Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I think exploring the resort/swim may be a nice option , because really what kid doesn't want to go swim and since that resort is so big it may give you all a nice idea on where everything is located. When I was just there the front desk told me the closet bus stop to our building ( Oak Manor) was South dept, but since our room was on the backside of that building the East Dept was actually quicker. I didn't find that out till later in the second day.

I have the same problem with timing for our vacations.
My wife refuses to take my daughter out of school, due to minor learning issues.

We will be there in the same time. August 5-20. At AKL.
We are down to 76 days!!!

I've never been, but I wonder if DQ may be too stimulating for Hannah on the first day? I vote for swimming because that's what I would like to do

Don't know if you have a Whole Foods, Earth Fare or Kroger store near you, but I have found a brand of dairy free frozen donuts...they come in many flavors (maple glazed, chocolate, vanilla glazed and cinnamon). It's Kinnikinnick Foods Gluten Free and my sons LOVE them. I keep a stock pile of them and restock every time I head up to Cleveland.

Love your plans so far for the first day - ours are kind of similar because we're not sure how the youngest is going to react to traveling so far.

We did the Y.E.S. program in July so I should be able to answer your question about trying to combine those tickets with the KTTW before you go. Can't wait to see more of your plans!

Thanks for bringing that up....We love going to Dave and Busters at home and she does well...but that it definitely a reason to consider just relaxing!

I live about an hour from the closest Whole Foods and I have never heard of the others you mentioned. Generally, I think DD can live a fulfilling life without donuts...but it will be quite a treat for her!

You will DO the Y.E.S. program in July or you already did? I am very interested in finding out if the tix can be attached to the KTTW card...

You get a super long trip! I would gladly take my kids out of school for a week to go to WDW...but it is a violation of my contract... and I prefer longer vacations anyway...

Babycakes is great. I can't have gluten. I went to Babycakes during the beginning of our trip and bought several things and just kept them at the hotel and ate them throughout the trip. It was great to have a doughnut in the morning or a cupcake at night. I don't really eat the stuff at home so going to Disney I treat myself!

Plans look great the first day, another vote for heading back to the resort for a swim, mauybe enjoy some of the live music in the lounge or let the kids run around a bit at the playground and then early to bed so you can start the next off early and refreshed.

Magic Kingdom

Sunday, August 5 Magic Kingdom

Regardless of crowd calendar advice, our least crowded MK day EVER was a Sunday, where there was also an EMH evening. Rides were walk-throughs for hours in the morning, even though we missed our plan to arrive at rope drop by about 30 minutes. When I was surprised that fairies were a ten minute wait 45 minutes after park open, a CM said Sunday mornings in the summer are “always” like this. I can imagine if people know they can stay until 3am they may choose to sleep in. It was then we decided to visit MK on Sundays, whenever possible. We will see if it was an isolated experience. This year, the Crowd Calendar has MK listed as a 7.8. Not a preferred or park to avoid.

The Crystal Palace
8:30 a.m.
CP was one of our least enjoyable meals of our previous trip. Other than the fact that my kids have no interest in Pooh and Friends, We were hot and tired, the restaurant was so crowded that we kept have to move our chairs around our central aisle table to allow other guests to move around to visit with the characters. We were also not impressed with the food, but that may also have been because we were rushed to finish. With additional lessons learned on the last trip, I know we need to eat at restaurants when they are not as crowded. ASD DD shuts down in crowds and we all pick up on and react to her moods. I also learned that she needs to be sitting against a wall. We need a booth or a table against a wall. I hope that at this time, they can accommodate that request. Is there any way to add a request to an ADR before we arrive at the restaurant? I know they add in special celebrations….

I am willing to give CP another try because of the things above AND that I have always wanted to get an early morning ADR in MK so we could walk on Main Street before the park officially opens. However, we planned this ADR back when we thought we would be driving. I thought this would be the best opportunity to do this when we had our own car and would not be at the mercy of Disney transportation. Now that we are at the mercy of Disney transportation….Is making an 8:30 CP ADR when the park opens at 9 even possible? Do we need to plan to get a cab to make it with time to stroll down MainStreet?

After breakfast at CP, me and the girls will make a beeline to meet Rapunzel. I will need to figure out exactly where that is! (Did I read it will be moving to Adventureland and the new character from Brave will be in Storytime garden? If so…We will also need to figure out how to meet her…)

The Plaza Restaurant
5:00 p.m.
I am still considering cancelling this one and would welcome feedback.
At my ADR day, I was not certain when we would arrive so I made CP and The Plaza ADRs just in case. I liked the Plaza because it is a lower-priced TS restaurant

Now that our arrival day is certain, I am more attached to CP than the plaza. However, I still like the idea of a set dinner ADR. On the other hand…a set dinner ADR limits our flexibility and would prevent us from easily hopping to another park if we chose. Should we keep this? Or cancel?

Great plans for MK. I'd be interested to hear if the "summer Sunday" low crowds continues for you. We've yet to try CP for breakfast, but I've heard it's very good. Hoping some others have advice for you about your transportation to the park, we have an early ADR at CRT (8:05 am) this fall and I'm a little worried about Disney transportation getting us there on time too!

Right now, Rapunzel is meeting guests up towards the front of the park. I think as you enter it is to the left hand side, near the firehouse maybe?

Good luck deciding on the Plaza! We had dinner there in 2010 and were pleasantly surprised.
