As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great day so far at MK! Cameron looks so cute with his new haircut! Love the pics of him getting it cut! His expressions are great! We were at DHS that day.
Thanks! I'm starting to think our paths might not have crossed at all, but we shall see.

I was surprised by how much of a big boy he looked like after his haircut. Still adorable in my mind, but he's definitely not a baby anymore.

Thanks! I can't believe he left his ears on as long as he did. He won't now, but I think he was so distracted that day and excited by the rides, castle and characters.Did I say characters? Spoiler...

Thanks. The ears were fun. I think all kids look cute in Mickey ears. We had the best time this day. Or maybe it was the next day that was the best. Actually the whole trip had some best moments.

Adorable! Cameron and his ears and haircut, way too cute. I am planing on doing this for sure this fall
Looks like this has been a great day so far!!
However........................why did they not put a cape on him?? All that hair, did it get all over his shirt?? Did it even bother him?
Great Photopass pictures! Cameron's new haircut looks completely adorable -- I'm impressed he didn't cry! Both of my boys screamed bloody murder. Must be something about the magic of Disney, I guess.
All caught up! Congrats on your Disney souvenir!
the pics of Cameron's first haircut!!! Such a cutie!
Thank you! We're excited about our souvenir, but it's hard waiting until October to get it!

The haircut was really fun. You'll love the experience. As far as the cape goes I'm not sure why they didn't use one. I was so caught up in everything that I didn't even notice he didn't have one until halfway through the cut. My guess is that little kids freak out with the cape on. I know it's hard enough to get Cam to keep a bib on I can't imagine he would like a cape on that covered his hands and such. The hair did get on his shirt, but the lady used the blow dryer on low heat when she was done to clean him up. He thought that was hilarious. I didn't really notice any stray hairs for the rest of the day so it must have worked.

Great morning at MK so far!
Thank you! I was surprised by how well the haircut went. I kept telling him he was going to get his haircut and what was going to happen. So maybe that helped. I don't know. He didn't cry at all and barley got fidgety.

Thanks! I think we were kind of mean with the whole Beverly thing, but it was worth it. We just had to be extra nice to them later on.
Day 3 - Part 2 – Characters, Characters, Characters
January 30th, 2012
Since Cameron kept his Mickey ears on we didn’t have any good pictures of his haircut up until now. He took them off at lunch I think and I snapped this in line for the Tiki Room:
Cam enjoyed the Tiki Room. Especially the talking Tiki’s on the wall. He kept saying “Ti-ti” and clapping. Once the show was over we headed to find ourselves some pirates. Before we got in line for the ride we noticed Pirate Goofy was out with very little line. This was Cameron’s first character encounter and I was a little nervous about how it would go. While we were waiting for our turn I gave Cameron his autograph book and pen and said he should give it to Goofy. Well he did:
And then thought he was done and headed for Grandma and Grandpa:
Eventually he returned and Cameron and Goofy exchanged hi-fives:
And then we got our family picture:
Then it was Breanna’s turn:
Pirate Goofy was a little friendly with Bree. She must have gotten like 4 hugs. I think she was a tish creeped out , but it was fun just the same. Once we finished up with Goofy we went on Pirates. Cameron said “Yo-Ho” the entire ride. I think he liked it.
By this time it was time for a snack. And where did we happen to be. Outside the Dole Whip stand. Funny how that works. It has nothing to do with my super duper planning skills. We enjoyed one of those and then tried to get Cameron to take a nap. To which he said “No Way!” Since he did OK with a later nap the day before we decided not to push the whole nap thing and instead headed over to the Jungle Cruise.
Everyone really liked our skipper. Plenty of corny jokes to go around. Cameron enjoyed the animals and the back side of water. Once we returned to land we decided to head over to ride the train. Jean needed to change her shoes so we went back to the lockers so she could do that. We noticed Pluto had just come out so we stopped to see him:
Cameron seemed to be really liking the characters. He always wanted to run right up to them which was challenging for us because we had to wait for our turn, but the kid just loved Goofy and Pluto. And he loved his autograph book. I was so glad he wasn’t melting down with the characters.
We ended up getting on the train and making the whole loop around the Magic Kingdom. The train did stop at Fantasyland for a while. I’m not sure why as you can’t get off there anymore because of the construction. Cameron didn’t like waiting there either. He wanted to go so that stop wasn’t all that enjoyable for us. I had secretly been hoping that Cameron would fall asleep on the train:
He didn’t. Once we got off the train we noticed Mickey and Minnie only had a 5 minute wait so we went to do that. Cameron was so excited to see Mickey that he really did not want to wait his turn! He was squirmy and whiny – it was tough. Finally it was our turn and Cameron handed Mickey his book:
I think Mickey got a hi-five and then we got Minnie to sign his book:
I love how he’s just all smiles looking at Minnie.
We got a family picture taken:
Then Breanna joined the fun:
Then Jean and Jim couldn’t resist having their pictures taken with the main mice:
Mickey and Minnie were very flirtatious with Jean and Jim. It was kind of cute. Breanna needed a high-five:
Then it was time for us to be on our way, but not without a hug for his “Mimmie”:
After Mickey and Minnie we headed over to Cosmic Ray’s for dinner. We all love the toppings bar. Cameron enjoyed the show and danced a little while we all finished eating. After dinner it was time to finally use our Space Mountain FastPasses. We kept talking about making it back to use them, but then something would crop up. I think Breanna thought we would never ride!
Jean decided to sit out the trip on Space Mountain and so I suggested she take Cam on the PeopleMover as he still needed a nap. We all had a blast on Space Mountain. We stopped to look at our ride pictures, but ultimately decided we didn’t want to spend the money on them. The nice cast member saw Jim’s Happy Birthday button and gave him the download card for free:
I love how the other people in Jim’s car are super excited and he looks a little bored.
After our thrill on Space Mountain Breanna and I went up to the PeopleMover and asked if we could just wait there and help Jean get Cameron off the ride. Well we had just missed them going around a second time, but they told us what they could do is let us ride around with them and then we could help them get off. So we waited to do that. Well there was some kind of issue with the ride and when Jean made it back around they wouldn’t let us on the ride. So we asked if we could just wait at the exit for them when they came around again. I don’t think they really wanted us to, but Jean had a little trouble with the moving walkways and I really wanted to make sure Cameron stayed sleeping. When I explained my situation they said they would allow us to get onto the exit and help them out.
I think Jean was a little sick of the PeopleMover, but Cameron was definitely asleep. Jean said he was out almost immediately. They rode it 4 times so I guess I get why Jean was sick of it.
Since Cameron didn’t like the fireworks at Epcot we weren’t sure if we were going to stay for Wishes or not. But since he was asleep we thought we’d just give it a try. We took the bridge from Tomorrowland to the hub and noticed everywhere was already crazy crowded. I sent Nate on ahead to see if there was a good spot. The best he found was on the bridge itself so we stopped to wait for the show to start. Everyone really liked the Magic, Memories and You show. Well except for Cameron. He slept through it. Once Wishes started Cameron woke back up and didn’t really care for the fireworks, but I snuggled with him and he wasn’t too upset. This was not my favorite place to watch the fireworks as the fireworks are off to the side of the castle:
I like seeing them when they look like they’re directly behind the castle. Notes for next time.
I just love how Main Street looks all lit up at night:
We left the park with everyone else. We ended up waiting for the bus for about 20-30 minutes. That wasn’t all that fun. We managed to get back to the resort by about 10 PM and lights out by 10:30 PM.
Favorites
Cameron – Dole Whip float. He takes after his mama! He also seemed to really like Pirates. “Yo-Ho”. Although you ask him about his favorite part of the trip and he always says “Choo-choo”. He didn’t seem that excited about the train when we rode it, but that’s what he says every single time we ask.
Nate – Meeting Mickey and how excited Cameron was about his autograph book.
Missy – Cameron’s first haircut and just having my little boy with me in one of my favorite places on earth.
Worst part about today – Cameron had a few little meltdowns. Especially when we had to wait to see the characters or when we had to get off a ride he enjoyed. Also, he hit Breanna in the face and I scolded him. He got the saddest look on his face. It was the best pouty lip I’ve ever seen. I tried to take a picture, but couldn’t get a good one. But I’m sure Cameron would consider it a worst part.
Most interesting thing about today: Learning the value of the PeopleMover for naps. I didn’t really think it would work even though everyone swears by it. It was magical for getting Cameron to sleep.
Weather in Orlando: 73 and sunny. It did get a little chilly in the evening, but it wasn’t as bad as the night before.
