A Coast to Coast Christmas - Phase One WDW - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thats true Sharon... you always come back! I enjoy your trip reports and the banter that you all share back and forth. Sorry Eileen that you were not feeling up to par for the trip. I hope it did not impact too much for you... you missed out on the NoWayjose? 4 drops on the TOT , still impressive. you own that ride.
If you ever decide to move into the TOT, can I have the Canadian Cottage?
looking forward to more.

I felt a little queasy after ST. Although it was less bumpy than it used to be.
My 15 DS loves Beverly. I tell him he's a complete weirdo.
Great day so far! Looking forward to hearing about dinner. Oh, and I crave a No Way Jose, now!
Because Jilly is going a little bit more my speed (honestly, no one goes my speed when it comes to TR updates (I'm in a class all my own, y'all!)), I'll probably attach a few more pictures and words to her TR. But did want to pop in here and add a few Photopass and Kdubs pics for our time at MVMCP.
But first...

Karen even had time to stop for some roasted chestnuts.
Ummm, yeah. Thanks for editing out all of the bad photos of me, Shashi. I think you managed to capture all four of my chins in this one. And, don't believe the negative Nellies! Those of us who enjoy roasted chestnuts CLEARLY have a more refined palate.
On to the party!
Quote:
We noticed there was a 10-minute wait to meet Mickey and Minnie. There appeared to be no line to meet the princesses and their princes, but the wait time was posted at 60 minutes. We had practically no wait to see Minnie and Mickey in their oh-so-cute holiday attire. We got lots of kisses from them, too.
The mice love them some Shashi!
The four of us do look pretty darn adorbs too, don't we?
Quote:
So no princesses and princes for us. We consoled ourselves with some photos of a decked-out Main Street U.S.A.
We got a Photopass photographer to take a picture of us and they must have told us to back up for about five minutes. I kept wanting to get all up in the photographer's grill, and then I was totally convinced that they were going to tell us to keep walking until we finally gave up and walked away. But, they must have known what they were doing.
I had a chance to take a picture of Main Street myself. (And for all of you who think this looks suspiciously like the photo you got on your Photopass CD; no it doesn't.)
Quote:
We had some time before the Magic, Memories & You show was due to start, so we went to Cosmic Ray’s to boogie with Goofy. First order of business was to procure some cookies and cocoa. Both were tastier than they’ve been in the past. Goofy wasn’t there, but Dale and Pluto were. And the DJ kept saying that Goofy would be there in a few minutes. He and I have a very different idea of “a few.” We had fun dancing with Dale, though (and more bad photos that I’m not posting. You’re welcome, Karen ).
But, check out these photos of you! You are so freakin' cute!
Quote:
After doing the Cupid Shuffle, we cried uncle and had to leave to catch the MM&Y. Goofy still was due in “a few” minutes.
You forgot to mention that ADORABLE little boy who was "break dancing" and getting down in the cutest way. He seriously was worth the price of admission for me.
More in a minute...

We moved a bit closer to the castle so we could see the castle show.
It was a good enough spot for me to get a couple of great shots...
And for all of you saying, "Seriously, those look just like my Photopass shots." No. They don't.
Quote:
After the show, we went to find spots for the parade in Frontierland. We scored a spot right in front of the ropes and had a seat. I took a gazillion photos (and am not really thrilled with any of them).
I, on the other hand, have three pictures that I love.
A few of you might now be saying, "Come on now. I KNOW those are from the Photopass CD." In the immortal words of my dear friend Maddie, "Zip it!"
Quote:
I was pretty tired and convinced I should call it a night, but when we got up and walked for a bit, I got a second wind. We walked through Fantasyland and got a photo with Donald.
Hugs and photos!
Not sure what's going on here, but I think my little hand flip looks so sassy!
Quote:
Then we popped into the dance party in Cosmic Ray’s and Goofy was there, in his Santa outfit. Karen got a cute photo of us, which she’ll hopefully post soon.
Well, not exactly soon, but maybe soon-ish?
Quote:
Then we noticed that Phineas and Ferb had a manageable line, so we joined it. There were a lot more adults in the line than there were kids. And half of the kids in line were asleep! The guys went in for a break with one group in front of us but came back quickly.
Check you out. Trying to just shake Ferb's hand. He was having NONE of it!
Lovin' me some Phineas...
Altogether now!

We were happy with all we’d accomplished in just over 3 hours. We even got some Ghirardelli peppermint chocolates on the way out! It was about 11:35 when we left the party. We caught the bus back to the WL. Eileen was asleep, but Jill was still awake.
Karen and I got ready for bed and we all turned in. Eileen woke up just enough to perform a little shenanigans and that sounds really dirty! No wonder we have a reputation. I don’t know what was going on, because I fell asleep shortly after Karen said “Hey!”
Dirty girl... waited until the lights went out and... GOOSED ME! And, literally, the lights had JUST gone out and literally Sharon stayed away just through the "Hey." Girl was asleep before I could explain. As I said that night, that must be how you sleep when you have a completely guilt free conscience or, as Eileen said, when you have a little too much faith that your friends won't draw makeup mustaches on you as you sleep. Man, this brings back so many great memories!

We checked in for lunch at Beaches and Cream and then found a table to wait. I noticed my fellow CLQ’ers at the podium talking to someone and then I recognized her. It was Brandy (brandy_mel)! They were planning to eat at B&C as well. We had fun chatting with them and met Brandy’s DH, Shane. What nice people! But that’s not unusual with PassPorters! We got a photo together, and I thought I'd asked someone to use my camera to take one, but alas, I don't have one. We'll have to wait for someone else to post it.
I think Jill's got this one too, but I'm on such a roll tonight!
I totally loved the portable backlighting equipment I brought that made me look like I had a halo the whole trip!
