Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Wow, your DH is really talented - that's one of the best sketches I've seen from one of those classes!

Great finish to your day at DHS. Glad you enjoyed the AI experience. And DH's drawing was really good. He has a lot of talent!

You should definitely try TSMM next time around - it's fun!

Day 3, Part 4

Once we got back to the room we relaxed for a little bit before starting to get ready for dinner. While we were getting ready the skies opened up and it was raining pretty hard by the time we headed down to Flying Fish. Luckily if you go out one of the side exits of BWI you can practically get all the way to Flying Fish without having to leave cover. Of course everyone else had the same idea to seek shelter in the breezeways so we had to maneuver our way through the crowd but we made it!

The waiting area of FF was pretty crowded and it seemed like many people were late due to the weather. The group in front of us checking in had missed their ADR time and the hostess was trying to fit them in. Once we checked in and got our pager we didn’t have to wait too long at all to be seated.

I was excited to finally be at FF! My parents have been telling us for years that we need to try it (it’s their favorite Disney restaurant) but it’s never seemed to work out for us to get here.

Tonight was our 11th wedding anniversary and I don’t remember noting it on the ADR but I must’ve because we got anniversary menus.

We started off with a bottle of Georges Duboeuf Pouilly Fuisse, which is the same wine we had enjoyed at Bistro de Paris last year. I opted to skip an appetizer and DH ordered the sustainable shellfish appetizer, which was a wild gulf shrimp cocktail.

He shared one of the shrimp with me and it was very good!

For entrees, DH got the cod special (he was torn between that and the potato wrapped snapper but decided on the cod because the waitress said it was only on the menu for two days but the snapper will always be there).

I chose the oak grilled diver scallops on risotto with Serano ham cracklins.

Oh my! This dish was heavenly! The cracklins were amazing and the scallops and risotto were perfectly prepared.

During the meal the manager came over to wish us a happy anniversary and to apologize if we had to wait due to the rain (we hadn’t).

I had definitely saved room for dessert this time because I had my eye on a dessert that I’d read about before we left: the trio of concession sweets. Here’s the menu description:

What a cute presentation!

I really loved the whoopie pie and DH was a big fan of the popcorn mousse. The popsicle had a tart bite to it but it acted as a bit of a palette cleanser between the other flavors. They added a happy anniversary chocolate banner as well.

DH is a big Port fan so I practically insisted that he order a flight, which he did.

We leisurely finished our meal and once we headed outside we found that the rain had stopped and it was just really muggy out. I suggested we take a stroll over to the Beach and Yacht Club so that’s what we did. We checked out the lobbies and gift shops and headed on toward the Swan/Dolphin. When we passed Atlantic Dance Hall we must’ve been in a festive mood (and lured in by the word “free”) so we popped in for a bit.

The dance floor was pretty empty and seeing as we’re “shy” dancers, we figured it was not our time to get out there! The bar on the other hand was quite hopping. We went up to try to get a drink but we couldn’t even get the bartender’s attention. After a few songs we decided to move on and head back to the hotel.

I had watched the Weather Channel for a bit earlier and Saturday’s forecast was getting progressively worse so we decided to not even set the alarm and just see where the day would take us.

Up next: Bust out the ponchos!

OMG! Your dinner looked absolutely fabulous and that Scallop dish I want right now! LOL Glad it wasn't raining after dinner and you were able to walk around a bit. Looks like a great end to the day, we are wanting to try Flyin' Fish but are not sure how kid friendly it is and how to work it in to our trip. I would say good weather pixies but I remember the text you sent me about it raining buckets on Saturday. Looking forward to reading how you made the best of a soggy day.

I think FF would be pretty kid friendly. It's pretty lively in there. We passed by the windows on another night and there were kids in there at close to 10 p.m. (like kids younger than DD - I don't know how they do it she'd be a wreck in a restaurant at that hour, lol). Oh yes, get your umbrella out for the next installment, lol.

Glad Luke's tip for TSMM is still working for you all! on the double fingered nose-picker. I would have had to move, too, but I'm sure Stefanie would have loudly scolded him before that happens. Dinner at Flying Fish looks so wonderful! We've not tried this restaurant yet, but hope to some day.

Ok I'm only halfway through this (just started reading) but before I forget, I have to comment... OH MY GOSH... THAT CINNAMON ROLL! I'm drooling all over my keyboard! I just got home from WDW about three hours ago, and I'm ready to turn around and go get a roll! I don't even know what to say - it just looks so good! I might have to go to Dunkin Donuts to get one (not even close to the same, but it might at least kill the craving).

Ok, back to reading! I'm loving the heck out of this TR!
