovered the airline check-in papers hanging on the door but Arben’s was missing.
I called bell services to come pick up our luggage. He arrived after only 5 minutes and offered us a ride to the front of the resort. After one last look at the room we were out of there at 10:40. I checked the luggage (luckily nothing was overweight) and got Arben’s boarding pass. We stored our carry-ons and went to the lobby. My express check-out papers did not include my invoice so I had to take care if that. After printing it out, we sat and relaxed at the lounge for a while.
Remember in my PTR, I had a dilemma about adding an extra park day or not. Well we decided not to go to a park on this last day. We thought it’d be too much of a hassle. So at 12 we headed to DTD.
We browsed around some stores until it was time for our adr at T-Rex. I checked us in and we were seated at the Ice Age section. It was very cold in here. The restaurant was very beautiful but very loud.
Arben ordered the Bronto Burger
AJ and I both got the Mega Mes-o- Bones
Abniel got the Jurassic Chicken Tidbits
Adriel got the Mini Mes-o-Bones
For dessert:
Arben got the Ice Age Indulgence
AJ and I shared the Meteor Bites
Abniel had the Chocolate Tarpit
Adriel had the Saber Tooth Sundae
The food was really good and the portions were huge. The kids enjoyed browsing through the different sections.
