As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Another great day! Looks like you guys had lots of fun despite the intermittent rain. Can't wait for the next update as I'm looking forward to seeing the boys pirate transformation and the newly made t-shirts! (hmmm, may have to add the make-your-own-t-shirt to our list of things before my boys do the pirates league for the 1st time!)
Spent the day pretending to work, but really just reading this entire thread! Your family trips are always my favorite to read. Your family seems so awesome, and I can just feel how much you all love each other! The boys are getting so big! And why does your DSIL always hide behind people in your pictures? She is so pretty! You have the coolest parents around, and I am SOOO glad they are getting so much attention and Disney magic!

Wow - some serious ride time! Good eats and good times... I'm not going to be a geek and post the real name of the speeder bike so don't worry
I hope they like their shirts - our boys got them last time and wished they would've gotten a size bigger. They ordered the right size, but they were small...
Love Daniel's expression & how you aren't looking at each other in the video
You're making think about making a reservation in Japan for me next trip.
So nice of the CM's to sing to your parents but what is the girl holding on to ???
That was a tambourine-kinda instrument.

That's Isaiah all right!

Great dinner at Teppan Edo! Glad everyone enjoyed the food. We ate there on our trip and loved it. Even my picky little eater ate almost all his food.
I tried to stay away from Noah in pictures so it wasn't so obvious he's taller than I am. It won't be long before I'm the shortest one.

I'm so sorry we didn't get a chance to actually meet. But glad I could help with the weather!

Love all of the photos, and the SE video. It sounds like it was a really great day, and let me just tell you, I'm so glad I've already got plans to get Chinese food for dinner, because your dinner photos made me really crave rice!!!
Isi and Meri together? They could probably power cities with their enthusiasm like Monsters Inc or something.

There's no way to convince DSIL to take more pictures. We've tried!

A speeder bike? Hmm! It doesn't seem like a Star Wars-y enough name. And the CMs in the store made sure to show us sample shirts because I guess a lot of people complained they were small.

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
I was up early, but our breakfast ADR wasn’t until around 10:00, so I took my time getting ready and let Daniel sleep as long as possible. I spent a little time out on the balcony.
When he got up, we went over to the other room and found that Isaiah was the last person to wake up! He’s usually up pretty early, certainly before the other lazybones members of the family.
Once everyone was ready, we headed for the bus stop. A bus to MK was just leaving, but our luck with buses continued, and another MK bus arrived in 3 minutes. When we got to the MK, I told Isaiah about the Avengers monorail and he was excited to see it waiting. We rushed up the ramp, but we missed it. Isi was pretty excited so I had to explain that when I said the Avengers were on the monorail, I just meant the pictures. He was still kind of excited and wanted to ride in the Hulk car (that boy loves the Hulk).
When we got to the Contemporary, we had to go to the gift shop so my DF could get change. I don’t remember why he needed it now. Anyway, after that quick stop (which wasn’t as quick as it could’ve been because Isaiah also went into the gift shop ), I went and checked us in for our breakfast.
Out of all of us, Daniel was looking forward to this meal most. The breakfast pizza is his favorite thing in the world. Next to actual pizza, that is. Before we were seated, though, we had our photo taken. First just the boys…
And then the whole group.
We got one of the photos included with the Photopass+ and the other we paid for, so all the pictures went on the CD.
We got a nice big table with a view of the MK, so a good spot, even if we were kind of in the back. Breakfast was really great after one minor mishap – Isaiah got a plate with whipped cream and strawberries and promptly dropped it – right down Daniel’s leg. A CM kindly cleaned up the mess – including Daniel. The food was good here – lots of variety and everything was fresh and hot. Daniel was in heaven with his breakfast pizza.
The characters had a lot of fun with us too. Unfortunately, I relied on DSIL for the pictures, and I can’t get them now because of her computer issues. As each character approached, I would try to get the boys to ask them stuff, and I tried to get them to tease Donald, but they wouldn’t go for it. Isaiah said he didn’t want Donald to push him out of the picture! Last year, I sassed Donald and Donald pushed me out of the picture – I’m surprised Isi remembered that!
Of course, when Donald came around, I couldn’t resist teasing him a little (the boys love it so much), so I told Donald to be sure to give my compliments to Mickey on a delicious breakfast. Luckily, I made up for it by saying Donald was number one.
The best interaction came with Goofy! No wonder he’s my favorite! He came up to pose with the boys for a picture. Goofy then pulled DB into the picture, but then regretted it when DB was taller than him. So Goofy stood on a chair!
Sorry for the blurry photo
He had fun teasing Isaiah, too
Another blurry photo – blame DM this time
Our server brought out Anniversary cupcakes
My father was especially happy with these because they weren’t chocolate, and he doesn’t like chocolate. Actually, what he says is he doesn’t prefer chocolate. That means he’ll still eat it if nothing else is available.
There was some napkin waving going on, too.
Notice Daniel is still stuffing his face with breakfast pizza
We’d somehow missed Mickey Mouse and Pluto, so we asked our server to track them down for us. She had us come over to a little spot, and then sent Mickey and then Pluto over to greet us.
We went up to get the monorail to the MK. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the Avengers monorail this time either. We offered Isaiah the chance to stay and wait for the next one, but he decided he wanted to do some rides at the MK instead.
Once we made it into the park, we stopped for some Photopass pictures.
Then, when we got in, the double-decker bus was just sitting there, so we decided to hop aboard. This was the best decision I made all day! I noticed that the driver of the bus was a CM I’d read about on the Disney Parks Blog.
After our ride up Main Street, I climbed down from the upper level and asked the CM if she was the one I’d read about, and she confirmed that she was. I congratulated her and we started to chat. Then she noticed my parents’ buttons and said she was going to create some magic for them!
First, she took my camera and had my parents climb up into the back of the bus.
Then she had the rest of us join them.
And then, she made them kiss! Eww!
We discussed this, and it was the first time my nephews had ever seen my parents kiss. Funny! Anyway, as you can imagine, this was a completely magical moment, and one that we’ll all remember! Thanks, Barbara! We told her we’d try to get back for one of the parades, but when we did, we couldn’t find her. I wanted to see her dance routine!
We were ready for a ride now and it was plenty hot, so the choice was Splash Mountain. The chickens in the group (DM, DF and DSIL) sat it out. The rest of us had a blast!
Daniel hates smiling for the camera, so it was great to get plenty of pictures with that big smile
BTMRR was down at the moment, so we figured we’d save that for later. We couldn’t really do anything else at the time because the boys had appointments at the Pirates League. This was a big hit last year and they were even able to get in without appointments. This year, with the appointments, we waited much longer.
It was at least 15 minutes before they were called. They got their pirate names and then all had to wait at least another 15 minutes before being seated. But then they finally were. Yay! All three boys chose the exact same look they’d gotten last year. I tried to convince them to get other looks, but they were having none of that.
Once they’d joined Jack’s crew (and Isaiah got another weapon – a pirate sword this time), we even had to wait to get into the secret room. In all, it took 90 minutes, which is kind of crazy. Anyway, here are the pictures.
Isaiah was seriously into making scary pirate faces. The other boys were too cool for that. Daniel didn’t even change his expression once.
Then, group shots.
There are a few group pictures, but they mostly look the same. I think the CM on duty made a mistake, but she said with the Photopass+, the photo packages were included.
After that, we just had to ride POTC! Then, BTMRR was still down, so we found some snacks – I remember I got a Mickey pretzel with cheese dipping sauce. Almost as soon as everyone was done, it started to rain! The parade had started up on Main Street, so it must’ve been interesting for the performers.
Anyway, we dashed off to ride the Haunted Mansion, but somehow we lost half of our group. Unfortunately, the split was me, DSIL, Noah and Daniel at the HM and DM, DF, Eddie, and Isaiah unaccounted for. This is a problem because none of them will reliably answer their phones. I tried all three of them (Isaiah probably would’ve answered his phone if he had one ) with the expected results. Nothing. Sigh. It stopped raining after a few minutes, so I told DSIL to stay put and I went to collect the stragglers.
Turns out, Isaiah wanted to stop and watch the parade, and he had a blast calling to the characters and waving at them. I hadn’t scheduled any parades, but I made a mental note to do so next time.
With everyone back together (and reminders for the less cellphone savvy to put their phones on vibrate ), we headed for the HM. The line was short so we went through the graveyard this time. I didn’t take pictures because DSIL did. I learned my lesson, though. Next time, we’ll just have two photos of everything, but if something happens, we’ll still have everything documented.
It was time to hit some rides in Fantasyland. We started with Peter Pan, using the FP line of course. I rode with Noah, and a Photopass CM was waiting at the exit and snapped our photo!
Then we continued through FL, making our way over to the new part. We stopped for a quick detour and had a visit with Pooh and friends. The boys hadn’t seen the interactive queue before.
Next was Dumbo. None of the adults wanted to ride (not even the ones who wouldn’t ride the thrill rides – I think it may have been the heat). Really, only Isaiah wanted to ride. So naturally, being the cool aunt, I volunteered. Then Daniel and Noah decided they wanted to ride as well.
Then we went on the Barnstormer. The boys had fun on that one, but they were really a little disappointed that it was so short. Daniel swore that before the refurb, you got to go around twice. I assured him that was not the case!
It was really hot now and the boys were suffering with the face paint, so I was surprised when they all agreed to ride the stuff in Tomorrowland and then head back to AKL! So we went over to Tomorrowland.
The boys rode Buzz, but I skipped it. I didn’t feel like waiting (not that the line was crazy). I wanted to ride the People Mover instead. Then the boys went on Space Mountain. I forgot to give them the Photopass+, so I didn’t get their ride photo this time.
Everyone was out of gas at this point. It was very hot and humid. Before heading out, though, we stopped for snacks (I got an ice cream cone). We climbed on a crowded bus and were back at AKL before we knew it.
Back at the Lodge, we just hung out for the rest of the night. I wasn’t hungry, but the rest of the family had dinner at the Mara. We’d planned for some pool time, but the boys decided they wanted to keep their makeup on a little longer so they never went in. Daniel and Isaiah washed theirs off before bed but Noah decided he wanted to keep his on for one more day.
Daniel and I headed back to our room and watched a little tv before bed. Ocean’s 11 was on, which I've seen before, but I watched it again. It’s a great movie, but I think I got a little more out of it than Daniel did. I had no trouble staying up until the end, and then it was sweet dreams.
Up Next: Who farted?!?

A great MK day! The boys look very scary as pirates. I can't even imagine how uncomfortable that face paint must have been in the heat. I love that peaceful morning view off your balcony.
What a great day at MK! I laughed at the photo from Splash Mountain because the kid behind your brother is peaking around him to see what's coming up. So funny! Anyways, Isaiah is really rocking that pirate look, but I have to say Daniel's pose is really model material. Maybe Tyra should have a look at it.
Caught up again. You are all having such a great trip! I noticed right away that Noah seemed taller than Aunt Sharon! Even Isaiah is getting bigger - what is with that?!
Great meals, too!
And really?! You're heading back next week? F&WF I presume. Enjoy!
