Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I do feel bad about the tickle fest sometimes, I despise being tickled and I wonder if they do too. But I can't help it, those laughs are priceless
I feel the same way, but Dylan says "Again" if you take a break. So I assume he likes it - he might be the only person that does though.
Today sounded much better. But sorry you had to leave the kiddos behind. I think that would be rough too - that's why Mike does the dropping off at daycare and I pick them up.

Today sounded like a GREAT day! You do wonder when the kids so willingly leave your side, don't you?! But they know mom will always be there - the kids' clubs, not so much, so need to enjoy them while they can!
I do hate the hard sell after a spa service, and agree with others - say so before it gets started! Don't want to ruin that relaxation you've achieved.
Villians is my least favorite show, definitely. Didn't think it was so hot on the Magic in the Baltic; tried it again on the Dream in August, and still just think it's so-so. Not even in the same category as Believe!
At all the Disney spas I've been to (DCL included) when I fill out the profile form - I write - "no products" on the form - and have never ever had a problem. Just a thought for next time.
All up to date great update so good to know the childcare is so good on the ships!! Sad to say goodbye im sure but at least they were both taken care of so well!
Ok..I have been looking for your trip report everywhere only to discover that I have been looking in the wrong place. It is in the Disney Cruise Reports...duh! Enjoying your TR and pics of your beautiful family
I am FINALLY all caught up! I have to say you are offering some great tips in your PTR and TR! Thank you so much! We will be traveling on the Dream for the first time next Sept with a 4 1/2 yr old and almost 3 month old and I already had the trip booked before we knew baby was arriving so am I crazy? My husband says we are but you described the nursery so well and it makes me feel 10 times more comfortable than I did before. I feel like since the baby will just be on milk and they sleep so much at that age that it won't be that bad but I'm really looking forward to it and I'm glad that you're sharing your experience! And I have to say those people were so rude! I really don't stare family's down because I have a child of my own and I know kids can have off days/nights but seriously! That had to have been stressful!! Other than that I can't wait to read the rest of you TR! Beautiful family!
Hey gang!! Since alot of you mentioned about the spa treatments and the product selling, I thought I would address all of you. I joke, joke alot, and nothing was really $957. I promise you, I said that because I don't know how much her super, snazzy, amazing, make you 10 yrs younger lotion was.........but I know it was $$$. If you read back in any of my TR's you'll notice I tend to use the #57 when I talk alot. Have no idea why, but I do. As for not telling any tech upfront about not planning on buying any product afterwards. I don't mention that to them before hand, maybe I should, but I want the same service given to me as to someone who would be interested in buying some super, snazzy, amazing, make you 10yrs younger lotion would be getting. I feel that sometimes a tech wouldn't take that extra step if they knew you weren't going to be adding to their retail sale commission......sad, I know.
Sooooooooooo, in my hurry to get that last update in, I failed to mention the biggest party foul of our trip.
While Josie was in the kid's club and we were wondering around with sleeping baby, I told Arnaud to go ride the Aquaduck since the wait was pretty short. He said, no you go, I say no you, this goes on for awhile and finally he says he's not giving up, for me to go and he'll ride it later tonight and then on the last day we'll drop both kids off in the afternoon at the kid's club and we can ride together. OK, so off I go. The line wasn't too bad but as I was etting closer to the actual top, I was getting a bit nervous. I just get claustrophobic..........but on I go. The first 2 min of the ride is the very best and then after that it's cool to just look around at everyone below you. I loved it very much and now was looking forward to going again with Arnaud on our last day..............but that will have to wait.
Writing my CC update tonight to post this week........missing that warm sunshine right about now

I do have pics of them.........but I would never post them. However, I'll show you one day if you'd like. You can just see how "happy" they are

Thanks and glad to have you along. I only have 2 days of this TR left to write, so I'll hurry it up.

NO, your not crazy!!! Life goes on with kids and if traveling is what you like, then the kiddies come to and you just have to adjust!!! The cruise was nice because I was never more than 5 min from our room, like in the parks you could be alot further. We never got off the ship except for CC. I mean, everything we needed was right there. I would go again with the babies for sure, if you have any questions, just ask. I'll have alot of things I learned in the end of this TR. Hopefully they might be of some use for you.

Yes I think you're right in that the room will be so close to us no matter where we are at on the boat. I'm so excited and yes I will have questions for you if you don't mind! We're also not planning on getting off the boat except for at CC.
Okay...I'm finally caught up! And at least I've talked to you and seen you since so it's not as bad that I haven't been following along...right...right??
Anyway...Glad you liked the BC (at least during the day ). I've never really been over to the BW except once to have dinner at FFC. I guess we'll have to walk over there with the boys next year. I do LOVE me some Poly, and one of these days I'm going to stay at the GF. Finally made it over to see it this last trip. (which maybe you'd know about if I'd actually start writing my TR )Maybe a split stay next year half Poly, half BC.
I LOVE that Josie kept asking about the boat and when you'd be on it, certainly seems she was excited about it!
And Jason and I watched and waved as you sailed away. Every little girl in pink he saw he said "I think that's Josie...I think that's Josie!!"
My biggest pet peeve is rude people. It isn't like you were ignoring Andre and letting him run hog wild, which face it we've all seen others do. You can only do your best and HELLO...it is a Disney cruise. Duh!
Love the Nemo splash area...how adorable!! And you did right dropping them both off. They had a great time (even if Andre doesn't actually know it ) and their own little vacation adventure.
Carrots in ketchup!!?? Yup...Josie and Jason are a match made in heaven. My boy has tried just about anything in ketchup
I am new to all of these boards so I'm not sure I'm even doing this correctly... But I just had to post because I have sooo enjoyed reading your trip report . We are going on the Fantasy in April, so all the info on the Dream is great! Your pictures are wonderful, and I love your sense of humor! I was having flashbacks of our last Disney cruise (6 years ago!!) with my then 1 and 2 year old daughters and 12 year old step-son.... I think my husband has completely blocked that entire trip out . I can't wait to hear the rest!
Tuesday Oct 18th,
Today was the day that I think most Disney cruisers look forward to the most CASTAWAY CAY!! We were all pretty excited and enjoyed the view from our verandah while having room service and getting ourselves together. Josie was quite a pill this morning too. I’m not sure what it was the started the whole fit, but she was a mess and had to be “talked” too quite a few times before we even left the room. I was trying to get us out of the room early because I knew a certain little fairy was out for pics. So soon we were on our way to the atrium to meet…..TINK!!
The line was getting quite large by the time we got down there, but soon enough we were with her and boy was she great! Josie and her had quite the love fest going on and they talked forever!!
We then went to head off the boat and I’m not sure how we missed this but I am so glad that after we got off Arnaud turned to look behind him for whatever reason and there was Mickey and Pluto!!! Just getting ready to head to their spot on the beach for pics. Well of course we run back and the CM was telling us to snap away and be quick because they had to leave. That alone was priceless.
We took the path instead of waiting for the tram, which was actually a nice little walk and we stopped at all the photo ops along the way too.
Andre had yet again fallen asleep in the stroller, which was all fine. As we were waiting in line for some pics, you will never guess who was right behind us the WHOLE way???? Mean unhappy couple!! I tell you, we saw them everywhere.
We went to the first family beach and set up camp for the day. We got settled in and then just went about exploring the beach and water.
We decide to go check out the splash area and also check out a bar maybe to grab a Dirty Banana!! We had lunch at Cookie’s and then went back to our spot again for a little more swimming. This beach day was really great weather. It was hot, but not scorching and it was a bit cloudy too. Almost getting too cloudy by one point and Arnaud thought maybe we should start to head back to the boat soon in case some rain would be coming because that did seem like it would happen anyway. So we gathered our things, tossed our towels back into the bin. Later I would find out I also tossed a Dr. Brown’s bottle in there too……….whoops. Then took the nice path walking back to the boat.
We got onto the beach by like 9:30am and were back on the boat by like 2ish. I know we could have stayed longer, but I know not to push my kids too much and we did have a BIG night ahead!!!! Pirate Night!!
