PTR....Universal Adventures of Dreams and an Expanding world part 2 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

congrats on getting all those flight booked - that is a lot of work and back and forth with all parties involved but always feels good when you can check it off the to do list.
Your new plates and bowls are so cute! I might have to check those out myself! Congrats on getting the flights booked! I find that the most frustrating part of any trip.
I love them and they are getting a lot of use.
I am happy and relieved that part is over now. It was a stress for a bit, but a good feeling after.

Yes...and it's frustrating as the one always seems to not get back right away...but yet she's the one who wants to save the most money.
Looking gooood. Enjoyed the Claire pix at the recital. Looks like a very proud Mother. Congrats on getting the deal on the tickets. Your family issure lucky to have you helping everyone.

I was very proud of Claire. She did such good job. She can be shy on stage and she really did well and put her heart in her moves.
I'm so glad to have the family booked. next big project is online checkin for the cruise. Everyone is pretty clueless on that, so I'll be the lucky one to be helping them on that too.
On Sat. my Mom called and aksed Claire and I to join her for lunch in Toledo. She often runs errands on Sat.s and shops and she doesn't like to eat alone, so she'll often call us to meet her or just pick us up to go with her. (BTW she just called me and we are leaving in an hour to go with her shopping today as well. LOL) I asked Skip if he wanted to see Brave or not, and he didn't, so I said I would most likely take Claire to a matinee movie while we were in town. We met with Mom and had a nice lunch. Mom had bought Claire a new dress....and she was happy about that. And we did some Dsney talk while eating. Claire just LOVES to talk Disney with other people. Soooo....Mom asks me where Claire and I are staying the 1st night we get there. now I told her before, but she has a lot on her mind and forgot. So I blurted out AKL. I looked at Claire and she was staring right at me.....and I realized my mistake. I hadn't told Claire where we were staying. it was going to be a surprise. I quickly said "oh shoot, thats a surprise for Claire." And Claire didn't catch on right away, but you could see her mind working trying to remember what I had said. She said she didn't hear the whole thing, just Animal Kingdom something. Of course the last part of the name isn't going to give her any more info than she already has. : I don't think the name registers for her though. She usually points it out in a book and says I want to stay here. So it will still be somewhat surprising for her. And Monday she asked if I could tell her again because she can't remember what it was...and I said "NO WAY". After lunch we went to the theatre in the mall and saw Brave. Mom decided to join us...but she actually took about a 10 minute nap during it. I was very impressed with the movie. I kind of heard mixed reviews and that many kids wouldn't like it. I think it is one of Disney's better movies. I liked the story, which is very different than your normal Princess storyline. I had tears in my eyes towards the end...and we had a few laughs too. And I really want that wild and crazy red hair...just like hers!

Sounds like a wonderful Saturday with your Mom! on the slip of the tongue with the resort.
It was a nice day. I couldn't believe I let it out. But I think she still isn't sure what I meant...and I sure as heck am not pulling out the books to show her pictures.

I think we are safe. We still have 4 months (well a little less) and she has so much going on, that I'm sure it wil lbe somewhat forgotten by then...if I can keep my big mouth shut.
I was excited to see that my Passport arrived last Sat. I feel like a real traveler now. It only took 22 days to arrive from the day I applied too. I was pretty impressed with that. We can sail with birthcertificates..but it is safer and better to have a passport. I would like to get Claire one...BUT...I need to have Skip come along to apply for her, and he is anti passport for some reason. He thinks there is no need to have one, just a waste of money, and he was mad that I went and got one actually. I swear he thinks our family can doesn't have to follow rules and if something happened while out of the country....we would be the exception and flown right back in. So for now, Claire will be using her BC.
Congrats on getting the passport. I always feel better with it too. I like to get things that are out of my control (like getting a passport) over and done with as soon as I can.
Hopefully Claire won't remember about the AKL and your surprise will be a surpirse again.
You can always get Claire a Passport card, which is perfect to use for cruises. It's much cheaper and just as safe as a regular Passport. That's what DH, DS and I are going to get for our family cruise for next December. Just food for thought
Congrats on the passport! We just felt it safer to have them two, so we all three had them when we cruised. Luke already had his from a mission trip to Haiti, which has now expired. We'll renew his whenever we get around to cruising again.

I feel better now about it too. At least one of us has one.
I hope she forgets...but knowing her, she is still working it out in her head.

Actually the passport card will not benifit us any more than a birth certificate. You can cruise with it, BUT if anything happens to you while out of the country, you cannot fly back in. It's good only for cruising or driving. And of course there is no way to drive back from the Bahamas.
So if we get one, we'll do the the actual book.

I wish the kids ones lasted longer. They are only slightly cheaper and only last half the time. Someone is making moeny off of that one.
On June 16, my Uncle was part of the Toledo area Garden tour. He has really been getting into gardening and he has really worked hard to make his yard look so pretty. All the family had to help out, directing people which way to go and there was a ticket table, etc. (it was a fun day and we went to dinner after as it was also Paige's birthday). Here are a few pictures from the garden.
This is my sister and one of the nieces who will be going on the cruise with us.
