A Coast to Coast Christmas - Phase One WDW - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Dirty girl... waited until the lights went out and... GOOSED ME! And, literally, the lights had JUST gone out and literally Sharon stayed away just through the "Hey." Girl was asleep before I could explain. As I said that night, that must be how you sleep when you have a completely guilt free conscience or, as Eileen said, when you have a little too much faith that your friends won't draw makeup mustaches on you as you sleep. Man, this brings back so many great memories!
ZOMG - I totally DID goose you! I forgot about that!!!
:roflmao2:
The problem is, when you share a room with Jill and Sharon, they don't even notice when you do hilarious things at bedtime. They're out cold too quickly!!
And... my oh my, Karen. You certainly got a big upgrade to your photo equipment.

It sounds like you're having a great trip so far! I would love to meet you and the group someday - you all sound like so much fun!
We do have a lot of fun together! Unfortunately, we don't know when we'll ALL be at WDW again. Great! Now I'm depressed. Thanks a lot! Just kidding!

If you ever decide to move into the TOT, can I have the Canadian Cottage?
looking forward to more.
I'll never give up the cottage! The beauty of it is that the TOT is only a boat ride away.

I'm not putting myself in the same league as Cheryl! There's no way I could manage to post daily updates! But I do have a self-imposed rule that I must finish one TR before going on my next trip, and having frequent trips, that means frequent updates. So if you want to post updates in a timely manner, plan more trips! Simple!

Great day so far! Looking forward to hearing about dinner. Oh, and I crave a No Way Jose, now!
ST never made me feel queasy. Body Wars, on the other hand, used to make me feel sick. I don't miss that ride at all!

Yay!

Your mistake was pointing it out! Everyone was looking at the CM in the photo! And like I said, you can have my share of chestnuts.

I love it! And you have that special mode in your camera that automatically inserts the garlands and everything! Awesome!

Oh yeah, that boy was bustin' a move! I tried getting a photo of him, but couldn't. He was too, too cute!

And for all of you saying, "Seriously, those look just like my Photopass shots." No. They don't.
I, on the other hand, have three pictures that I love.
A few of you might now be saying, "Come on now. I KNOW those are from the Photopass CD." In the immortal words of my dear friend Maddie, "Zip it!"
I'm You'll have to give me some pointers for next time.

Sure, you forgot! Now you shouldn't ever talk about me making stuff up in the TR. You forget stuff to make yourself look innocent.
Now that the Photopass CD has arrived, the updates should be more frequent. In fact, the next one should be later today! I'll let Jill post the rest of the Photopass pics to this point, but I want to share this one because you can see our tree hats so well. Karen for making them!
That was the night we got separated from the rest of the group when they detoured into Mouse Gear to find Amy.

I was actually asleep when you guys came back and I just let myself stay in that half-awake/half-asleep state until Karen got into bed and turned off the light. Then I stealthily skootched my hand over and attacked!!
But I FORGOT about it until now because I was mostly ASLEEP when I did it.
Oh... and I think I made some snarky comment about making sure Karen saw some action in our "bed made for three."
Karen.. you out did yourself with these photos.
It clearly takes you piping in to bring out the real stories What a great night at MVMCP. thaanks for sharing those pics

Day Three, Part Two How to dine at Citricos while wearing a tree on your head
We got all gussied up for our meal in the Chef’s Domain at Citricos. I was looking forward to this meal not just because it would be a fantastic meal with great friends, but also because this would be my first time dining at Citricos. Citricos had been at the top of my “must try” list for a while!
We put on our cones and headed to the bus stop where we met up with Bob and Larry. We caught a bus to AK (I’m pretty sure), which makes a stop at the GF to pick up more guests, so it was an easy trip over to the GF!
Joan met us and we checked in for our meal. We made quite a splash with all of us wearing our cones! We were led to the little room where a table was set up for us, and the chef came out and talked to us for a bit. I’ll have to let Larry step in and talk about the wines we had, because I didn’t make any notes about them.
Our server was wonderful and did her job perfectly. I was a little disappointed that the chef didn’t spend more time explaining to us about what we were eating, but I guess because we’re ordering off the regular dinner menu, they figure you can read it yourself. He did send out an amuse bouche for us.
It was quite similar to the Blue Crab Pave I wanted to order, so I was glad to be able to sample that and the other item I’d had my eye on. We got a bunch of different items for the table and shared them. For the salad course, I went with the heirloom tomatoes.
For the main course, I went with the short rib. It was delicious! However, I could only manage to stuff down half of it – I needed to save room for dessert.
I was pretty full, so I chose a light dessert – the green apple sorbet. It was quite tasty, but I only managed to eat a little of it.
We had our server take a group shot (well, several shots with various cameras).
We settled the check (there is a $650 minimum for the Chef’s Domain, and we just made it – our total came to $655 before the TIW discount). We hung out a little longer, just chatting and enjoying each other’s company. I probably should mention that conversation topics included Karen’s judging-as-she-falls-asleep sound and Joan’s DH Pat’s reaction to certain medications (he gets what Eileen dubbed crazy legs and crazy arms).
We were given souvenir menus, which is a nice souvenir. We said goodnight to Joan and the rest of us caught the monorail over to the MK. There were a lot of people waiting for the WL boat, and one pulled out shortly after we’d joined the queue, but it wasn’t close to being full. We had to wait for another one, but we had the EWP to watch while we waited.
The second boat came in and filled up, but we just missed being able to get on. We were close enough to the front of the line now that we knew we’d make the next one whether they filled it up fully or not.
We said goodnight to the guys and headed up to our room. As I fell asleep, I must have been channeling Karen, because I woke myself up making Karen’s judging noise! And I woke myself up again in the middle of the night channeling Pat, because my arm was flinging itself around wildly. Must’ve been too much wine!
Up Next: An impromptu PassPorter meet

Fabulous!!!! Now that is my kind of meal. That salad looked so yummy. Everything did. You all looked so fancy too. I'm glad it was a perfect night for you all!
What an awesome meal - that worked out so well, coming in just over the total needed for the Chef's Table. That's what I call good planning! I love the shot of all of you together.
