Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

[QUOTE=Tabitha34;3907768] If they question me in the right way I have no problem answering their questions. It is when they become accusing that I have a problem with it. I try to do my best to stay calm though.

Thanks!

I know all to well about people questions. My son has a huge birth mark in his hair. His hair is light brown with the huge black hair spot. When he was little I was questioned all the time. "Did he play with shoe polish, or "Did you dye his hair. I almost always answered with & smile & said it was his birth mark. One day I was out with the 3 children 2,6,8. & they were not in the best mood. You know not in public behavor. Well this lady asked the questioned. I'm in a bad mood also, in a stern voice I said in so many words it was none of her business. Wish I had taking a picture of her face. Ricky has Special Needs. One day when he was young, at Special Olympics. A lady approched me & said." Why is he in Special Olympics he doesn't look Retarted. I came back real fast with "Do I look black Irish. Left her speechless. I am Irish, she didn't know that. I wanted to reply "What does Retared look like.
Not just kids are cruel, so are adults.

I think renting a bumpy slide just for Selah for her bday is a perfect idea! I think she would be in her glory with a thrill ride at her disposal to ride as she wishes. Make sure to get video if you do do that!!

Breakfast with Mickey and Minnie! 2/3

I got up this morning at 5 . That was earlier than I want to get up on vacation but we were going to eat at Chef Mickeys so it was ok. We had originally planned this to be our no park day and we were going to Boma for breakfast. We were excited about breakfast at Boma but after the unpleasant experience there on wednesday we were fine with canceling it. Plus we were canceling it for Chef Mickey. With canceling Boma and not doing a TS the day before we were going to have an extra TS to use up. We still didn't have a plan for that but it wasn't going to be used this day. Chef Mickeys was our only TS for this day and the rest of the day was going to be spent in MK. We were all ready for a fun day! After I got out of the shower and dress I woke Asher and Jamie. Wanda was already up. Asher was quickly up and getting ready. He was very excited. We were all dresses and out the door by 6:30. We got to the TTC and were at the monorail ramp by 7 to find out that the monorail was not running. They were having some sort of technical problem. There was another family in line behind us and they were going to Chef Mickey's too. We told the CM there we had a 7:15 ADR at Chef Mickeys and he said not to worry. At about 7:10 they told us they were going to bus us over to the Contemporary. This was not exciting to us since we would have to close up the stroller and then contain Selah on the bus. We headed over to the bus stop and found out we did NOT have to take Selah out of the stroller! Her stroller had the wheelchair sticker on it and she could stay in it on the bus. They would just strap the stroller in no problem. Yay! Now, you remember at the beginning of this week when Wanda took Selah back to the resort and wanted to take the bus? We told her that she would be better off driving so that she wouldn't have to deal with the stroller on the bus because it would be hard for her to fold the stroller and carry it and Selah. Then she got lost going back to the resort. Ummm… Oops. Oh well, we didn't know. Now we do. We were the only ones on the bus along with the other family waiting in line with us. It took a few minutes to get the stroller strapped in and I kind of felt bad because we were all already late. The other family didn't seem to mind though. When we got to the Contemporary the other family got off the bus and turned to us and said, "we will let them know you guys are coming". I thought that was very nice. We were finally off the bus and heading into our yummy breakfast. We had no idea where we were going but soon figured it out. The other family had just got there and were in line giving the CM their name. We were next. We gave them our name and they took us over to get our pictures done and then we were seated. No wait at all!

I was really happy with this picture. We do not often get Selah looking at the camera smiling.

There was a lot of people there for that early in the morning but we still didn't have a wait. We were seated by the kitchen door (I think) which you would think would cause a lot of traffic and could potentially disturb your meal but we didn't hardly notice the CM's going in and out of that door because of everything else going on in the restaurant. Once we were all settled into our seats Jamie went with Asher to get food for Selah and himself while Asher got his food. Wanda was getting her stuff organized for picture taking before going up to the buffet. When she was done she quickly went to the buffet so as not to miss any character fun. Asher and Jamie got back and Asher had bacon, sausage, and a little bit of eggs. The boy loves bacon and sausage. Jamie got a plate full of food for himself (don't remember what all he got, probably a sampling of as much as he could get on his plate, he likes to try everything) and he had fruit, bacon, sausage and eggs for Selah. We never know what she will be willing to eat. I'm sure there was muffins or something too, I just can't remember. I was not very focused on food at this meal because I was thinking about how to do the character interactions. Since Selah has to be strapped into a seat it is kind of time consuming letting her out for each character that comes by. However, I didn't feel like she got the character interaction enough at H & V because she was strapped in. I think she gets more out of it if she is not strapped in. I was happy that we did not have any autographs to get here though. We already had all the autographs for the characters here. That did make things easier. When Jamie got back I saw that Goofy was on his way over so I waited to go to the buffet for myself. Wanda was back quickly and I have no idea what she got other than eggs. She really loved the eggs at WDW. Goofy got to our table and I did not take Selah out of her seat. He came over to her to say hello and she did turn around quickly to say "hello" back. We have learned that Selah likes to touch peoples faces to say "hello". She reached around and touched his face. Then Asher went around to give him a hug. Goofy blew Selah a kiss while posing for pictures and then he was off to the next family.

I saw that I had some time before Donald came to head off to the buffet and get some yummy breakfast so off I went. There was so much food and not enough room either on my plate or in my belly. I had eggs, bacon, hashbrown casserole and I think grits. It was all so good. I will say though that after the two new for us breakfasts on this trip we still love the buffet at Crystal Palace best. I love omelets! This was all very good though. I get back to the table just in time for Donald. I again did not take Selah out of her seat. Donald greeted her first. He walked up behind her and put his hand on her shoulder. She turned around and squealed and then showed him her sticker paper she had been working on. Then Asher got up to get a hug and a picture.

Donald then said bye and moved on to the next happy family. Next up was Mickey and I said, "ok, I'm taking Selah out of her seat for Mickey and Minnie." She was so excited to Mickey again! She hugged him and jumped up and down holding his hands.

Asher was pretty excited too but I know that his excitement has grown into excitement of seeing his sisters interaction with them. Don't get me wrong, he still loves seeing the characters but he is more about it now that he is 9. He is growing up too fast for me. It really hit me on this trip how much his has matured in the past 4 years. I know I'm getting off track here a little, sorry. When Selah started having seizures Asher was just a few weeks shy of turning 4. Most 4 year olds would not understand that this was a life changing moment for our family. They would see it as the doctor will make her better but he knew on a certain level that this was a huge deal. At his 4 year checkup, just a few weeks after Selah's first hospital stay, our pediatrician talked to us about this because it was very obvious that Asher "got it". He understood almost as much as any of us what was going on. As time went on it became more obvious because other kids looked at her as not doing certain things like walking or talking because she was still a "baby". Asher knew that she should have already been doing these thing and would often times try to explain that to other kids. He asked us all the time if Selah would ever walk or talk and once she started walking he would ask if she would ever talk or be able to play with him. These things made him sad. When she had surgery he understood the severity of this. He understood what they were doing and why. He was only 5 then. Now, at 9, he still wishes she could play with him a little better, so to speak, but he is so happy to be able to play with her the way she wants to play. Here in the past couple of weeks I have watched in sit in the floor and play with her for long periods of time doing just little things like stacking 4 or 5 blocks and watching her knock them over. They did this over and over again one day. He was just content to be with her and she loves the attention from him. I think before Selah he would not have sat in floor and did this sort of thing. He had to be the one in charge when playing with other kids. He has really grown into an incredible big brother. Ok, rabbit trail has come to an end, now back to our story. Fun with Mickey was done but Minnie was close behind. I got Selah back out of her seat. She wanted to touch Minnie and say hello. She gave hugs. Asher gave some hugs. Selah walked around in circles instead of standing still for pictures. Asher found this funny. Then it was time to say bye to Minnie.

Last but not least was Pluto. Selah was back in her seat for Pluto but I did turn her around instead of leaving her facing the table. This made sense, too bad I didn't think about it sooner. I guess Jamie didn't think about it either but he was taking pictures and I was taking care of Selah. Pluto comes up and she gives him and big smile and squeal. Then she touched his face, "hello". Rubbed his nose, kind of like she was petting him, I think. Asher got hugs and laughed at his sister. She was being pretty silly. Then when it was time for Pluto to leave she gave him a kiss on the nose.

After Pluto left we all finished eating and we were ready to hit the park. On the way out we decided to stop at the shop right there. We found a pin for Selah. It was a tink birthstone pin. I'll show a picture of it towards the end of the TR. I took pictures of everything we got when we returned home. I didn't think to do it while on our trip. After we were done shopping we went over to check to see if the Monorail was running yet and it was! Yay! We love riding the monorail and something about leaving from the Contemporary was just cool. Before getting in line we stopped for some pressed pennies. Then While in line Wanda commented that she was sure that that floor has not alway been there. She stayed in the Contemporary on her honeymoon for one night the first year it was open and she said she thought for sure you could see all the way to the bottom floor when she stayed there. We told her we were sure that was not the case and that floor had always been there. While we were in line she starts talking to another woman and she makes that comment again. The other woman agreed she didn't think it had always been there either. Jamie and I didn't say anything else about it because we knew she was sure she was right. Jamie got on his phone and pulled up pictures of the Contemporary being built and showed me. Floor had always been there. We told Wanda later. She still thinks we are crazy.

Awesome meal at Chef Mickeys!

I have to say Tabitha, your TR has brought me to tears so many times. You write very well. You make me feel like I know Selah and Asher, and have felt Selah's joy and excitement..along with Asher's disappointment and brotherly love. What a great kid, I know I have said it before...but I can't help myself.

I love the pic at CM as well. I hadn't even seen your comment below it and was thinking the very same thing. Yay! A family pic where Selah has a great big smile and looking at the camera! I am glad you all enjoyed it so much!

Wanda me up!!

Great pics as always! Can't wait to hear about your day, from the teaser it sounds like a good one.

What a great breakfast and character interaction. The group photo is wonderful of everyone and the ones of Selah looking into the characters' faces are beautiful. And the one of her kissing Pluto's nose! I loved your detour into Asher's backstory. He's a fantastic and compassionate boy. VERY smart, too.

What a great breakfast at CMs! Asher and Selah are both beaming in the pictures -you can tell that they both had a great time. Asher sounds like one great kid and I can tell that you are very proud of him. Can't wait to hear about the MK.

Ok I had tears in my eyes. As a parent you always try to insure that your children get along well and love each other. The love I see between your kids is just beautiful! What a tolerant and understanding boy you have and what a spunky and lovely daughter you have. I only hope my 3 "babies" ( 8 yr old son and 5 year old twins...son and daughter) will love each other through thick and thin like your babies. I have really enjoyed reading your TR and hope for more very soon.
